Avatar n tn Psoriasis is considered a long-term (chronic) skin condition. It has a variable course with periodic ups and downs. Sometimes psoriasis may clear for years and stay in remission. Some people have worsening of their symptoms in the colder winter months. Many people report improvement in warmer months, climates, or with increased sunlight exposure. The exact cause is not known. It maybe due to a combination of factors, including genetic predisposition and environmental factors.

663470 tn?1243207890 I did the light therapy for a few months but it was painful and left dark spots that are still here years later. I took Humira for 7 months and my psoriasis was totally gone from everywhere! (except for the flexure). Well it doesn't work for me anymore so I am going to try something else. All I'm trying to say is get on top of it! Don't let it spread and get out of hand because it will be harder to control. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm new to this site but not new to psoriasis. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. I've had psoriasis on the palms of my hands and ONLY the palms of my hands for over 10 years. I face the typical thick, cracked, bleeding skin. Seen many dermatologists and have used many, many topicals AND the X-Trac laser treatment but nothing works.

900952 tn?1262692177 Hi, my husband has terrible Psoriasis on probably about 40% of his body, mostly on the bony areas that rub on clothing/hats etc. It runs in his family with his mother and all of his siblings experiencing periodic outbreaks of varying severity. He's tried a lot of steroid ointments and lotions that only work for a short time. He's tried non-soap body washes, shampoos and moisturisers.
766574 tn?1238465473 does anyone know about any new medicine for psoriasis?beside dovonex, enbrel, humira.?
Avatar n tn I was given an immunosurpressant called cyclosporine which helped keep the psoriasis like rashes away but I had persistent red bumps which didnt itch, but would spike in pain under stress/ excessive activities like carrying a lot of heavy things. Cyclosporine was never seen as a permanent treatment and my doctors wanted to wean off. About 6 months since beginning cyclosporine my condition changed to be much more needle pain than rash, and i stopped getting psoriasis like rashes altogether.

The medication is terribly expensive 1k per shot!! I do not know what I will do if I do not have insurance!! I have been using Melaluca products since 2006 and love them they have laundry supplies, cleaning, and personal care. There renew lotion is the best I have used! It keeps you mosturised without the greasy feel and it lasts most of the day!
Avatar f tn I have had psoriasis for years. I have used every lotion and potion invented. Until the last 6 months I thought I was under control. Since that time it has become horribly painful and is covering a greater part of my body. My derm told me to find a specialist. My podiatrist told me to find a dermatology pathologist. I live in south Florida and have not been successful in locating one. Anyone have any ideas.
Avatar n tn I have known I have had psoriasis for 12 years. Over the last 4 year the itching as well as the skin breakouts have gotten worse. I have been to see my dermatologist 2 times a week for the last 3 years. I have asked for something to releave the itching and the doctor gives me creams and drugs that make me sleepy and the creams do no releave the itching either.
Avatar m tn and the vet will probably prescribe cyclosporine drops to help the eye produce more tears. Before you use the cyclosporine drops, be aware that they will sting your dogs eyes, and long term use may contribute to kidney disease...talk this over with your vet. Since your dog is 12 years old, please have annual bloodwork done on him to assess liver and kidney functions...bloodwork should be done on all senior dogs. Best Wishes for you and your dog.....
Avatar f tn Yes I took Cyclosporine for my aquagenic urticaria, it helped so much but not enough to have a normal life :S but maybe for you its going to be different...
Avatar f tn Hi, I would like to know why you started taking cyclosporine when it is not the first drug that should be taken for collagenous colitis. Simple antidiarrheals like loperamide or diphenoxylate are to be taken initially for control of symptoms. If there is no response then other medications like mesalamine, budesonide, immunosuppressants may be tried.

Avatar m tn Could taking less ursodiol have contributed to my diminishing symptoms. What would be the lest acceptable through cyclosporine level for a patient on mono -therapy four and one half years post transplant with no episodes of rejection? Thank you so very much Dr.
Avatar m tn I know that you said that your dog has been on cyclosporine in the past for the treatment of KCS, however has she ever used a product called 'Optimmune"? It's a preparation that contains cyclosporine but it's different from the cyclosporine drops. When eyedrop preparations to treat KCS are made up, they have stabilizers put in so that they don't lose their potency too quickly before the whole preparation can be used.
Avatar n tn to them, so I took him to the vet, afraid he had a sudden case of SARDS. She said no, tested him for dry eye and gave me Cyclosporine drops. I have an appointment with an opthmologist who comes to our town once a month on April 2, but now he seems totally blind. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there any hope for his eyesight? Surgery?? Thanks to anyone who can respond!
1732853 tn?1366758928 I'm on Cyclosporine following my liver transplant a year ago. What did you want to know about it?
Avatar m tn Close to five years post liver transplant. No rejections, cyclosporine mono -therapy .Also take 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for bile duct stricture. Vascular hyper-tensions are becoming a real concern. ie heart, palpitations . fluid in ears , vision problems that aren't related to my actual eyes, the opthamologist confirmed, Migraines that have actually gotten better lately. kidney function is still adequate. My liver is doing very good especially with hep-c..
