Avatar m tn I had a MRSA infection two months ago and was treated by a dermatologist and infectious disease doctor. The major symptoms went away like the boil I got, however I still get mild folliculitis on my face (one or two infected hairs). I've been applying topical clindamycin twice a day and cleaning my sheets and towels regularly but I still get some folliculitis. Is this normal and will it go away eventually?
Avatar n tn I agree on the MRSA. Let your doctor know about them. They can run a test to see if it MRSA or not. It has to be treated with antibiotics. It's also highly contagious.
Avatar n tn I did - this was not only eye problems - inflammation/pain/swelling - which resulted in a growth behind my eye - I aquired MRSA while hospitalized. This has been two weeks... I now have experienced daily bleeding from my rectum in my stools (which are very loose) - the blood is apparent. I am reluctant to go back to the hospital. I need to know what this bleeding is in reference to... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1467965 tn?1288901625 the more traditional healthcare-associated (HA-) MRSA infections, CA-MRSA can be treated with more drugs than HA-MRSA including to sulfa drugs, tetracyclines and clindamycin. CA-MRSA is typically associated with skin and wound infections, In the UK, it is called Golden Staph. We see quite a bit a CA-MRSA in the US in football, lacrosse, soccer and field hockey players and it has been linked to skin abrasions caused by artificial turf.
Avatar f tn Just quit working there a month ago because of this... I have had mrsa for a while now been on antibiotics for 2 months now doxycicline.
Avatar m tn FYI, most impetigo is caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Some by Streptococcus pyogenes (the same strep that causes strep throat). This kind of Staph causes boils, or crusty kinds of infections. If it becomes multi-drug resistant then they call it MRSA. But yours probably isn't MRSA. Where do you have it and is it on a large part of your body? Usually, you can use the triple antibiotic ointment on it and that will take it away.
Avatar f tn I was recently hospitalized for MRSA for a week and then spent another month receiving vancomycin via central line. During my care, they gave me clindamycin and reframpin, both of which caused severe reactions: jaundice, severe upper right quadrant pain, bleeding ulcers, exacerbated asthma, severe weakness, febrile seizures, N/V, and skin reactions. Now my ALT levels are > 90.
Avatar n tn I got my culture back last Thursday afternoon of last week and it came back that MRSA was resistant to Clindamycin. Doxycycline was not so she put me back on Doxycycline and also Rifampin. I developed a rash all around my neck with small pimples that same Thursday. She took a biopsy Monday and I should have the results today. She gave me some creams and prescribed a soap to bathe in that would kill the staph on my skin. I have also been having night sweats for the last two months.
Avatar m tn It looks possible then that you are correct in thinking that the problem is not MRSA, but the MRSA is coincidentally there - where it can normally be without causing any problem. If you have petechiae, then you might expect to see also bleeding from the gums, or else easy bruising anywhere.
441951 tn?1275762988 A MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureous) infection is obviously resistant to Penicillin....so your doctor should have given you something different to get rid of it. Like Bactrim which is a Sulfa drug.....or intravenous meds.
Avatar f tn I have not heard of Primacine for the treatment of MRSA, usually antibiotics such as Clindamycin(oral), Cephalexin(oral), Vancomycin(IV) there’s some other IV antibiotics besides Vanco that can be given Vanco is just the most common with the highest success rate. I must add washing with hot water is good however you can wash with not so hot water and always add liquid bleach. Keep a spray bottle of equal parts bleach/H2O to use on surfaces.
487969 tn?1249313291 I was run through 3 different types of antibiotics. They let me out yesterday with Clindamycin every eight hours by mouth. I am allergic to the med (itching everywhere) so they make me take benedryl to stop that. My Gyn, bless he pour little heart, was heart broken that this happened to me. They opened the wound a tiny bit to let the staph infection ooze. He called in a surgeon to oversee, just to make sure he was on top of everything.
Avatar f tn I get the same exact blistered infected bubble/blister on my index finger atleast 2x a yr and well ive been told its mrsa cellitus abscess and herpetic whitlow......everytime i get this i do not open up the blister but a red streak goes up to my shoulder.i just got another one 3days ago n yesterday went to er because i knew i need iv antibotics to stop red streak...
577106 tn?1219839345 1) Healthcare-associated MRSA (HA-MRSA) infections which occur in people who are or have recently been in the hospital; and 2) Community-associated MRSA (CA-MRSA) infections are ones that occur in otherwise healthy people who have not recently been in the hospital. Diagnosis is usually made through blood, urine or skin culture. For a local skin MRSA infection, draining the skin sore is often the only treatment needed. However.
Avatar m tn Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???
Avatar m tn I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.
Avatar n tn I have also tried topical treatment like Fucidin, Mupirocin, clindamycin and gentamicin. I have tried hot compress on the scalp which gives only temporary relief of symptoms. I am also getting folliculitis of the beard area .Current symptoms include pustules all over the scalp and severe pain of the hair root area (prevents me from putting head on pillow and combing hair) .I have had 1 culture of the pustule done in India which showed that the organism was staphylococcus.
Avatar m tn Alright, here is how my story goes, I've had MRSA twice in the last maybe 2 to 3 months. It wasn't bad enough for hospitalization so i was put on Clindamycin for 10 days both times. As of the last 2 weeks, I've developed what i thought was jock itch. red burning itchy patchy oozing areas on thighs and under testicles. Let me tell you guys, this is hell... ITCHING AND BURNING and the ooze just makes for thinking you pee'd yourself a little....
Avatar f tn Generally, for community acquired pneumonia they do tests in the lab to see what drugs the MRSA is sensitive to. If it is sensitive to clindamycin then they give a combination of vancomycin and linezolid or linezolid and clindamycin. So, it depends on what the lab tests show and whether he actually has pneumonia or not. You should not have intimate contact with him until they say he is definitely healed.
Avatar n tn t aways have pus but usually is treated with antibiotics. Since it was not MRSA it sounds like the right antibiotics were given to you (clindamycin). It takes months for this to go away sometimes. Be sure to keep the towels, and wash rags , any clothes that come in contact with it very clean so as to not reinfect yourself. It you get a fever again and/or pus I would revisit the doctor.
Avatar n tn i just found out she has these acne like spot on her face and shoulder. She say it body ance. I read the bottle of cream she uses and its Clindamycin. I looked it up and it say it is use to treat acne and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus common in people who are hiv + ? She also has vigoligo. Couple week ago i broke out with the same kind of acne she has. I have test neg in june .
487969 tn?1249313291 There was also a kid who died here from MRSA pneumonia 4 months after he was treated for an MRSA infection under the arm. I mean, wow, can't be too careful. Also, my little girl is sick and she has been since I was in the hospital. I took her back to the dr yesterday and her ear drum sort of ruptured (she has a tube, but it is blocked in that ear). The ear drum is "deflated" .... the pedi's words... and there is puss collecting in her ear cannal. She is running a fever.
