Ddavp and platelet dysfunction

Common Questions and Answers about Ddavp and platelet dysfunction

ddavp

Avatar f tn When I first started using DDAVP ~9 years ago i had to weigh myself every day and measure my input and urine output to get the "hang" of it. The rule was if I gained more than two pounds in day I was to cut back on my fluid intake and dose. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Mine is partial so it ebbs and flows a bit and I do have to adjust my DDAVP dose sometimes. Without DDAVP my fluid consumption is 4 or more gallons a day. At first, I kept a fluid intake and output diary. Also I weighed myself every morning to see if I was taking to much medication and/or not consuming the right amount of fluids. And yes, for me the best approach has ended up to take DDAVP just at night so that I can sleep without having to get up every 1/2 hour to drink and pee.
Avatar f tn she will have 4 packets of oatmeal and a glass of milk in the am. Another possible symptom is nocturnal enuresis. She is on DDAVP at night .05 mg X approx. 4 months. If I remember to wake her up around 2am she may be dry, before the DDAVP she was going through 2 goodnights diapers a night... if I didn't change it midway she and the bed would be completely soaked. Anyway, her Thyroid was hyperactive, and she is allergic to Milk and Eggs (she did have hives when we were at the Dr).
Avatar f tn In contrast to spontaneous atherosclerosis, a more significant denuding endothelial injury appears to be the critical initiating event, followed by intense platelet involvement and thrombus formation, leading to an initial predominant process of smooth muscle cell proliferation in accelerated atherosclerosis. Risk factors like cigarette smoking and hypertension play an important role in this process.
Avatar f tn I would not do anything and would not worry about this unless there were other indications that you had platelet dysfunction (abnormal bleeding, low platelet count, low blood counts, etc). This is a common issue that arises when patients get the lab reports that show a "L" or "H" highlighted by the computers next to results that are actually not concerning and normal findings. Hope that provides some reassurance.
Avatar m tn Hi, Do not feel embarrassed, such problems are quite common and doctors are there to help you. So, do consult a urologist and get appropriate treatment. Here is a link that gives a lot of details about this problem: http://www.nafc.
Avatar m tn Has anyone heard of MS causing a drop in platelet count? I have many symptoms of MS, but have had clean brain and cervical MRI's as well as normal emg and nerve conduction study. However, my platelets have been a little low on three blood tests 135,127, and 141.
2025701 tn?1328919633 evaluate results with caution, the wbc and the platelet count may be altered due to the interference caused by the presence of significant numbers of large/giant platelets." Has anyone experinced this and why were my platelets so good a month ago (2 mnths post tx)?
Avatar n tn The product labels for both formulations of peginterferon recommend dose reductions for patients with platelet counts between 50,000 and 80,000 cells/µL and discontinuation of therapy if platelet counts fall below 25,000-50,000 cells/µL. Treatment with peginterferon has been shown to reduce platelet counts by up to 33%.
Avatar f tn It was mentioned on here that they will not happen that scar tissue will develop and I can expect not to get my platelet count to a level that I will feel good again. anyone have any knowledge why I would be getting conflicting opinions or is this just a wait and see game I'll have to play??? Thanks in advance and wishing everyone good health...
478228 tn?1215161484 Pathogenetic mechanisms include hypersptenism secondary to portal hypertension, bone marrow suppression resulting from either HCV itself or interferon treatment, aberrations of the immune system resulting in the formation of anti-platelet antibodies and/or immune-complexes that bind to platelets and facilitate their premature clearance, development of immunologically-mediated extrahepatic manifestations including mixed cryoglobulinemia with or without associated joint, renal, or cutaneous invol
Avatar f tn I am due for my bloodwork again soon, and want to be sure to get the right test. Thank you so much for any info you can give me....
Avatar n tn To start plavix or ASA before stopping Hepirin, could have substantially decreased the platelet count and put your mother at a high risk of a hemorhage. Its a judgment by your doctor that weighs the risk/ benefit of treatment. Sorry to hear of your loss and my condolences.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 13 years old and has always & still struggles with bed wetting. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 1.5 years ago. Her endocrinologist does not believe the wetting has to do with her diabetes. If her blood sugars are high before she goes to bed we can almost be 100% sure she will have a wet bed, but most times her sugars are in range and she might still wet. She has also gone through many test on her bladder and all is normal.
Avatar f tn Just had to share with those of you who have been giving me insight and guidance that I got all the results of my labs back (HIV, Lyme, Neurosphyilis, and Free T4) all came back NEGATIVE!!! This is a HUGE relief!!! Not that I actually thought that I had any of these but just being tested is extremely nerve racking!!! My platelet count is still elevated though to 444 and don't know what could cause that, but relieved everything is falling in line!!! Thanks again for all your support!!!
Avatar m tn My wife aged 40 years (wt 65kg) developed erratic menstrual bleeding symptoms during last 30days. The Doctor recommended many tests out of which the following results were found abnormal : Free T3 was 1.38 pg/ml and Free T4 > 6 ng/dL. TSH was 2.520 ulU/mL . She has diabetes and takes regular insulin. The Doctor is yet to diagnose. May please advise what more tests / diagnostics are required and what do the above indicate ?

186737 tn?1269884660 Supine BP is between 120/70 - 135/80. Standing BP may drop to 70/40. ~2 months ago she started DDAVP and Octreotide and those have helped her substantially, however, she still has a very low exercise tolerance, shortness of breath wiht only little exertion, and some syncope. Could she still have carcinoid tumors in spite of the negative octreotide scan and is there a better scanning technique than an octreotide scan for detecting carcinoid tumors?
Avatar m tn I ADORE collies, they are my breed of choice and I just got a puppy a month or so ago after I lost my sable and white female, Katie, last May. I'd love to see pics!
Avatar m tn His CBC says that his platelet count is good, and the lack of bleeding/bruising elsewhere would tend to say there is no platelet dysfunction nor coagulation disorder. I don't think that antibiotics would cause bleeding, except rarely in the case of a drug reaction - which reaction apparently did not occur.
Avatar f tn Patients with high IgG antibody titers against HHV-6 and EBV who were suffering from central nervous system dysfunction and debilitating fatigue for more than one year (median 3 years, range 1−8 years) were treated with 6 months of valganciclovir in an open label study. Results: Nine out of 12 (75%) patients experienced near resolution of their symptoms, allowing them all to return to the workforce or full time activites.
Avatar f tn Measurements were made of platelet aggregation, platelet-monocyte conjugate formation (P/M), platelet-neutrophil conjugate formation (P/N), platelet activation (CD62P on monocytes and neutrophils), and leukocyte activation (CD11b on monocytes and neutrophils) in response to collagen and/or arachidonic acid. In the in vitro study several cocoa flavanols and their metabolites were shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, P/M, P/N, and platelet activation.
Avatar f tn m 17yrs old I had a tumor that was attached to the pituitary gland when I was 12 it was removed partially the rest was removed with chemo and radiation due to being attached to my eyes. when I was 15 it came back I had chemo and radiation and it was gone now I had an MRI done and apperantly my doc sees what can be scar tissue or the tumor again. Can some one explain what scar tissue is and if it's in any way bad for me or it's long term side effects please and thank you!!!
