Common Questions and Answers about Crestor blood sugar

crestor

Avatar n tn I did some research on crestor after I posted my first question and saw that there have been lots of issues with Crestor raising blood sugars in type 2 diabetics. The Crestor site even says that this can happen. If you google Crestor raising blood sugars there are many websites that come up. I am not disputing the fact that diabetes is progressive, but it is just so odd that days after starting these meds my blood sugars started getting out of wack.
Avatar f tn You should not take red rice yeast with Crestor. Some natural ways to treat high blood pressure are to increase aerobic exercise, limit salt intake to 2,400 mg, trying to eat at least 3,500 mg of potassium a day, from foods such as yogurt, cantaloupe, spinach, and bananas, limit alcohol consumption, and even trying some forms of meditation. Some supplements that may help with blood sugar are GTF chromium, magnesium, Alpha-lipoic acid, and Coenzyme Q10.
Avatar n tn Could my shortness of breath. weakness and aching be cause by Crestor? I have seen a pulmonary doctor and a cardiologist. They say my heart and lungs are fine.

Avatar m tn Also I take one grapefruit everyday and generally avoid rice, instead I take chappathi. My fasting blood sugar in the morning is between 110 and 140. Are my problems related to diabetes ?
Avatar f tn The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.
1806721 tn?1554333407 My questipn, however, is about whether statin drugs will raise blood sugar, causing pre-diabetes or diabetes? My paternal grandma has type 1 and my maternal uncle has type 2 diabetes. In the past 6 months, besides rapid weight loss, I also experienced fatigue, weakness, cold feet, dizziness, sudden drop of blood pressure, increased thirst and trips to restroom, low grade fever on and off with left side abdominal pain.
Avatar n tn Pulse pressure is the difference in blood pressure between the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure. Pulse pressure in healthy adults in a sitting position is about 40 mmHg. Your have a wide pulse pressure of 93mmHg.
Avatar f tn Hello I have been taking generic Crestor for about two years. It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?
Avatar n tn My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.
Avatar n tn Spinal Stenosis in the lower lumbar area. As well, he had been taken Crestor and diagnosed with Statin myopathy 1 year ago as a result of very high CK levels. He was taken off the Crestor immediately .. put on another drug which is not a statin. One year has passed and he still has high CK levels and very severe and weak legs. He tries to exercise but can't do it for long. Calf muscles jump all the time and are tender. He can't walk around the block.
Avatar n tn s cholesterol level is one factor in a total clinical picture that includes such factors as family history of heart disease, weight, waist measurement, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, EKG, and physical exam, including listening to the heart. All of the above factors could be within clinical guidelines and he, or anyone, could still suffer a sudden cardiac arrest resulting in death.
Avatar f tn Vitd25oh at 100ng/ml is able to correct cholesterol and high blood sugar so after 6-12months of stable levels at about100ng/ml you may try stop sgatins and see if chol stays normal i also suggest to reduce all dairies products which are all extreemly unhealthy except consuming low quantity of raw organic dairies where animals are not fed industrial foods or treated by drugs.
Avatar f tn hi! My Dr put me on Crestor, 40 mg once a day for high cholesterol and coronary plaque buildup..... Today is my 4th day taking it. Ive seen the commercials...and Ive researched online...It seems ok...Ive tolerated Lipitor in the past with absolutly NO side effects. I just noticed today that i seem to be sore...in my shoulder and neck.... as when I would shrug my shoulders...the muscles there seem sore when I do that. Now, maybe I did something...? Sat the wrong way, slept the wrong way...
Avatar n tn Is this safe to take with the medications I am currently taking? Also, when is the best time to take it. I test my blood sugar every morning (fasting) and before bed.
Avatar n tn Yes, all were prescribed from the same doctor - I called and he's out of the office this week. I skipped my PM dose of Zestril last night and so far, my headache is mostly gone. Still having the hot flashes. I wonder if one of them affecting my blood sugar. I've never been diagnosed as having any sugar problems.
Avatar n tn Long time ago, cardiologist said no need to change when another MD suggested. (I think Crestor has big marketing push). Is there any advantage to Crestor given my figures?
Avatar n tn It's not skin, my stomach is hard. I go get checkups on a regular basis, my blood pressure is down and my sugar is down, but they won't take me off my meds. Thank you for your comments.
Avatar n tn Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc. After statin therapy fails or is not tolerated, it is normal to try ezetimibe (Zetia), which you said did not work. The use of colesevelam (WelChol) is not high, and is often the 'last ditch effort' to lower cholesterol.
Avatar f tn Thanks to all that posted. I am a 55 year old female who also has had blood vessels pop in my hands without any injury. The bruises were preceded by pain that felt let my hand was hit by a hammer. About ten years ago I went to an armload of specialists (vascular, cardiology, rheumatology, orthopedist, internal medicine, emergency medicine) none of whom ever heard of this problem, but pronounced me in otherwise excellent health.
Avatar f tn i now walk a mile a day, stayed the same weight for 2 1/2 years, now am starting to loose - took me 3 months but am losing 2lbs a month, take coreg, bumex, all the heart meds. blood pressure is usually 106/68, so it's low. diabetic and have started menopause. my question is this: i had the nuclear stress test done on the treadmill this week. i made 85%, was winded but not out of breath, manage to run/walk like they wanted. i have iscemia from the heart attack.
Avatar f tn cholesterol 233 and LDL 166. They are putting me on Crestor for cholesterol. My concern is the thyroid levels. I just get so tired and put on so much weight when the levels are off. Anyone have any suggestions?
