i am being treated for possible infection of Chlamydia and gonorrhea. I understand its common to treat for both when one is suspected. My problem is that i don't handle antibiotics well. azithromycin is not an option for me. doxycycline is not great either.
So the dr. has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
Chlamydia has never shown resistence to the macrolide antibiotics such as azithromycin nor the tetracylines such as doxycycline. Clindamycin has no effectiveness for treating Chlamydia. Cipro is iffy for both Chlamydia and Enterococcus infections. Ask your Doctor to be sure that the Enterococcus is not a resistent strain , as this is becoming more of a problem, especially here in the US. I hope you are well soon. Take care.
, While the absence of other symptoms is reassuring, we would still recommend screening (that is testing in the absence of symptoms) for chlamydia, gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis at least. This could be done with a urine specimen or a swab.
2. See above about molluscum treatment. Liquid nitrogen is often used unless there is something very unusual about yours.

They calledme bavk Wednesday to tell me that I tested positive for chlamydia. They prescribed me Clindamycin. The dosage is 300mg 4 times a day for 7 days. But I can't take it. It makes me so sick and makes me feel like my throat is swelling closed. Anybody else experienced this? Or know what else I can take? I'm going to call my OB in the morning. But I'm scared they are going to tell me that there is nothing else for me. Ugh.
I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
He said since i had the sore throat then these sores are from that and prescribed me ten days of clindamycin and then diflucan to take away the yeast infection the. Clindamycin has always given me. Whats your opinion on this?
Oh by the way the doc said even thou my hsv1 is genital it can still travel up to my mouth? What do you think?
Between strep antibiotics and for this I’ve been on azithromycin for 5 days, cephalexin for 10 days, clindamycin for 10 days, doxy for 7 days, just started cipro for 10 days. I’ve been on so many antibiotics and if it was bacterial wouldn’t the the utheral tube also be red and the other side of the opening ?

m not sure if the spots on the back of my throat are attributed to mild acid reflux, stress, antibiotics (I was taking Clindamycin vaginally for BV during the week i slept with the guy), or oral gonorrhea, or ARS.
Thank you so much for your response. May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
Hoping that Clindamycin will work...If the Clindamycin does not work...is there another medicine that could do the trick?
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
I am curious about the answer you will receive from the doctor on this forum regarding your question concerning Clindamycin; because, I had been prescribed two rounds of it for a tooth abcess. They were approx. 3 weeks apart. The tooth had since been pulled out a long time ago; but, I developed a sudden increase in PVC's 24/7 during the treatment time with this anitbiotic and have had PVC's since.
Two weeks after I had sexual contact I began having itchiness on my vulva. And then a few days later, I began having purulent discharge it's whit to yellow consistency and there's a lot almost like milk. I went to see an OB GYN for pelvic exam and lab test. I had pelvic pain same when you have period cramps. Inflamed vulva and cervix. The doctor suspected bacterial infection and gave me antibiotics "doxycycline" twice a day for one week and clindamycin once a day for a week.
They prescribed clindamycin (4x/d) and doxycyclin (2x/d) for two weeks. My boyfirend went for check up a week after my operation and got + with chlamydia. but he has no smyptoms and he told me that his last contact was 2 yrs ago.
I was just bothered how come the drs have not hinted its not ovarian cysts but a PID due chlamydia infection?
I am currently on Clindamycin and my heart has been racing! I'm about ready to go to the ER.
We took her to get checkup and they said there was presence of a bacterial infection after they had swabbed her. They tested her for Chlamydia, Trich, Gonnorhea and the herpes simplex viruses her results all came back negative. They gave her doxy and clindamycin which cleared her symptoms. Shortly after I started to experience discharge and pain when urinating. No discolor in semen and no pain with ejaculation.
