212161 tn?1599427282 is tere other test tan colonscopy.
Avatar f tn The colonoscopy might show something, but it probably won't. However a colonoscopy is a good idea to make sure nothing more serious is going on. Have you tried making dietary and lifestyle changes?
Avatar n tn She took both the IGG and IGM tests and both were positive. I also took both tests and was negative. My questions are, how accurate is the IGM test to determine when she came in contact with the herpes 2? Also can you contract herpes 2 from a Colonoscopy? This discussion is related to Blood Test Accuracy.
7282682 tn?1397237735 I have a colonoscopy next week. The stuff they put you out with isnt an opiate is it? I don't want to do anything that jeopardizes my recovery.
1478992 tn?1287429445 I recently had some tests that indicate that I may have need for a colonoscopy. However, I am well aware of the dangers of this test and the fact that it has only a 40% accuracy rate what other tests are there that have a better results factor and possibly less chance of adverse side effects. My CEA test that came back 9.3 ng/ml and that combined with a Low Lymphocyte count of 12% and MCH 26.1, MCHC 31.
Avatar m tn t had a regular BM for a year. I have had every blood test and stool test under the sun, as well as a abdominal CT scan, abdominal ultraound ( liver and GB fine) colonoscopy, and endoscopy. My question is, how frequently do colonoscopies miss something? I'm scared I might have a tumor. It was done by a gastroenterologist in Minneapolis. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks!!!
568565 tn?1216785185 it is a take home test that you can do yourself in the privacy of your own home.It will test for hidden blood in your stool. There are many conditions that can cause blood detections, such as GI problems and bleeding hemorrhoids. However, blood in the stool can occur from a polyp or early stage cancer.Colonrectal cancer usually begins with a benign polp that may be detected with this in home test, and can be removed as part of a follow-up colonoscopy.Hope this helps you.....
Avatar n tn I recently underwent my first baseline colonoscopy. I was lightly sedated, but apparently I was a bit resistant to the scope entering any further than the first few inches of my rectum. It was reported that this was sufficient to determine all was well and it was also recommended I come back again in approximately five years. Do I just need to have more sedation next time or could I have a stenosis that caused me to subconsciously be resistive and uncomfortable. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Having my third colonscopy. I had one eight years ago and I cannot remember feeling so nervous. I had a polyp the first time and it was benign. The second colonoscopy was fine. I'm having a difficult time with feeling hungry and waiting to take the prep this afternoon. I've already started having diaherra because of my nerves. Guess I need to unload and find support on here. Looking forward to hearing from anyone.
Avatar m tn Otherwise, no health concerns. I just had my annual job physical and the doc said that I had a positive hemocult test, but she though that this could be hemmorhoids. I work in a university-affiliated hospital, so getting any tests is easy. The doc doing my physical recommended a colonoscopy; which I scheduled but when they found out that I had a bad (really bad) reaction to Versed during dental surgery they had me reschedule with a CRNA for diprivan instead of Versed.
212161 tn?1599427282 how many have had a colonoscopy and was it bad, the prep i ok with the putting to sleep i not like
Avatar f tn i had a colonoscopy the other day. the dr went around the first 'bend', but couldn't push thru any further. he said that he didn't want to push any further because he didn't want to 'tear' anything. he was being very vague about why it was blocked. i am not having any pain and my BMs are normal. i thought there was a scope on the end of these things so you can see what you are looking at. why couldn't he tell me what the blockage was?
Avatar m tn I just want to ask that does a colonoscopy reach as far as the mid ileum, or would another test be done to go that further down?
212161 tn?1599427282 You're through the worst part!! When you get to your appt. you'll go to sleep and wake up when it's all over with. It's the easiest test to endure...really. I was very nervous with my first one and afterwards I felt silly because it was all over so quickly! Colonoscopies are so common and the docs and anesthesiologists very good at what they do, so try not to worry...you'll do just fine!
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! First off, did you tell the doctor or the nurse during the test that you were in pain. If yes, then you shouldn't trust this particular doctor. If no, then they had no way to know something was wrong. You will never forget this experience but you can move past it maybe by talking to a therapist. Please don't lose trust in this test, this test could have saved your life.
Avatar n tn A routine health examination gave a positive FOB test (twice). I have no history of parents with cancer (both 78) and have never suffered from any gastric disorders. My motions are morning/regular and soft. The result was a complete surprise and all other tests (blood/urine) etc were totally normal. I have had one large external pile for 8 years since delivering my children, but have never experienced any discomfort/bleeding.
Avatar m tn Yes, CT colonoscopy can detect crohns related abnormalities though the test may have a few disadvantages over conventional colonoscopy such as visualisation not being as clear or inability to take biopsy samples. On the other hand, the procedure is much more comfortable than conventional colonoscopy at the patients end.
Avatar f tn I wind up eating the day before the colonoscopy so I couldn’t get the test done. Plus I was nervous about the test and don’t really want to do it anyway. The main symptom that is bothering the most is the itching anus. I can be walking down the street and it start itching. I also sometimes have stomach pain too. My parents were shocked that the doctor asked me to do a colonoscopy at my age.
1858622 tn?1319813203 I took Suprep for a colonoscopy today and the doc said I was "cloudy" but he did not find anythng. Now he wants me to have a blood test and have a follow up. I've never had a cloudy result; some folks say they had the same thing. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn When I went to the emergency room they gave me a stool sample and it was negative I really don’t want this colonoscopy test cause of the reasons I mentioned and plus I think it’s hemms. The test is this Friday. Should I reschedule? Should I do this test?
Avatar f tn I had a colonoscopy in 2004 due to mucus in my stool, nothing was found in the colonoscopy and I was diagnosed with IBS. I have recently had a flare up and the six performed a stool test and blood test, both clear. Since then my bowel seems to be comming back to normal but when I have a harder than normal stool I get some mucus when I wipe ( can't see any on stool or on bowl). Is it normal for a small amount of mucus to be present after a hard stool passing?
Avatar f tn my doctor wishes that i get a colonoscopy but i suffer from extreme anxiety and am so terrified of this procedure that i cant even find the appropriate words to describe my fear. i was wondering if for this it would be best for me to go under general anesthesia and not be conscious throughout this procedure as the thought of that calms my axieties?
Avatar m tn I worried about getting a colonoscopy (easy) and the sedation (very easy); yes the prep is a little annoying, but the test is a breeze. As stated above, never assume that bleeding is benign. I was bleeding and my first doc told me to forget it an take metamucil; not satisfied with this answer, I self-referred to a gastro doc and she immediately scheduled me for a colonoscopy. The test was easy, the risk is very low and the diagnostic yield is very high.
Avatar f tn I'm 75 yrs. old. Had a colonoscopy in 2006. 'Impression was diverticula of colon' ' .However, in part, the report said,"due to malfunction of the scope, photos of the cecum were not obtained." I am now worried that because of the scope malfunction, could nothing be seen on the monitor and the test should have been done again?
Avatar n tn on a Wed. i had my first colonoscopy. they diagnosed diverticulitis (previous to test i had some symptoms, but test was a regularly scheduled cancer screening). no treatment was proscibed. within three days i was in the hospital for a week, CT scan showed a colon abscess, i dodged emergency surgery and responded to IV antibiotics. now i'm two months out of the hospital and a GI and surgical followup recommends bowel resection. i've read that the bowel does not repair itself.
Avatar m tn I was scheduled for a Colonoscopy on 07/21/2009 at 8:30am. I had told the doctors nurse the day before that I didn't want anesthesia, the last two Colonoscopies I've had I took no drugs. Anesthesia doesn't sit well with me and messes me up for days. I know the Colonoscopy is a bit painful without the drugs but doable never the less.
