Avatar f tn Hey Sarah I too am a college student looking for health insurance, I was curios to know what you chose and what worked for you. Also did you add dental to your health insurance, I cant find many quotes with both to know how much together they would cost.
Avatar n tn 1. be careful with "getting your own" dental insurance. Plans not offerred through employment are usually very poor, and are usually not really "insurance" at all. (Is it Ameriplan?) They are usually "savings" plans where if you go to a paricipating practice, your fees are drastically reduced. Keep in mind the dentist does not get reimbursed by your "insurance plan" at all. It is not my place to say much more, other than to be really careful.
Avatar n tn Prices range from around $340(for hospital only plan)-$1995(for a more comprehensive HMO) per month for a couple. Couple of ways you can get better rates; 1) If one of you is Sole Proprietor business owner, 2) If you apply & enroll separately. I recommend you to consult a licensed agent that represents companies like GHI or Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. You can either find a local licensed agent or find a “licensed” online agency (like the one I work for; www.eHealthInsurance.com ).
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar n tn i just checked out the site. its for dental insurance plans. i misunderstood. the biggest problem i have found with these are many dentists dont accept it. again check the fine print and make sure you know all the restrictions. each plan has its own "catches" so read the information carefully. i checked into these plans and the only dentist that took it were foreign and involved in the aspen plan (see above post).
Avatar m tn I just keep hearing more and more stories about people losing their insurance. In those stories I am hearing about more and more people who do not qualify for subsidies, and if I lose my insurance me and my family is in that boat.... we do not qualify for subsidies. If the democrats were smart, they would have waited to put this out there. They would have worked more of the kinks out and that would have given the country a lot less to belly ache about.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar m tn Also, I do go to a dentist (who I like) twice a year for cleanings and routine things but he is out of network with any insurance. Everyother year I might have a surface cavity to take care of or repair a filling. SO I can't decide if I should go with Aetna High deductable plan 3000 or something like a Plan 100 2500 deductable from United HealthOne as long as I can get a HSA with either.
Avatar f tn Beginning in October, individuals in New York City who now pay $1,000 a month or more for coverage will be able to shop for health insurance for as little as $308 monthly. With federal subsidies, the cost will be even lower. Supporters of the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, credited the drop in rates to the online purchasing exchanges the law created, which they say are spurring competition among insurers that are anticipating an influx of new customers.
Avatar f tn Ya, sorry your insurance is maxed out. That's a problem with dental insurance, its very limited. Most plans don't cover very much in terms of dental treatment. I always felt that if health insurance was built like dental insurance, people would be very upset. Imagine if you had a car accident and your insurance company said they'll pay for one arm to be fixed but you gotta pay for your leg. I never understood why people tolerate insurance companies to partially pay for it.
1284791 tn?1271994267 I think you just need to check around & she what is offered in your state. It seems that each company can offer different coverage. I work for the post office & have GHI which covers 3 IVF's & unlimited IUI. My husband has Cigna insurance & we have a 30,000 cap on it for Any infertility treatments. I noticed pol79princess said that she has no coverage from cigna so I guess it just depends.
1310633 tn?1430224091 Actually my wife works for Wal-Mart and makes a decent wage and great insurance. Her insurance paid for my HCV treatment. But I’m not sure if I’m matching Apples to Apples because she works in the Pharmacy, which is considered a different branch from the rest of the store, and she has been there for years.
Avatar f tn * Limits annual out-of-pocket costs—deductibles and copayments—of insurance bought through an exchange for single people and families with moderate incomes. For example, a family of four now earning $60,000 could spend no more than $11,900 out-of-pocket for health care in a year.
Avatar n tn its getting more and more difficult to find free or low cost dental care. even dental schools have raised their rates considerably. if you are unable to work due to disability you can file for government aid. if not you can find a local dentist who will accept payment plans. when i found out i needed a root canal i found a second job as a grocery checker until i payed it off. the emergency room will not fix your teeth.

1310633 tn?1430224091 NEW YORK (CNNMoney) Americans may be able to keep their individual insurance plans for one more year, under a fix offered by President Obama on Thursday to address a controversial provision of the Affordable Care Act. Avatar n tn Awesome, thank you both very much. I've already learned to adjust and bend at the knees when I need to. And the pain seems to be slowly going away day by day. I'll be seeing my doctor next month and will let him know. Also, one thing I forgot to mention is that I do have a tooth that is basically broken in half...no dental insurance so haven't been to the dentist for it yet, wonder if that could have anything to do with it? Thanks again guys!
1176986 tn?1264917842 BadgerCare at a reduced or adjusted rate dependant upon your income. For low income families it can be very affordable. My employer offer health insurance but the state found it too costly for some of our empoyess, usually single mothers. They were allowed to purchase BadgerCare at a very reduced rate and refuse the more costly employer offered health insurance. My figures may not be exactly correct but that is the jest of BadgerCare.
Avatar f tn regulation of insurers to prevent discrimination against the less healthy, subsidies to help lower-income families buy insurance, and public insurance plans that compete with the private sector. His plan falls short of universal coverage, but it would sharply reduce the number of uninsured.
Avatar f tn How do ppl with no insurance pay for that? Or are there special government programs where families with no insurance don't have to pay...? What qualifies them? I'm just curious. I have insurance through the military, but I waa doing price research and it has to suck to have to pay out of pocket.
