Cymbalta for nerve pain relief

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta for nerve pain relief

cymbalta

Avatar m tn Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
Avatar n tn t afford it after a health plan change whch is definitely showing me it worked for the pain. LOL I have pain pump I hope they wll be able to do something in that for te nerve pain.
Avatar n tn Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if you do have ms and it is the type that causes nerve pain and muscle spasms when you start taking the drugs they put you on do you get relief from the pain?
Avatar f tn (I also have fibromyalgia.) I did stellate ganglion blocks for the nerve pain and have had varying relief with them. Maybe it's something you could ask about. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn There are alot of different medications to try for nerve pain. The one your on isn't working well for you , probably due to a tolerance to the medicine. Take the Dr.'s advice.
1298907 tn?1272886488 Hello all, I hope everyone is doing well today. It seems as if spring has finally come to Idaho! The sun is out & I'm excited to get out & try & work in my garden now that I'm feeling better this year! Yaaay! Can anyone tell I'm a stay at home mom who likes to talk? My 2 year old keeps me company all day & Lord knows I love him with all my heart but sometimes we all just need a little bit of adult conversation!
358486 tn?1294776388 All the Med r the same more or less they help with depression and nerve pain. And for u ear and the load sounds. Maybe ur jaw is out of line. R u haven any face pain? U might have tmj.
Avatar f tn She takes cymbalta for nerve damage and pain and it helps with a number of things you listed vibrations vertigo etc, is also a anti depressant and it gives you energy. She is also taking neurontin for nerve pain as well as vicodin when it gets really bad. I hope this is some use to you.
Avatar n tn Hey Paula and welcome to the MS Forum. In response to your post I would like to say that the Cymbalta may take a bit of time to start showing you any relief. Many of us here suffer from this "Nerve Pain" and it is not pleasant but you may have to try a few different meds before you find the one that will work for that pain. I have tried topamax, neurontin, lyrica, tegretol and finally they tried elavil (amitriptyline) for the pain in my legs and it seems to have helped.
Avatar f tn Nerve pain should be treated with something like neurotin or Lyrica that specifically works on nerve pain. Narcotics will not do much to help that sort of pain. Hope you get to feeling better soon!
Avatar m tn I've had them but caught it within 48 hours so my primary care put me on acyclovir, which cuts the duration as well as the aeverity. I think you might be too far in for an antiviral. Narcotics aren't the best way to treat shingles pain. Ask for neurontin or lyrica. Cymbalta may work but that takes longer to kixk in. Treating shingles pain is pretty basic. If your doctor doesn't take your pain seriously, you might want to look at finding a new doctor.
Avatar n tn According to the Mayo Clinic website, seizures are three to six times more common in people with MS than in the general population. The anxiety attacks are probably not caused by MS, but having one problem doesn't make you immune to having another problem-unfortunately. Weakness, and other sensory problems are what most of us get from being too hot. I recommend getting an MRI for starters.
Avatar m tn Again I know that there are many other first line medicines for nerve pain that most of whcih Ive tried, neurontin, lyrica, amitrypilline, acupuncture and some others, but I dont want to go use any sort of opiate for pain. So has anyone who has taken klonopin who had some kind of nerve pain get any relief???? That is the question. Thanks.
237053 tn?1258828426 t let their name (antidepressants) stop you from trying them for relief from pain, they work. I take neurontin for nerve pain, which was originally meant to be an anti seizure med. They work. My advice is try a half like you said. Give it a month or two. If it doesn't give you relief, there may be another one that you can try. Cymbalta is also a good one. I am not in the medical field so don't take this as med. advice, just speaking from personal experience.
Avatar f tn I was put on it for nueropathic pain up my neck n down my arm. I have severe nerve damage. Cymbalta took all the pain away in my neck n some other nerve pain. I love it. It truely helped me. I also am on neurontin.
Avatar f tn I have been taking the remeron for a couple of months and love it, but the doctor has added Cymbalta to the mix for nerve pain. I have only been taking it for 3 days but my anxiety has it the roof and it has not touched my pain. I realize it takes a while for it to get in your system but I am not sure I can handle the anxiety. Are these 2 drugs safe to take together? I worry about seratonin syndrome.
Avatar n tn I have been told that it is permenent and that i could take Cymbalta. I refused and live with the pain. I need suggestions on how to deal with this. It affects my sleep, my mood with my children adn husband and my outlook on life. I cant find anything on the nerve pain affiliated with this condition. Idea????
Avatar f tn Do you all have nerve pain and that is why the nerve drugs? I was on Neurontin and it didn't help my pain at all. As I tapered off of it I got pain flares about twice a week (worse than my usual pain). I am actually doing better without any pain meds and without nerve drugs but once I increase my actiivity I am going to have to go back on something. All the docs push Cymbalta. They must get a kick back from the pharmas.
Avatar f tn I have been on Remeron for a few months and it has really helped with my anxiety. Recently my Doctor added cymbalta for nerve pain. This is only my third day with the cymbalta and my anxiety level is shooting through the roof. Also I have this dang ringing in my ears that does not want to go away. I questioned my doctor about taking remeron and cymbalta together and asured me that they work great together. I honestly don't know if I can stand this feeling.
Avatar f tn I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues. However, my insurance is not picking up the Cymbalta, so my dr ordered Paroxetine in its place.
664365 tn?1225157789 I was told it can take 3-6 months for the nerves to heal. I hope you can fin some relief as I know the pain you are feeling. I work full-time and it is sooo hard to get through the work day. All I want to do is lay down.
Avatar f tn One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain. If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain. Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
Avatar f tn Hi, its me again sorry to bother everyone, but, I have been very very depressed over the past few months, as you all know I have the missed heart beats and so on, I have been seeing a pshychiatrist for the depression, doc has just changed my medication from Avanza to 'Cymbalta' has anyone heard of this drug, he said it would be very safe, but I dont know how it will effect my ever ectopic heart.
