Avatar n tn to them, so I took him to the vet, afraid he had a sudden case of SARDS. She said no, tested him for dry eye and gave me Cyclosporine drops. I have an appointment with an opthmologist who comes to our town once a month on April 2, but now he seems totally blind. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there any hope for his eyesight? Surgery?? Thanks to anyone who can respond!
Avatar n tn Having started the TB medication for a week we now wish to continue her treatment for UVEITIS . As I came to know that Steroid is the only option for treating Uveitis I am afraid of both (TB and Uveitis) the medicines that will add extra weights in her body. Any solution to that? Or any expert comment to help me.
Avatar m tn and the vet will probably prescribe cyclosporine drops to help the eye produce more tears. Before you use the cyclosporine drops, be aware that they will sting your dogs eyes, and long term use may contribute to kidney disease...talk this over with your vet. Since your dog is 12 years old, please have annual bloodwork done on him to assess liver and kidney functions...bloodwork should be done on all senior dogs. Best Wishes for you and your dog.....
Avatar f tn Yes I took Cyclosporine for my aquagenic urticaria, it helped so much but not enough to have a normal life :S but maybe for you its going to be different...
Avatar f tn Hi, I would like to know why you started taking cyclosporine when it is not the first drug that should be taken for collagenous colitis. Simple antidiarrheals like loperamide or diphenoxylate are to be taken initially for control of symptoms. If there is no response then other medications like mesalamine, budesonide, immunosuppressants may be tried.
Avatar n tn Like heart disease, uveitis ranges from a single episode that is easily controled and never comes back to relentless progression to blindness. And everything in between. The treatment of uveitis has improved dramatically in the last 2 decades. All the patient's with uveitis that I've managed have done well with IOL surgery. Anyone having cataract surgery should not expect perfect vision because other parts of the eye are usually affected by disease or age.
Avatar m tn Could taking less ursodiol have contributed to my diminishing symptoms. What would be the lest acceptable through cyclosporine level for a patient on mono -therapy four and one half years post transplant with no episodes of rejection? Thank you so very much Dr.
Avatar m tn I know that you said that your dog has been on cyclosporine in the past for the treatment of KCS, however has she ever used a product called 'Optimmune"? It's a preparation that contains cyclosporine but it's different from the cyclosporine drops. When eyedrop preparations to treat KCS are made up, they have stabilizers put in so that they don't lose their potency too quickly before the whole preparation can be used.
Avatar m tn actually be experienced by pwMS, if it is caused specifically by MS is difficult to pin down, the uveitis stats are quite small when they are looking at a possible connection for uveitis as a sx of MS. To explain what i'm trying to say, one example of the disparity would be the larger number of dx uveitis patients in a study and the MSers are commonly in the minoriety eg 1267 uveitis patents and only 41 dx MSers. Which is just over a 3% sample base and means the other 96.
1732853 tn?1366758928 I'm on Cyclosporine following my liver transplant a year ago. What did you want to know about it?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response. I was told that both uveitis and shingles can be brought on by stress in the body. I was hoping that if there were diseases that could cause both I might be able to narrow the list as I don't seem to be getting a lot of assistance on this end. I will definitely look for a uveitis specialist - thank you!!
1233210 tn?1267684288 The most widely used classification of uveitis is the one devised by the International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG) in 1987, based on the anatomical location of the inflammation. This classification includes anterior uveitis (iritis, iridocyclitis, and anterior cyclitis), intermediate uveitis (para planitis, posterior cyclitis, and hyalitis), and posterior uveitis (focal, multifocal, or diffuse choroiditis, chorioretinitis, retinitis, and neuroretinitis).
Avatar n tn I've had uveitis for three years, treated with cortisone drops, pred forte drops, dilating drops and a cortisone shot in left eye. Lost most of vision in that eye because optic nerve was mostly destroyed. I did research on websites, and saw that uveitis is an auto immune disease and saw a rheumatologist who prescribed Methotrexate. Uveitis went into remission immediately, and I haven't had a recurrence in 2 years!
Avatar m tn Close to five years post liver transplant. No rejections, cyclosporine mono -therapy .Also take 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for bile duct stricture. Vascular hyper-tensions are becoming a real concern. ie heart, palpitations . fluid in ears , vision problems that aren't related to my actual eyes, the opthamologist confirmed, Migraines that have actually gotten better lately. kidney function is still adequate. My liver is doing very good especially with hep-c..
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Avatar f tn Based on retrospective studies with cohorts of n ≥ 1,000 patients, we estimate that the prevalence of MS among patients with uveitis is ∼1%, and the prevalence of uveitis among patients with MS is ∼1%, which in both cases is considerably higher than in the general population according to studies on prevalence in western countries. Results from larger studies are to be assumed as the closest to a true estimate.
Avatar f tn That many episodes of iritis indicate almost assuredly an underlying ocular or systemic disease. the most common cause of recurrent acute anterior iritis his HLA-B27 antigen positive. You should ask your ophthalmologist if you were tested for this and if not it needs to be drawn. I would suggest you ask your ophthalmologist for a referral to a "uveitis specialist" most large cities and university ophthalmology departments have one.
Avatar f tn I have had uveitis (inflamtion in both eyes ) for 3 yrs now been living on predasone drops and ive had blood test to run out different diease's and to this day no one seem's to know what is causing this. it all started after i went to chiroprator and he poped my neck and 5 mins my eye's went red and was in ER with inflamtion in eye . can having your neck poped cause this . my left eye is now having blurry vision . will this ever go away?
Avatar f tn Hi ! Wow... I had no idea that cyclosporine has been prescribed for various autoimmune diseases and even allergies ! I think it is a shame that many of these wonderful drugs (steriods... Valcyte.... cyclosporine) are immunosuppressants and can have terrible side effects. I'm happy to hear that researchers are working hard to find cures for these conditions and that they are concerned about the rising numbers of people who have these autoimmune problems.
Avatar n tn if he said my eyes were perfect with no problems did he look for diseases like that? he would have noticed if something was wrong like uveitis right?? he said my eyes looked just how a 27 year olds eyes should look. he wouldnt have missed it right? just alittle worried.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Uveitis and my vision is getting progressively worse. I have used 8 different drops (I am what they call steriod resistent), have had four injections into my eye and surgery to remove fluid and floaters. I have been tested by a rheumatologist, have had an MRI and Catscan. Nothing shows up on any tests other than a meningioma 10 centimeters on the right side. My question is, can you suggest any other avenue of treatment for me.
Avatar f tn Hi have been using Durezol for my uveitis every hour for the first week. my vision got blurred.
Avatar f tn s is everything on the list for uveitis except for red eye. I have been checked for ON with negative results on exam, VEP, and MRI. I have an appt with an opthamologist next Friday (again), but I was just curious if I had that uveitis thing would my eye be obviously red and inflamed?
