Cymbalta for pain and depression

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta for pain and depression

Avatar f tn It did not help for pain much, I gained over 15 lbs., and the relief for depression was not what I hoped for. Please bear in mind that my winter depression includes agoraphobia (fear of leaving home). I regret taking Cymbalta!!! BTW, I was taking Wellbutrin all the while, & still am with greater success. Don't underestimate the power of Chinese remedies & yoga (as much as you're able) for Fibro & depression. I'm so sick of expensuve medication that jacks me up even more...
Avatar m tn Cymbalta will help with nerve pain in higher dose's, im on 180mg per day for depression and pain, it works great with dep. and not real well for pain. But sometimes we do get pain from deperrsion. It can have an effect on sex somewhat. Give the cymbalta a try, keep your Dr informed as to any side effects you might have.
Avatar f tn I took Cymbalta for depression, however, I noticed a relief in pain of FMS with my first dosage. I discontinued it when I began taking Ultram (as they sometimes do not mix well). Anything that requires a prescription will come with certain needs to try the medication to see how it works and weigh if the difference in pain is significant enough for them to continue taking, as compared with the side-effects. What helps one, may not help the other.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta is an SNRI which may make a difference for you. I took it for about 2 years and had no side effects.
Avatar m tn So if im on oxys, and i go on suboxone, i can take cymbalta safely and it will help with withdrawls and depression?
Avatar m tn Hello, I am currently on Cymbalta for issues with L5S1 and have a lot of pain. I started it about 3 months ago. Although it is an SSRI (helps with depression and anxiety) , they say it also helps with low back pain. The first month I started it, I really thought I felt a difference. The pain was not completely gone, but it had let up. Now that I have been on it for 3 months I kind of feel like I hit a plateau and can't really tell if it is helping or not (for the pain).
1627868 tn?1333889942 I'm currently on Cymbalta because I have fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and depression. It helps with the pain but I was on Prozac before and it helped more with the depression.
596143 tn?1226651654 anyway, my question is--Has anyone had luck with cymbalta? And does cymbalta work for fibro and cfs? Why isn't he referring me to a neuro or a pain mgmt doc?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been on 10mg of Lexapro since September 2010 and I must admit that is has helped with anxiety and depression. At first i had energy and didn;t have sleep issues but for the past couple of months i've been very sluggish and groggy. The doc decided to switch me to Cymbalta. I will start at 30mg and work my way up to 60 mg. I'm a little concerned about making the switch because it makes me wonder if the whole gettting on a medication process will take place all over again.
400867 tn?1371756694 Other than Paxil, nothing else has worked for me (Lexapro and Effexor). Anyone have any good experiences with Cymbalta? Just wondering what I'm in for this time... Thanks!!
922573 tn?1304102929 I have issues with depression and anxiety and have been on an SSRI for over a decade with good results. My PCP also wanted to try Cymbalta and titrated me off my SSRI and into Cymbalta. I nearly had to be hospitalized due to very, very dark thoughts and hopelessness. I was quickly put back on my SSRI and taken off of Cymbalta. This of course is my personal experience and not applicable to all.
1168718 tn?1464987135 I'm not sure what you take Cymbalta for. I take it for depression and it helps. It also seems to help with the pain. Not alot of pain relief but a little is awesome.
Avatar n tn I was tried on Cymbalta for treatment of severe pain and what they thought was depression, ummm hello! anyone in severe pain for years would be depressed seems a pretty normal reaction. I'd be worried if someone was giddy about it. ANNYYHOO . The Cymbalta gave me really wierd effects, jaw clenching twitchy feeling eyes rolling and crawly feeling on my skin. Dr said serotonin toxicity.

1442059 tn?1340244552 I was on Cymbalta for 5 months. Only side-effects I had was nausea for about 1 week then it went away. Cymbalta was very energetic and helped me going thru the hard time I was dealing when my mom had cancer. When she passed I stopped cold turkey and had brain zaps for 1 month. This drug is very potent and can work very well but it's not a cheap drug and cost a lot. I was very active while being on Cymbalta (going to the gym 3-4 times a week and jogging 45 min everyday) and very outgoing.
Avatar f tn I had to wait 24hrs and then I was put on suboxone for withdrawal and drug cravings and Cymbalta for pain management and depression. (I have been on antidepressants for 30yrs.) Anyway, this combination has been a miracle for me as my pain has been completely manageable with OTC if needed, have had no urge to use, nor any depression issues.
1168718 tn?1464987135 I have been getting these lumps all through my body, and they are painful at times, and I think he thought maybe it would work for pain and help me sleep better to, I do take Zoplicone to sleep 2x7.5 mg. pills................ I know this is alot of info, but since I am now injecting, I am wondering how all this is going to work.
Avatar f tn I took cymbalta for almost a year and it made me severely nauseated and it seemed to help the depression for a short time but then I got more depressed on it.It was hard to get off of it for me. I will never take it again, the side effects were worse than what I was trying to treat. I am not trying to knock the drug, I am sure it helps others but it's not for me.
Avatar m tn Why you are having this med for depression ? If you can get tianeptine. It would be the best med for depression with minimum side effects .
Avatar f tn The Cymbalta worked well for my depression, I was on it for a few years... but unfortunately I'm bi-polar so it wasn't enough to keep me "level"... I've since stopped taking, but noticed no withdrawals from the drug......
639385 tn?1266214505 I have been on 120mg for several years, and I am now out of work with pain/Fibromyalgia and depression that just won't lift. I was reduced from 120mg to 90mg to try and slowly get me off of the Cymbalta. Within a few days, it threw me into an uncontrollable crying mess. Put back on the 120mg but still feel like crapp.
Avatar f tn A blast of cold air really makes the pain untolerable and I don't want to be popping 7 tylenols a day for the next few months. I'm also taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg for depression, Klonopin 1mg as needed for anxiety, and recently my doctor added Aderrall 10mg/day to help with my ADD-PI. What's so different about Cymbalta then other SNRI's? Is it the serotonine that helps with pain? Please advise, Thank you!!
233622 tn?1279338505 I am having awful sensory issues in my right foot and leg. He said Cymbalta works better for pain than depression. I am already on Lexapro and it seems to be working ok. At least my MS is holding steady at the moment!
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it. All in all, it's well worth the unpleasant side effects for me.
Avatar f tn doctor to go over how bad my depression is. Most my depression I know stems from being extremely active and now 9 months later dealing w/ a terrible back/neck injury and pain and I can't be physical. My motivation is 0!! I go to all my PT appts and Chiropractor, etc. It feels hopeless....It may seem stupid, but ski season is coming up and now I was thinking this will be the first time in 15 yrs. I prob. won't be going. I just want to stand for 20 min. w/o pain in my upper back/neck.
7684852 tn?1437175492 It is so true that if we put down the drugs but don't do any recovery work to change, then nothing changes. I am worried for you and really want you to invest in you and your NEW LIFE. You are so worth it. Please please consider this.
1717715 tn?1318300895 I have been on cymbalta for 2 years now and since being on it I only have mild panic attacks. I am also on it for anxiety and panic.
Avatar f tn Presently taking 60mg Cymbalta, for chronic lower back pain. Helping somewhat, for the pain, but not for the depression, or anxiety.Does anyone know, can an SSRI, be added,as a med for the depression/anxiety?
