I just got a new job and the medical insurance options they offered me for my family cost between $650-900 per month, in addition to co-pays and deductibles! Thank goodness I have other insurance.

Avatar f tn Apparently none of what we are reading is of any consequence to the conclusions of the safety of dental implants for the American Dental Association. Alot of the research reveals what can support the multi-million/billion?? dollar medical and pharmaceutical industry, I think. I was able to get the materials specification from the manufacturer of my dental implant in order to be tested for a reaction to these materials via the Melisa test.
Avatar m tn ACA mandates coming in 2014 include the mandate for individuals to purchase insurance; minimal coverage requirements for insurers; coverage of pre-existing conditions for adults; limits on premium variation based on age, gender, health status, or group size; new fees and taxes; and other new rules. The AAF sought to understand how these changes would play out in different markets.

Avatar m tn Employers typically pay 82 percent of the premium for a worker, and 72 percent for a family plan. Most workers and their families are covered by job-based health insurance, and the new law does not stop employers from changing their plans from year to year, as they do now. --- SEBELIUS: "So instead of the Medicare guarantee, Republicans would give seniors a voucher that limits what's covered." THE FACTS: She left out crucial details in describing the Romney-Ryan Medicare plan.
535822 tn?1443980380 In 2013, the employee portion of the Medicare payroll tax will increase from 1.45 percent to 2.35 percent for families earning $250,000 or more and individuals earning $200,000 or more. The income threshold is not indexed for inflation, so more and more middle-income families will be hit by the tax hike as time goes on. 2. It adds a new tax to investment income. The increased payroll tax rate is also applied to high-earners’ investment income for the first time beginning in 2013.
1035252 tn?1427231433 )) but on the other hand I think my husband would do well and the discipline would be good for his life. But I'm so's such a big shake-up for us. He plans to go into the spring boot camp and then he'll have a 2 week leave (sometime in March) and then he'll go onto a ship for 2 months to start on-the-job training as a Quartermaster....and then I think he gets another brief leave (right about baby's due date) before being deployed for 6 months. What do I do?!

377493 tn?1356505749 Ok, so I think I have figured out why I get so upset about the lies being told about Socialized Medicine here in Canada. Some of you know I had a baby 18 days ago. The day he was born, my OB ordered a routine ultrasound. There was no medical reason for it really, mostly because I was feeling anxious and wanted to know all is well. As a result of that u/s we found out my son was in trouble. He was delivered by emergency c-section just a few hours later and thank God all is well.
Avatar f tn As someone with a pre existing condition who lost employer based insurance at the onset of the recession and have not been considered elligable for coverage since that time, I am happy about this ruling. This includes my husband as well. Instead of some having coverage and paying excessive premiums because of carrying those without insurance, all will have personal responsibility. I dont see that as a bad thing at all.
Avatar m tn Can you explain how Medicare Supplemental insurance plans work? Who is eligible for this and what does it cover? Now asking for my benefit as the ongoing debate here in Canada is whether to allow private healthcare and in what form. Your reference to it has piqued my interest.
1530342 tn?1405020090 (well, I guess don't forget the goodwill missions around the world------------ but add docs to do the same thing in our own country). Same for dental care. Same for mental health care, etc. Docs usually have one day off during the week------------- spend half of it with indigent patients??? What about that idea???
1684282 tn?1505701570 Some are well trained and well ran clinics quietly helping patients start new lives, however a few were trying to make a fast buck and ran into trouble and unfortunately those are the ones that get into news and leave a bad taste in the mouths of all. Internists not doing proper medical screening, not making sure the patients are well enough for the procedure; Anesthesiologists who are not ABA certified, facilities that are ill equipped to deal with emergency situations, etc.
Avatar f tn I would also like to point out that it is that time of the year for renewals on insurance plans. Insurance companies are raising the rates again and making huge profits while giving less and less care. They raise their rates for less on the dollar. So to me, making them spend 85 percent of the dollar on health care is also a good thing. The reform is not perfect by any means, but unless you are in a situation like me, and many more like me, your just not going to understand.
657315 tn?1319494987 Those that cannot afford to pay for it now, will be fined, do they still get care? How are they going to pay for meds, etc. if they can't pay for the insurance? If they pay more taxes on everything, they can't pay for the meds, etc, as well as the insurance, though they will pay a hefty fine. They will have a budget for care for a certain duration, if they run out, what happens to the care. It is the meat of the Reform, that concerns me.
Avatar f tn If you make more than that, I can see where you would want McCain's plan. Here...check out this page for a table comparing the two plans (the analysis is by a non-partisan organization called the Tax Policy Center): ( McCain's ad talking about how your taxes will go up, he doesn't specify that the ad is only directed at the top 1% income bracket in this country.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me what kind of meds works best for the pain in the head. I tried Vicodin but got tired of being nausea, Then I was on Butalbital and that was worse-didnt help the pain. Now I have pain on the right side (tumor was left frontal). I had to start the Vicodin again to ease the pain but have to tolerate the nausea. How do you know if your brain is swelling? So many questions and no answers....
Avatar f tn Grammy, I remember you saying your doc was prescribing off label for all his patients. Do you have any idea what reasons he is giving to in key words or arguments he has to support the off label. Hope that makes sense. So tired and it's been a frustrating day. Again, so very happy for your success! Can you spell CURED?
475555 tn?1469307939 One can get a dispensation for chronic diseases, though. I have a private supplementary insurance, which pays for the difference between state and own payment. So I get everything reimbursed. Guess years of paying them will finally pay off. :-) I'm actually not Danish, but have been living here for the past 10 years. I'm Swedish (mom) - Amercian (Dad) , grew up in France, Germany and Indonesia. Never lived in Sweden and unfortunately only been to US once.
Avatar f tn and whether people believe it or not, there are doctors out there who have thier own agendas and they will dismiss your life for their own dinner plans one evening faster than you can imagine. We have become FAR to trusting of this profession and this will become more apparent... it should be already ...but most of us choose to ignore it.

Avatar n tn com/melisa-test-for-hypersensitivity-to-metals/ for a discussion among the dental community on the MELISA test for titanium sensitivity and when it should be indicated. I’ll repost once she runs this by her allergist with his reaction and what kind of costs are associated.
Avatar f tn Like Angiesmom, I have watched the debates, I have looked at the topic and did comparison on my own. I have watched Hannity; Limbaugh, Rhodes, CNN-Cooper, etc. Watched both Foxnews (which is typically liberal); CNN; MSNBC; etc. My opinions have been formed by listening; reading; researching. The one thing that I have asked continually during this campaign is: a REASON why Obama is dangerous, etc. Over and over, I have received no answer.
