I previously took Clindamycin which worked great for a few months, but then stopped working. However, that was before the 2 teeth were pulled. I'm wondering if maybe I should try it again in conjunction with the Augmentin, since it may now have a better chance of working since the 2 teeth were pulled and the bone cleaned out.
My oral surgeon would like to try me on clindamycin again, but my infectious disease doctor says the Augmentin should be fighting all of the bacteria.
Any help here is appreciated.
I had my 2 lower Wisdom Teeth removed 30 August. Jaw has been swollen since but is slowly going down. The main problem is I can only open my jaw about 3/4 of an Inch. I have been taking Clindamycin for about a week now and I'm unsure if it's doing any good, I've also been doing the Warm Washrag on the jaw. Is this Normal, how much longer and any other suggestions is greatly appreciated.
I have clindamycin 300 mg, can I safely double up todays med intake. To be painfree for Christmas plans tomorrow??
well, with your two teeth gone i'm sure you're looking for something soft to eat and a GREAT suggestion right now would be yogurt. i perfer dannon active myself. the main reason is that the clindamycin is a very powerful antibiotic (my doctor put me on 450mg of clindamycin) the down side is clindamycin can kill everything in your body. that includes the good bacteria in your intestine called gut flora.
It is somewhat normal for the teeth to be sensitive to touch post root canal therapy. I would hope that the teeth were taken out of occlusion so that you are not biting them when you close your mouth naturally. If that is not the case call the dentist asap.The crowns should be replaced as soon as the teeth are asyptomatic.
Thank you for your help. I am sitting here close to tears because I just called the dentist and he said since the penicillen didn't work, the only other alternative is Clindamycin. I really do not know what to do. I could deal with some discomfort, but my experience with Clindamycin was horrible. I just know if this infection is not cleared up by the 24th, the oral surgeon will not extract these teeth and the misery is just going to go on and on.
I am 32 Years, 3 yrear old I have a Pimple in my face , for clear face i Press it , 2 days after it comes again I have press it again. i repete this from last three year. The affected area of my face give a white smelly liqued.
So now I am on Vancomycin for the Colitis and 2 other medications for the diarrhea....If you look up Clindamycin you will see that it can cause Colitis.
worth a try for sure...don't feel guilty, I don't think a bump on the head would have anything to do with whats going on here...
No don't go to an emergency clinic they wouldn't do anymore than what your Vet is already doing..re tests and meds...he needs a referral from your Vet to see a specialist if there is any in your neck of the woods?
IMO a teeth cleaning isn't going to solve or correct any of what is going on now...
I am in the midst of phase I of a reconstruction of my teeth due to bruxism and/or TMJ. After the 4 hr. appt to prepare my upper teeth for the impressions, my dentist decided to fix a problematic tooth not specified in the phase I project. He found I needed a root canal, which he did. During the procedure, he said my "devital" tooth had abscessed and he worked on that.
I had a molar that got super infected my dentist pulled the tooth. Now my whole side of my head is killing me. I can taste infection coming out every now and then. My cheek is the size of a golf ball. My ear, lymph note is killing me as well. My jaw won't open all the way either. My gums and teeth around the extraction area are hurting as well. What should I do??? I'm taking Clindamycin 300mg 4 times a day.
I want to ask whether one year infection in bone can be cured with medicine and is clindamycin best for it or there is surgery required to remove the dead and infected bone. I will be thankful if any one guide me and God will help you in the time of need.

I got my wisdom teeth out exactly 3 weeks ago. I was told it was a normal procedure but after 3 days had increasing pain and was told I had a dry socket. I have now had it packed 5 times, not once has the packing eased the pain. I have been taking amoxicillyn for the last week in case of infection and it has done nothing. I have not been smoking and have tried to be careful eating. I’m overseas in a place with no English speaking dentists and don’t know what to do.
Dr just came in and said well...you probably need a root canal and gave me and RX for vicodin and Clindamycin. Pain did get better over the weekend however now the lower teeth, are hurting as well as my lower jaw. Tylenol and Ibuprofen help but pain is still there when it wears off. Could the crowned tooth be higher than the other teeth causing it to put more pressure on the ones below?
I too have thick white saliva, but without yellow. I also have dry mouth. I've been in and out of hospitals and rehabs a lot in the last 5 years, because of the discovery of a Factor 5 Leiden blood disorder which caused numerous strokes. At the time I was prescribed Coumadin. The only reason I'm speaking about this other illness is because I believe that after one of those stays, possibly the last stay, I started having very dry mouth and the white saliva.
You shouldn't treat yourself as it may be the wrong treatment. There are complications you can get from clindamycin also and it is not a good choice. If you have a viral infection you won't need antibiotics. If you had strep throat you wouldn't have an ear infection usually. It can happen but isn't usually the way it presents. Do you have a high fever? Pus in the throat, or rash?
00 p.m. since he is only at the dental office where I go every other Tuesday and has no cancellations. I am still in a lot of pain and will see my dentist for my three month cleaning on Wednesday of this coming week. My questions is: My dentist has another office - in a neighboring town and I am going to ask him if I can see the Periodontist there since this pain is so awful. Should I do that since Tylenol only dulls the pain and I cannot take anything else.
through the bone and through or around the gum tissue from the abcess to the outside (in the mouth somewhere like the palate for upper teeth or the soft tissue vestibule by the roots of the teeth). it's basically a tract through which the abcess can drain. teeth with tracts usually have been abcessed for quite some time.
I am currently in th eprocess of getting 24 crowns done (8 top, 16 bottom) as a part of a mouth reconstruction. Partly for cosmetic reasons but mainly because my teeth were very worn down and somewhat crooked and stained.
Anyway, I had the first top 8 done sept 4th and I was in terrible pain afterwards for about 2 weeks before it settled down.
I had the bottom left 8 done Oct 1st and now nearly 4 weeks later, I am still in constant pain.
I recommend a teaching university in Canada specializing in maxillofacial treatment. Have you been on Clindamycin for bone infections yet? Clindamycin is also known as Cleocin. Not sure what it is called in Canada. Caution regarding Clindamycin as it can cause C-difficile. Please read up on it before acquiring a script. Again, this is strictly my opinion as I am not in the medical field.
on april 19 I had I got two wisdom tooth pulled at the top on my left side i had a extra tooth on the side. i am worry that the blood clot came out. i am having pain right now. Which i know it's going to take time for the pain to go away. And i have to remember that i had two teeth pulled by each other. I don't have a lot of blood. It's only a little on the quaze. The quaze make me gag i feel like throwing up. I am really not bleeding that much.
