coughing in your sleep

I've been coughing every night for about a week now and it's causing me to lose sleep and puke. DoCtor said it's allergies but it's ONLY when I laydown. What can I do oor take?

I've noticed as I lay down to sleep at night (as a stomach/side sleeper) that over the last few month it has become increasingly more and more painful to lay on my right side rib area or on my stomach. I was given an inhaler and Tylenol with codeine just for at night to help me sleep. I also suggest a good humidifier one that you can see the "steam" basically make yourself a tent, drink lots of water, and get the vicks handheld breather thing (sorry drawing a blank of actual name....) you put vicks pads in it and breath it in and nd it helps calm coughs and non will help open sinuses. I've had bronchitis 3 times this pregnancy.

I finally get one back 2 sleep after giving breathing treatment for uncontrollable coughing....now the other wont stop kicking me..... I have knees in my belly and knees in my back..... Is this what i have to look forward to as a single parent of 2?????? If so im going to have lots of sleepless nights :-( but on the other hand wouldnt change my boys for a world full of sleep.

She has had a cough that has lasts since august 1 and has been in and out of doctors and still cant find out whats the matter with her? She coughs at any time of the day and its followed with her throwing up. Thay have tested her for acid refux, astma, had a cat scan, and xrays of her lungs. Still nothing they keep putting her on alot of meds, and nothing has worked. Neither of them are getting any sleep because she is up all night. Its even affecting her at school.

BUT it is more than likely coz I have been ill all week with a lung being removed by me coughing it up all the day and night. Tons of calories go into coughing...you all should try it! I hope I don't put back on the 3.5 kgs I lost!

Hello, this concerns my life partner (58 years old, male). I've been concerned for a while now. He, quite regularly, gets very bad coughing fits while he sleeps. He snores badly and to me it sounds like he's "forgetting" to swallow his saliva and after some has build up in his mouth he starts choking a little and goes into a very bad coughing fit. He's even thrown up twice because of the violent nature of those coughs.

Rub on your chest and breath or in a paper towel hold over your mouth and breath. It really stops that dry scratchy cough.

at that time,one day i sprayed baygon spray(for killing bugs and moquitoes) in my room ,and then i had to sleep in that room.since then my problem increased.there was some smell of spray. i am doing this for 1 and half years.now i cant cough and hawk anymore.pls help. ..

Your best bet is to call the doctor and ask what they recommend. They might have some medicine you can use. I was feeling really crappy today and called the doctor and she actually had me go into the hospital for an IV drip because i was extremely dehydrated.
