I have all four wisdom teeth and have never had a problem, there was enough room for them all to come in without bothering any other teeth. On the top two, they are both broken in half. Until now, neither has given me any problem. My husbands work insurance is coming in in a month so I will be getting my teeth taken care of but until then I have a problem. On my left upper side, it was excrutiatingly painful, the gum around the tooth was swelling, there was pus/blood, and excess saliva.
I have had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and my tongue remained numb for one month.
I am a Dental Nurse and know that wisdom tooth removal can cause temporary or permenant numbness of the tongue due to damage to the lingual nerve.
If you are concerned, I would recommend going back to see you Dentist.
I got my wisdom teeth out exactly 3 weeks ago. I was told it was a normal procedure but after 3 days had increasing pain and was told I had a dry socket. I have now had it packed 5 times, not once has the packing eased the pain. I have been taking amoxicillyn for the last week in case of infection and it has done nothing. I have not been smoking and have tried to be careful eating. I’m overseas in a place with no English speaking dentists and don’t know what to do.
A doctor a year ago performed endodontic surgery in my lower jaw and removed infected tissue and bone in my lower four teeth. But infection again developed resulting in Jaw bone infection. I want to ask whether one year infection in bone can be cured with medicine and is clindamycin best for it or there is surgery required to remove the dead and infected bone. I will be thankful if any one guide me and God will help you in the time of need.

Another bit of information is I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled out later this month not sure if this is the root of all the problems (dentist and ENT said no). What should I do next? CT scan? Endoscopy? (Had severe heartburn first time in my life with stomach burning dr put me famotidine for 2 weeks went away, sometimes still get minor burning sensation rarely) Biopsy?
on april 19 I had I got two wisdom tooth pulled at the top on my left side i had a extra tooth on the side. i am worry that the blood clot came out. i am having pain right now. Which i know it's going to take time for the pain to go away. And i have to remember that i had two teeth pulled by each other. I don't have a lot of blood. It's only a little on the quaze. The quaze make me gag i feel like throwing up. I am really not bleeding that much.
I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed on Monday with IV sedation. I was given 800mg ibuprofen every 6 hours, vicodin 5-325 every 4 hours. On day 3 I was in excruciating pain with huge hard lumps on the sides of my face that hurt so I went back to the dentist and he prescribed me x2 150mg of Clindamycin every 6 hours. I weigh around 150 lbs, 22 year old female, 5'3.
I got all four wisdom teeth removed. I was given a prescription of azithromycin and a methylprednisolone pack. I also was informed to rinse my mouth out with warm salt water. On the last day of the antibiotic (day 5) I noticed a weird taste and that same discoloration on my tongue. I'm also taking ortho tri cyclen (birth control) and I have been on it for almost 7 years.
I have about half of the nystatin and the probiotics (yogurt) left. I'm currently taking these again.
I got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled out the 6th of May. They perscribed 800MG of ibuprofen, 5-325 of Vicodin, and 150MG of clindamycin. I've only just stopped taking all these meds today the 12th because I found out just yesterday I had dry socket from the 3 day post sugery so I needed to take away the pain. My period was due the 14th but I got it the 11th yesterday. It started with a little spotting then full on heavy.
My poor husband had his impacted wisdom teeth removed. He has developed a bone infection and now the doctor's office who treated him is backpeddling and saying that he has the "flu." They were the ones' who told him he had the infection to begin with. He is in ALOT of pain, nausea, very tired and overal in pain everywhere. Things were healing up, then while eating a soft cookie, I heard what sounded/felt like a loud crack at my 2nd molar. Since then, lots of pain and problems. The following are the major symptoms, I just want to know if this would be typical for a fractured root.
This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath. He cultured the surgical sites for bacteria, and found:
- Streptococcus Viridans
- Bacteroides Gracilis
- Haemophilus Influenzae
- Hameophilus Parainfluenzae
- Neisseria species
Which of the bacteria above are not susceptible to Augmentin? I'm trying to figure out with my doctors what antibiotics to take to fight this infection.
I am a 41 year old women in resonably good health. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed in November and have experienced SEVERE pain since. I did have an infection 4 weeks into postop. Two weeks later I had a bone scan, cat scan and blood work. All came back normal. BUT I am still in severe pain, worst of my life. He says the sight looks good but if I am still in pain in 2 weeks he will do a biopsy. Any advice.

Started with Left sore throat, then Gum Pain & hard white painful bump near #17 wisdom tooth. Got severe, hard to swallow, chew, painful. My reg. Dentist Rx'd Amoxicillin - took 6 days to start working. After swelling went down,did x-ray, he could not find any problem -tooth not abcessed.
I am still in limbo. I am back on Clindamycin and had two wisdom teeth extracted to see if they may have been causing an infection. Probably was not the most intelligent thing to do right now, but I did it. Jkarenk, have you have a bone scan? Not a dexa scan but a bone scan. You may need to find out whether this could be osteonecrosis or osteomyelitis. Neither are good and are difficult to treat and diagnose if no one is working with you.
I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

I recently went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned and have some minor fillings touched up. Since this visit; a neighboring tooth that has had a root canal and a crown . I have clindamycin 300 mg, can I safely double up todays med intake. To be painfree for Christmas plans tomorrow??
On 3/21 and got my (lower right)wisdom tooth removed. I followed the instructions that the dentist gave me and took the appropriate perscriptions and pain killers etc. I went back to the dentist on 3/27 to get my stitches removed only to find that my stitches were gone already. (I don't think that they were the kind that dissolves)This did not seem to alarm my dentist at all.
Do wisdom teeth effect the inner ear?
Hi, I am a 23 year old male, approximately 170 lbs. I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.
I'm 16 and a half and my second wisdom teeth are just about to break through, every night I'm waking up in agony with the pain from one side of my mouth. I've tried taking ibuprofen and paracetamol and also using bonjela at the same time, but I'm still in so much pain, what can I do? My exams are soon and I don't want the pain to affect them!
I had my wisdom teeth pulled over the summer. I was not pregnant but I couldnt imagine not having ibuprofen afterwards. I cant handle vicodin so I lived on ibuprofen. It was very painful for weeks afterwards, the bottoms were impacted. I would try to wait if u can, recovering will be painful when u cant take meds.
