ddavp

1216899 tn?1288570325 m still waiting on the free cortisol test results. I got a copy of my most recent blood test which was in Feb. and pretty much everything was normal. My sodium level was maxed out at 145. I am starting to wonder if my sodium level has anything to do with some of my symptoms. I started peeing my brains out in early March, and am still urinating way to much, (you all know the middle of the night trips).
Avatar m tn I dont think I have had the growth hormone stim test. What is it exactly? a blood test? I am desperate. I really think I need more hormones but can't seem to find a doctor that will. For how long have you had the Diabetes? Thank you for your help!
Avatar m tn One of the ways we would try to determine this was by prescribing DDAVP (if there were not any issues that would prevent using it). Desmopressin (trade names: DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men).
Avatar n tn She has also gone through many test on her bladder and all is normal. My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has experienced diabetes insipidus? The reason for the test is because I have been extremely thirsty and urinating almost every 1.5 hours a day. I received a copy of the test results. They tested my ADH level (arginine vasopressin) The results are L<1.0 Range:1.0-13.3 They say there are different types of diabetes insipidus, basically that the kidneys are doing what they are supposed to do or a pituitary issue.
Avatar f tn I am panhypopituitary (my pituitary does not function) and it is important that I know all my test results. it is always scary but the more you learn, it can take away the fear.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the information. They did a 'full thyroid' test which was drawn on Friday. I believe that is the thyroid antibodies test, also the US was done on Friday, I know about the nodule prior to report because I asked 'What is that?' and the tech said it looks like a nodule and she told me the measurements.
Avatar m tn ive never went this much during the night..i had to go get on some meds called ddavp to slow it down so i can sleep..
Avatar f tn Cortisol has never been above 10, except during the stimulation test and never exceeded 20 on the stimulation test. I am now VERY frustrated because the endo says the stim test results are normal. Help! I need feedback on this...desperately want my life back. I don't want to have adrenal insufficiency, but something is wrong and answers are better than not knowing and no treatment. Here are the results from last two stim tests: February '12: 16.2 (baseline), 16.5, 16.
Avatar f tn ve recently found out that I am being tested for an adrenal tumor and/or congenital adrenal hyperplasia. I know nothing about either, but have been scheduled for an ACTH stimulation test on December 15th. I was given no information about the test, and have found limited information online. Basically what I am asking is... How should I prepare? And if any, are there side effects I should be worried about? I am emetophobic and absolutely detest the thought of nausea/vomiting.
Avatar f tn I am curious, when you all got your dx, you may have had the ACTH stimulation test. I was wondering what your results were. Mine shows 17 in a reference range of 10 to 60. Is that bad?
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the Adrenal stimulation test? The dr. is going to put ACTH into me to check for adrenal problems and pituitary gland problems. Did anyone have any side effects from it and did the test solve some of your problems.?
Avatar n tn My question is if this is necessary to put her right away on such an expensive tablet, if there is any other way to treat incontinence, how can he diagnose a missing hormone(sorry for my poor language) with a simple blood or urine test and can DDAVP be taken along with other drugs, in particular Clavamox.
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 26 and I had a non-secreting 3cm by 2cm macro adenoma removed from my pituitary about two years ago. Since then I have had regular MRI scans and Endo appointments. There was a small piece of the tumor left behind but six months ago I had a MRI and it had not grown since the MRI that was done post surgery. I am currently on 50 mcg levothyroxine and my endo told me all my other tests (six months ago also) were normal. Since surgery I have been extremely thirsty and urinating a lot.
Avatar f tn I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?
Avatar f tn My opinion based on lots of reading about different criteria is that this is a pretty normal stimulation test. You doubled from baseline and your baseline went over 20. However, I would say that I have come to understand that people with AI sometime "pass" their stim test, but are later diagnosed when it is repeated and then they fail. 11.7 is considered in range, yet some would say that a healthy morning cortisol should be close to 20.
Avatar f tn I finally got the dr's to do the cortrosyn stimulation test. The test came back normal except that my cortisol was below normal at the baseline according to my doctor. I will not get my written report for a week yet so I do not have the reference ranges. These are my results: Baseline 16 10-60 ACTH 7.7 cortisol below normal range 18 cortisol15 min mark 21 cortisol 30 min mark 19 cortisol 45 min mark 2.7 TSH 0.5 - 5.0 1.4 FT4 0.8 - 1.
4165941 tn?1353988628 My husband and I were told to try it in the hospital for a non-stress test. Talk about the most unstimulating environment in the world. Needless to say, it did zero.
Avatar f tn I am not sure why, but my Doc took me ACTH Stimulation test of 45 Min. As you can see in my test result, my ACTH level, Cortisol level was normal before stimulation. But my 17 OHP was high. And after ACTH Stim test, the cortisol and 17 OHP level increased. But how much they should increased, I am not sure. But apart from thses I have other symptoms like frequent period( in every 18-20 days), excess hairs on my body ( hirsutism), and hypothyriod.
