Avatar f tn Does cymbalta cause weight gain? The doctor wants me to take it for chronic headaches but 5 years ago I took Lexapro and that made me gain weight! Help!
8496079 tn?1398412516 I take cymbalta for the pain in my hips. I find it works relatively well.
209591 tn?1267414714 s might say or do, if I tell them how I have been feeling this last few months. What can I do to help me get out of this funk? Could it be the chronic pain I experience, that is causing this depression?

804276 tn?1480858056 i want to start taking cymbalta for bipolar depression and chronic pain and wondered if anyone takes this, what the side effects are and how it helped with pain and depression. i take prozac and lortab and would like to get off the lortab and can't take prozac all the time because it makes me severely anxious if i'm not in a major depression. any advice or experience stories would be helpful.
4186651 tn?1357830957 A pain program I went through a few years ago put everyone on cymbalta (an anti-depressant that was found to work for chronic pain). I know that lots of people find relief with it. Personally, I was unable to tolerate it. It gave me migrane, vomiting, and non-stop crying. I only made it a few days before I stopped taking it.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either. I was just started on Lyrica and have noticed a slight decrease in pain but I still have flares that are unbearable. I wish I could offer you suggestions but so far, I'm in the same boat as you.
Avatar m tn Reading your post gives me some encouragement that maybe there are answers for my misery. Keeping a pain diary is a great idea because the intensity does vary throughout the day. Sometimes I get so fatigued I can hardly carry on a conversation or think. I am an educated and intelligent person so this is also very frustrating. Do find that diet has any effect on your symptoms? Are there foods you avoid?
Avatar m tn If so I feel cymbalta has not touched my chronic pain. I thought Lexapro was one that doctors used for pain with depression /anxiety but could be mixing them up. If you do have chronic pain as well ask about Pristique. mY pain management dr. says it is more effective in treating pain with depression/anxiety than cymbalta but I cannot take it because it makes me throw up (it is similiar to Effexor and i throw up with Effexor too...
Avatar m tn Cymbalta will help with nerve pain in higher dose's, im on 180mg per day for depression and pain, it works great with dep. and not real well for pain. But sometimes we do get pain from deperrsion. It can have an effect on sex somewhat. Give the cymbalta a try, keep your Dr informed as to any side effects you might have.
630344 tn?1280104983 This week I will be starting a double-blind study to see if 30 mg is effective for FMS pain. I won't know for some time if I'm using the placebo or the actual Cymbalta. I am sensitive to medications and I am a skeptic, since I've done badly on everything I've tried before. I do more natural therapy than I do pharmaceutical. I guess I will also find out if this stuff will help with the number of and intensity of the chronic migraines, too.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 months ago due to a severe case of endometriosis. I had a lot of back pain & I thought after I had a hysterectomy that pain would go away.....it hasn't yet. I was wondering if cymbalta would be good for my back pain? My lower back hurts a lot & I didn't know if they would complicate things. I just want some answers...maybe you can help.
Avatar f tn How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
Avatar f tn I meant to write 14 years on the antideppressant, not 34 years! Mayybe the uncoodination...no, just a typo!
1128643 tn?1262483649 Hello there, Cymbalta is a SNRI which mean it will affect your serotonin level but also your norepinephrine level which can be translated into adrenaline which results into a energy boost and less pain. I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica for chronic nerves pain due to compression of the suboccipital triangle causing pressure on the C2 originating nerves resulting in occipital neuralgia and myofacial pain.

Avatar n tn I also was taking prescription medication for sleep. I tried Cymbalta for pain a couple of years ago and it was not a good fit for me. I also took Ativan as well for anxiety. A lot of people have success with it. It would help to know what kind of pain you have and who treats you for it. Do you see a pain management specialist or some other kind of doctor? Pain management doctors/clinics, as a rule, use other things as well as medication. You may benefit from some type of procedure.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
237152 tn?1206651036 I can 2nd the cymbalta idea. chronic pain is depressing! We may not realize it at first but it catches up with us. It will put you in a good frame of mind & it helps with neuropathic pain. Can you try the Lyrica first & then if it doesn't help enough or at all, try the topamax? You can take the celebrex as needed. It helps prn. The others- topamax, lyrica, cymbalta have to build up and remain in your system.
