Avatar f tn I 23 and have been suffering from pain for a very long time, and all other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.recently a doctor decided it was fibromyalgia. I have started on Cymbalta 4 weeks ago, 60mg and have found no pain releif, but have found that im getting some energy back. Is it known to be benificial to be on cymbalta and lyrica at the same time? any recomendations i would greatly appriciate!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Actually cymbalta is not just an antidepressant. Cymbalta works to relieve fibromyalgia pain is not entirely understood but it's thought that by increasing the activity of two naturally-occurring substances -- serotonin and norepinephrine -- it suppresses pain. I have been on Cymbalta for several years and know that it does help. I was unable for a period of four or five months to obtain cymbalta so ran out.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.
Avatar f tn I go back to the Dr on the 14th and am considering asking him about Cymbalta. Has anyone taken this? What are the side affects? I read it will help with the pain and the anxiety. I have anxiety attacks when I am in a lot of pain. Since they went hand-in-hand I thought maybe this would be a good one to try. But I wanted opinions first. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Cymbalta for their Fibromyalgia? I have recently been put on this by my Rheumatologist. It seemed to help at first, but now I really don't feel it is helping. He has also suggested Lyrica, which I am trying to avoid because of the weight gain I have heard goes along with it. He has also suggested I try Enbrel because I also have Ankylosing Spondylitis. The fibromyalgia is a result of the arthritis and they just enable each other. I need some relief!!
Avatar m tn My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !
1627868 tn?1333889942 I'm currently on Cymbalta because I have fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and depression. It helps with the pain but I was on Prozac before and it helped more with the depression.
Avatar m tn So if im on oxys, and i go on suboxone, i can take cymbalta safely and it will help with withdrawls and depression?
Avatar f tn I found out I have fibromyalgia. The Dr put me on cymbalta 60 mg. I went back and told him I was still hurting and felt drepress more, crying. He upped the cymbalta to 120 mg a day. I fell sad and dont feel like my self. I am still hurting but not as bad. Can someone help me please!
177382 tn?1253044740 tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline work very well on pain and sleep. Low dose taken at night. Baclofen is a muscle relaxer and pain reducer to look into. Soma is also a muscle relaxer with some pain relief. Lyrica is not always a good choice. If you have addiction issues or are on any meds that may lower your seizure threshold or have had seizures, it is not for you. Take your doctors word but ask him/her about these other options.
Avatar f tn Well that was a last Monday, its Saturday, I have never felt headaches and pain like this in my life, and I have fibromyalgia, I know pain. I have made the decision to stick it out and get off, I don't want to take a drug that is going to makes me feel this way if I were to miss a dose...I feel like this should be on the bottle, some type of warning, I started looking for Cymbalta side effects as that literally is the only change in my life.
1442059 tn?1340244552 I have depression and anxiety. I did try Cymbalta and it helped with my depression but did nothing for my anxiety so I quit taking it. The above poster is right, this med is stimulating so if you do decide to take it start at the lowest dose possible. You might want to consider taking an antidepressant that helps both anxiety and depression. Keep us up to date and let us know what you decide to do. We're here for you.
735919 tn?1236448149 I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.
Avatar n tn I suffer from fibromyalgia and neurophy daily. When the pain is severe I can hardly stand it. Are there any new approaches to this condition. I am taking vicoden, cymbalta, pamelor and neurotyn?
Avatar n tn Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, home treatment can relieve some of the symptoms. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
1399618 tn?1286469531 He is on meds' for his back issues' oxy's and endocet however this doesn't seem to touch the pain area in his joints other than his back. He has had severe weight gain, tingling in fingers', hands etc. Often complains of headache. The pain killers' hes' on just dont' work on all of these points I have listed. He could sleep 24/7 if you let him. He will sit at the pc and fall asleep. Could it be that some nerve is again relevant to his pain or are these actual signs' of fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia and so does my mother. From what I have learned it can stay the way it is now for the rest of your life or it can get worse. Try to stay on a daily routine sleep when your tired and don't overdue yourself, the best you can do is take good care of yourself hoping to help it not get worse. Very true, as bad as it gets for you.
Avatar f tn Hey Suzy. Welcome to the forum. Oxycodone @ 10mg injected will produce the SAME results as morphine for most people. I'm mentioning this to point out that these types of drugs are opioid drugs, potentially habit forming narcotic drugs. The fact that they are prescribed legally, does not make them any less dangerous than street drugs, other than the fact that their "quality" and strength are consistent with what they claim.
Avatar m tn Following a good organic diet for borth migraine and fibromyalgia helps and avoiding stress. I have blackout shades in my home and NO FLOURESCENT BULBS!!! Warm baths are great. I've been watching some research at Stanford and hoping for success there. It's non narcotic and inexpensive. You can catch a youtube film about it by looking up stanford fibromyalgia. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, Trazadone and Flexeril at night to help with sleep and muscle spasms, and I am on Zoloft and bloodpressure meds. I went a long time with no pain meds then to Tramadol then to Lortab, etc.... I have very high pain levels on a daily basis plus I have a high tolerance to meds so the weaker ones never worked well for me. The meds I am on now help more than anything else ever has and I am so thankful! I still have pain but it is a lot easier to deal with now.
710094 tn?1229312306 Less blood could be flowing to your brain and/or it is overwhelmed by pain signals . Take omega 3 fish and flax oils and gingko biloba along with good b vitamins / multivitamins . Brain fog is common in chronic pain conditions . Also try to avoid wheat completely for few days and see it helps (wheat gluten allergy) , Take lots of rest , I am taking cymbalta and it has helped me with pain and brain function . Never loose hope , we are in this together , you will feel better soon .
358486 tn?1294779988 this leads to Fibromyalgia, but not in all the cases, of course. It is also noted that those who complain of more pain after the surgery, have more chance of developing fibromyalgia. One more reason thought to be implicated in post surgery fibromyalgia is ..... the neck is hyper-extended while doing the intubation and this constitutes a neck injury! Hope that helps.
639385 tn?1266214505 I have been on 120mg for several years, and I am now out of work with pain/Fibromyalgia and depression that just won't lift. I was reduced from 120mg to 90mg to try and slowly get me off of the Cymbalta. Within a few days, it threw me into an uncontrollable crying mess. Put back on the 120mg but still feel like crapp.
3202069 tn?1345408082 I also eat something light like oatmeal, cheerios or a couple of scrambled eggs and take my pain medication. then when that kicks in I stretch, pray and try to move around, My bladder bothers me too since I have Interstitial cystitis. I get up several times to go to the restroom. I have been having alot of pain in my bladder and back and going to the doctor Tuesday. It is so hard to get motivated when your in pain. You don't even want to move.
Avatar n tn What can be done about the chronic Fibromyalgia pain when I am allergic to pain medicines or the pain relievers do not give relief.
587071 tn?1218545987 Every thing came out okay but I still have the lumps. My family doctor thinks fibromyalgia is all in my head and its not a real disease. How ever the rumatodaligist thought the other way.Since I had know swelling of my joints they ruled out arthrities. Even though I dont think I have fibromyalgia it could be that I do.I just have a feeling that there is more going on with me.Some days I'm so scared because my body hurts so bad and I cant do any thing for it.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta is prescribed for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Fibromyalgia, Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain, and Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain. So I am not that sure that many people on this site are experienced with it. We do have forums on anxiety, depression, pain management, etc. I think you might have better luck posting there. The one thing that I do know is that this is a med you do not want to stop suddenly if you decide to stop taking it.
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it. All in all, it's well worth the unpleasant side effects for me.
