ddavp

1216899 tn?1288570325 m still waiting on the free cortisol test results. I got a copy of my most recent blood test which was in Feb. and pretty much everything was normal. My sodium level was maxed out at 145. I am starting to wonder if my sodium level has anything to do with some of my symptoms. I started peeing my brains out in early March, and am still urinating way to much, (you all know the middle of the night trips).
Avatar m tn I dont think I have had the growth hormone stim test. What is it exactly? a blood test? I am desperate. I really think I need more hormones but can't seem to find a doctor that will. For how long have you had the Diabetes? Thank you for your help!
Avatar m tn One of the ways we would try to determine this was by prescribing DDAVP (if there were not any issues that would prevent using it). Desmopressin (trade names: DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men).
Avatar n tn She has also gone through many test on her bladder and all is normal. My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has experienced diabetes insipidus? The reason for the test is because I have been extremely thirsty and urinating almost every 1.5 hours a day. I received a copy of the test results. They tested my ADH level (arginine vasopressin) The results are L<1.0 Range:1.0-13.3 They say there are different types of diabetes insipidus, basically that the kidneys are doing what they are supposed to do or a pituitary issue.
Avatar f tn I am panhypopituitary (my pituitary does not function) and it is important that I know all my test results. it is always scary but the more you learn, it can take away the fear.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the information. They did a 'full thyroid' test which was drawn on Friday. I believe that is the thyroid antibodies test, also the US was done on Friday, I know about the nodule prior to report because I asked 'What is that?' and the tech said it looks like a nodule and she told me the measurements.
Avatar m tn ive never went this much during the night..i had to go get on some meds called ddavp to slow it down so i can sleep..
Avatar n tn My question is if this is necessary to put her right away on such an expensive tablet, if there is any other way to treat incontinence, how can he diagnose a missing hormone(sorry for my poor language) with a simple blood or urine test and can DDAVP be taken along with other drugs, in particular Clavamox.
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 26 and I had a non-secreting 3cm by 2cm macro adenoma removed from my pituitary about two years ago. Since then I have had regular MRI scans and Endo appointments. There was a small piece of the tumor left behind but six months ago I had a MRI and it had not grown since the MRI that was done post surgery. I am currently on 50 mcg levothyroxine and my endo told me all my other tests (six months ago also) were normal. Since surgery I have been extremely thirsty and urinating a lot.
Avatar f tn I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?
16141151 tn?1445607578 I called my endocrinologist who ordered some bloodwork to look at electrolytes which came back normal on the first test, then slightly elevated sodium on the second. Because I was still having clinical symptoms of DI she prescribed DDAVP (0.05mg AM, 0.05mg PM) (pill because I can't do nasal spray, still healing up there). I find the pills work for a period of time and then the symptoms come back (within 5-8 hrs).
Avatar f tn The medication used for this is called Dessmopressin or DDAVP. It is available in a pill form, nasal spray or injection. There are a few other conditions that can mimic this so it is important to get it ruled in or out. I have this and without medication I am also up every half hour drinking and peeing.i rec that you see a neuro endo to rule this out, your other pituitary hormones, and have a current MRI. It may be as simple as taking a little pill every night to help you to hold onto fluids.
186737 tn?1269884660 The sensitivity of Indium-111 labeled Octreotide Scan is only 60%, and the specificity is 90% which means that this not a good screening test, and hence given the high pre test probability of metastatic disease ( she has carcinoid syndrome which occurs in 10% of carcinoid tumors and implies metastasis beyong the lung) it would be better to reimage her with either I-Labeled Meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIPG) or with a whole body \Positron Emission Tomography (PET Scan).
1608004 tn?1390770990 ve had to do with the drug DDAVP it is meant to halt an over productive pituitary from making too much urine....than you want to give a tea to produce more urine.??? But it does sound as if you have done your research and seem to know what to do....good luck and keep us informed please....
Avatar f tn Other diagnostics such as pap smear, endometrial biopsy and lab tests such as thyroid function tests, CBC, pregnancy test, and serum ferritin will help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I was told that my test are normal, and am not satisfied with that answer. I am trying to find information on understanding test results as a whole and have become more confused, My TSH is 2.43, my T4 is 1.0, and the T3 306. I have many of the symptoms of low thyroid, and I just would like some one to give me an insight to these test results.
1546654 tn?1294411026 As your pituitary changes, you may have to take other hormones like DDAVP so if you find that you are thirsty or if you are tired, make sure you report that to the doctor.
Avatar n tn s, uroligists and a counselor and all of them are as puzzled as we are becuase they have no idea why she is continuing to pee. She does pee her pants at night but her pediatrition put her on DDAVP and that seems to be helping the night time weting but as for the day time weting we are at a loss. my husband and I have tryed everything to get her to stop peeing her pants from encouragement to punishment.
Avatar f tn I haven't had a stim test but have had saliva tests. Last one showed cortisol too low in the morning and too high at night. My sodium was on the low end of normal on my last labs and I am thirsty a lot and urinate often, but I don't have diabetes.
