ddavp

Avatar f tn How do you wean off the medicine DDAVP? I've been taking this medicine for many years only to find out my tests say I don't need it (I had small injury to pituitary in brain). Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to wean off because it makes you go to the bathroom ALOT after the medicine ware's off! since it's an anti diuretic/water retaining pill! Confusing and tricky.
Avatar m tn But the hormone part can take a year, and will require periodic changes for the rest of your life. I also have DI. I hate it!!! At the beginning you have to be very careful about using too much DDAVP. I've seen many doctors since my surgery, and they do not understand the extreme thirst that we go through. They also tend to over medicate us. So make sure that you take periods in between doses to get rid of extra fluids. I found that weighing myself every morning to be very helpful.
Avatar m tn I guess your vet is suggesting using the DDAVP (Desmopressin) inhaler as eyedrops. From what I can tell, this stuff runs about $78 a bottle (less if you get more than one bottle). I am kind of confused as to why you are being prescribed DAVPP for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, because that's usually prescribed for CENTRAL Diabetes Insipidus, caused when the pituitary gland doesn't secrete enough ADH.
Avatar f tn I think I've brought up DI before with you. When I was on higher levels of opiates for pain it seemed to ease up my DI symptoms. Now that I'm off of the higher dose my DI is now in full-swing. So I have to take DDAVP most of the time now. Before I used to be able to get away with only taking it at night. Maybe this is part of what is going on. I don't really have answer per se, but just an idea on why it might fluctuate more if u have it.
1216899 tn?1288570325 ve already had one surgery for a CSF leak and am going back to California in May for another round of testing to see if it has come back and they can pinpoint it- I dunno if you have this though just throwing it out at you since you are in the process of being diagnosed. Hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn Yes, he's going to Kansas City, MO. I don't think he's going to begin his practice there for a few more months, and no word what hospital he will be with yet. He was my NS too and I was/am so bummed out that he left, especially because I'm in the Cleveland area! :( I am going to see Dr. Luciano in a few weeks. I heard he's a little bit of a jerk, but I'm going to try not to judge till I see him for myself. In any case, he apparently trained Dr.
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
Avatar n tn You might ask a Planned Parenthood if they have a health clinic nearby as I know we have one in Sacramento that has everything, though we also have several small health clinics for low-income people.
Avatar m tn Hi again- There is an organization in England called the Pituitary Foundation. They have wonderful programs and information about all things pituitary. They used to even have a nurse practitioner that you could call with questions. Like Rumpled said abive the hormones are important! It is very possible that you've got Thyroid and growth hormone levels that are off. Even your sex hormones like testosterone could be off too.
Avatar n tn Continued with Keppra and Di Tan Tang 2X/day each for another 8 days. Then took her Keppra down to 1/day for 2 weeks. Then she went one day with no Keppra and the next day she had a seizure. This seizure was longer, but her disorientation was shorter. Vet then said to go back to giving her Keppra for 30 days and we will re-evaluate. So for the next 30 days she was taking Keppra 1/day and Di Tan Tang 2/day.
Avatar f tn That seems to be the magic number for some reason. In the meantime, they could put you on a trial of DDAVP (desmopressin) at the very lowest dose, just at night and you can see how you do. They make it in a pill form and a nasal spray. i do better on the pill. But others swear by the spray! Then you can add it to the day as well if you need to. One thing that will help your doc is to measure your input and output for a few days.

Avatar m tn Hello~First, your friend needs to be examined by the GP, there could be some reasons for this such as Diabetes, urinary track issues, infections, or other issues with the kidneys and/or bladder. There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea.
Avatar f tn The tumor was germinoma. Yes u are right it was the optic nerve. I don't know for sure if my pituitary gland still functions I take ddavp, I also took growth hormones in the past and I take l cortef. But I'm not sure. Thanks so much I have a docs visit soon and Ill ask him more about my tumor. Thanks again for your help. And about the scar tissue he wants another MRI and then him and other docs will decide to do a biopsy or something els.
Avatar f tn I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?
Avatar m tn hi,,,tanong ko po if ano alternative medicine for hepa B, ngpatest po kasi aq pero ang mamahal ng med.(inj.) sana po matulungan niyo ko.
Avatar m tn For those of you looking for a great Chiari Doctor I would hold out for him if you can. I recently saw Dr. Di in July of 2010 he left surgery up to me and although I cancelled the surgery when I do determine to finally do it I will go to him no matter what. And I live in Seattle so he see how committed I am. His demeanor is second to none and his intellectual approach to CM is off the charts.
Avatar m tn Well I just can't get ahard on no more. It was great for 61 years even though I had a stroke I could still perform. But now it won't even get hard and the last two pills I've been taking are ther one for your prostrate and another for high blook pressure.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies, congrats on your twins! I'm 21 weeks, just so you know, your doc cannot tell you this early if your twins are identical or fraternal, being in 2 diff sacs doesn't mean they're fraternal. The ultrasound doc will tell you at your 20 week scan what type of twins your having, mo/mo, di/di or mo/di but still, if your having same sex babies they'll only know for sure after they're borne through dni. At least thats what i was told. Im having di/di boys.
