Avatar m tn According to the Food and Drug Administration, nasal spray formulations of Desmopressin (Noctiva, others) are no longer recommended for treatment of bed-wetting due to the risk of serious side effects. Again, however, I can't stress enough that your friend should be checked by the GP, as an adult , this can signal other issues that need fairly prompt attention.
Avatar f tn Over the years my Diabetes Insipidus has fluctuated in terms of how much DDAVP I need to take. Unfortunately I pee/ and get thirsty without the med. Right now I am taking the smallest pill, and break it in half. I take it before I go to bed. I seem to be able to do ok without taking it during the day (because I can drink/pee as much as i need to. If I do not take the DDAVP at night I wake up 4-6 times needing to drink water and pee. What test said that you do not need DDAVP?
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
Avatar n tn Its toxicity depends on the route of administration, duration, exposure and dosage. The route of administration is the most important determinant of toxicity. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
407651 tn?1224189895 DDAVP Tablets are contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to desmopressin acetate or to any of the components of DDAVP Tablets. Avatar m tn Would this route of administration work similar to faster acting benzodiazepines such as Xanax or Ativan, or does it depend solely on having a steady amount of Klonopin in your bloodstream already? I'm confused; why would a doctor prescribe Klonopin for anxiety attacks (i.e., take it as needed)?
1216899 tn?1288570325 I only need to take a very small dose of DDAVP at night so that I am not getting up every hour to pee/drink. But now I can sleep! By day I just chug lots of fluids (2+ gallons) The hubby lovingly calls me a frat boy :) If you get diagnosed and if you go onto DDAVP, you will need really close supervision by a doctor as folks will have a tendency to overdo it on the DDAVP and overhydrate themselves. Until then drink lots!
1363339 tn?1338771053 I came across a DI, she use very small glass to control the water intake. She was advised by her endo. I can’t afford not taking ddavp. I had couple of times tried not taking it because I want to less depend on it, but it made me worse. I was so weak, the heart was beating so fast, peeing and drinking every 20 mins. 3 yrs ago I was admitted for uncontrolled DI. And for you not taking it during the day… I can’t imagine that. DI is painful indeed.
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar f tn Hi there. Do you know what type of tumor that you had? I ask as it is important to know as sadly some types are way more prone to grow back than others. I think it was really close to your optic nerve, not your eyes? So it sounds like it was a larger tumor and grew up into the optic chasm. My best guess is that it was a non-functioning tumor as those tend to be larger but it could have been anything. It is scary when your tumor may or may not be back. Mine grew back.
Avatar f tn So I have to take DDAVP most of the time now. Before I used to be able to get away with only taking it at night. Maybe this is part of what is going on. I don't really have answer per se, but just an idea on why it might fluctuate more if u have it.
Avatar f tn There is no benefit to taking this sublingually that I know of. Generally the reason you take anything that way is to get it into your system as quickly as possible or because saliva is beneficial to absorption. With 5-HTP, it takes some time for your system to react to it assuming your body finds it necessary to have more coming in -- if it doesn't, it just evacuates it. The same thing is true when you take medication targeted at serotonin, though they work quit differently.
Avatar f tn I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?
Avatar m tn The first posting talks about an upcoming phase2b/3 clinical trial in Asia. Yet StudyForhope posted results of a phase3 trial. Not sure how it works, but a drug company will conduct multiple trials of the same phase before progressing to the next stage?
649848 tn?1534633700 06 PM ET, Thu July 4, 2019 (CNN) Even by the chaotic standards of the Trump administration, the battle of whether to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census has become bizarre. The Supreme Court last Thursday temporarily barred the addition of the controversial question. In response, the President tweeted that he asked government lawyers if they can delay the census "no matter how long.
Avatar m tn Those generics are usually cheaper but they must contain the same active ingredient(s), the same dosage form, at the same dose or concentration, and for the same route of administration. The generics are usually cheaper and can use different inactive ingredients and preservatives which can sometimes cause trouble. Looks like you are getting the generic for from the Israel generic of Effexor. It must be the cheaper generic of Effexor around and maybe it is responsible for your problems.
Avatar f tn she will have 4 packets of oatmeal and a glass of milk in the am. Another possible symptom is nocturnal enuresis. She is on DDAVP at night .05 mg X approx. 4 months. If I remember to wake her up around 2am she may be dry, before the DDAVP she was going through 2 goodnights diapers a night... if I didn't change it midway she and the bed would be completely soaked. Anyway, her Thyroid was hyperactive, and she is allergic to Milk and Eggs (she did have hives when we were at the Dr).
Avatar n tn probably not medication related. give her lots of attention and positive upbeat games. 'train' her out of this winney habit and encourage her to be a dog again. if it continues, feel her all over and make sure she does not have any areas of pain that would need attention.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has successfully filed for disability because of Chiari? I am not able to do my previous job and am exploring all options!
Avatar m tn ive never went this much during the night..i had to go get on some meds called ddavp to slow it down so i can sleep..
Avatar f tn s actually an approved route of administration that allows for a slightly quicker onset of action versus orally (especially good in the even of a panic attack or something like that). Unless the dose of Ativan was a bit stronger, you likely will find that overall the Xanax works better. They're both benzos and both share tolerance and dependency (when taken regularly), so I guess I just don't understand the switch, especially if the Xanax was working for you.
