After a week, I was told it was not fully healed, and to just continue with the antiviral salve. The pupil in the effected eye is still slightly dialated and my vision is still a little blurry. Is this normal? How long can it take for the herpes outbreak to heal? Also, and advise on dealing with a recurrence?
This dr worked at UCSF, specializing in Chiari. He averages over 50 decompression surgeries/yr, he's been published re: Chiari surgical options, and he was recommended by a mother who's 4 year old saw him last year: had decompression surgery, and who only had good things to say. He's also not 70 yrs old + like the other dr in my area that's been recommended. Those add up to some pretty good chiari credentials IMO.
Since diabetes is a pre-existing condition, insurance is very expensive. If anyone on here knows of any good prices on insurance for diabetics, please share--it would be greatly appreciated!
Some great resources for locating free and low cost clinics are the two links I have listed below. These clinics usually require proof of income to be eligible for services (which can include doctor's visits and even lab work).

I have been a type 1 diabetic for 19 years and have resently found myself without insurance. My family income is just over the acceptable level for medicaid and I cannot pay for my insulin or the doctor vistits or the needed labs. Does any one have information that might help me?

I am a 20 year old female who suffered a TBI in March of 2008 (concussion, short term memory loss-nothing horrendously serious). After getting back into the swing of things, I seemed fine, I was fine. Then about 8 months ago I started having daily horrible headaches (first in no central location, just all over pain), "wavery" vision, nausea and weight loss (about 10-15lbs in 2 months).
After eating certain things, particular salty foods and dairy, I have been getting lightheaded, headaches, change in vision, dizzy, and sometimes, nausea. I noticed when I eat the salty foods, I also get tense around my arms and ankles, and having head pressure and dizziness. The symptoms seem to sometimes affect me all over too, with tension throughout my body. I have been going through this for about four months now, and have been to 3 doctors now, and they have no idea what it could be.
