1413519 tn?1281818201 He was sent to a specialist. Treatment plan, antibiotic drops, steroid drops, as well as some type of drops to help his pupil to shrink. Although his redness has diminished, his pupil is HUGE and he has very poor vision from that eye. This is after about 2 1/2 weeks of incident and 1 week of specialist treatment plan. I tried to surf net for information with little results. Any guess of outcome would be appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.
1627010 tn?1299446388 I have an 8 yr old yorkie with severe dry eye. She has had it for several yrs and did pretty good. I was putting 4 kinds of eye drops in her eyes as often as possible. The last 3 or 4 mos her eye has stopped responding to the drops. I've changed all the drops that I give her, added liver happy and cod liver oil to her diet, and it has helped some. Does anyone have any other suggestions that I might try. I do not want her to lose her eye sight.
Avatar m tn I just went through cataract surgery in November. It can be very worth it but there is a lot of aftercare and there can be complications. My dog did not have any issues other than the cataracts except for some inflammation. After surgery we had to deal with one minor ulceration and one fairly major ulceration. She is now healed and doing great. She is no longer fearful like she became when she couldn't see, and no longer slamming into walls either!
Avatar m tn But, while you are there, have him tested for Dry Eye. (my yorkie had dry eye..my vet said it is quite common in older dogs and smaller breeds seem more suseptible to it ) Mucus buildup / discharge from the eyes is the main symptom...also squinting of the eyes, (especially outside from sun and wind ) The test is very simple, painless,inexpensive...(paper strip), and takes about 60 seconds. Dry Eye can be very painful and can lead to eye ulcers and blindness.
Avatar n tn There are numerous causes for eye discomfort upon awakening. Bedroom ceiling fans are a major culprit. You need to see an eye-MD for a comprehensive dry eye and blepharitis evaluation. There are many specific causes of blepharitis and dry eye, and this diagnosis is too complicated to be sorted out on an internet forum. Once you know exactly what is going on, check back for helpful practical advice on lifestyle changes and treatment options.
Avatar f tn Yesterday (7/19/2016) I was diagnosed with not one, not two but THREE corneal ulcers in my left eye from contact misuse. My ophthalmologist prescribed me Ciprofloxacin (0.3%) eye drops for treatment. For two days, he has my putting one drop in my eye every two waking hours and then keeping my eye shut for four minutes so the drops don't drain out.
Avatar n tn Post operative, I have orally taken prednisolone 30mg daily for 3 days, ciprofloxacin tablets 500mg twice a day for 5 days, Acetazolamide 1 tab twice a day for 5 days. After a week I was added Timolol eye drops followed by brimonidine tartrate. A check after 3 weeks showed Iris adherent to wound and for this have just started atropine eye drops after 3 weeks, twice a day. There is no redness the eye now and no pain. My question is around what needs to be done further.
Avatar n tn Besivance may be OK....I am unsure. It would be fine for human use, but is it fine for dogs? I don't know. I would recommend calling your vet to ask advice about safety for its use in dogs. If you are not sure, then make an appointment with your vet for an appropriate antibiotic lotion. Your dog may even need oral antibiotics as well.
Avatar n tn However, I do know that in general prenisolone acetate opthalmic soluction eye drops are prescribed to help combat inflammation. Generally, they are used after eye surgeries to help the eye heal. Since prednisolone is a steroid it can cause an increased susceptibility to infections so it may be paired with an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or gatifloxacin. As with all medicines it is important to seek the advice of your physician about its safety.
620923 tn?1452915648 s an infection present if there is pus collecting around the eye. In my experience, an eye problem is usually caused by a scratch and antibiotic eye drops are needed to heal it. If you've been cleaning it yourself, just make sure you don't touch the eyeball & potentially cause more damage. Even soft towel fibers can cause more damage. I'm sure your pet store carries some kind of cleansing/soothing eye drop for dogs. That could be a good place to start to see if it helps her.
1462097 tn?1285902476 I had "Pink Eye" about a month ago for the first time in my life. Today I woke up with sever pain in my right eye, hurt to the touch and to open and close lids. I didnt think it was pink eye because I didnt have the usual tell tail signs of itching, "goopy" discharge, or sever redness. I could see redness in the outside corner and if I pulled the lid back the membrane was swollen and lumpy.

Avatar f tn Your friend has a very difficult decision to face. When we take animals into our home, they trust us to take care of their physical and mental needs. Your friend has broken that trust - unwittingly - but it's a hard fact to understand when we feel love and a connection to our pets. If your friends can take a step back and view the situation objectively, they may find that they simply cannot meet the needs of a dog, whether it is one dog or two.
12270954 tn?1424407445 I don’t know if his eye will heal and be normal or if I’ll have to give him eye drops for the rest of his life, much less, which eye drops do I give him?! (tear production drops, artificial tears, Tacrolimus, Genteal, I-Drops, Collidad Silver) I don’t know if the Cyclosporine will help produce tears or if it will give him cancer. I don’t know if he will go blind or they will want to take his eye out! I know one thing for sure, the saliva duct surgery sounds awful! Sorry for going on and on.
Avatar f tn I'm a 33 year old Male, I eat healthy and exercise regularly. 6 months ago I ended up with a stomach sickness that had me laid up for a week (nausea, diarrhea, vomiting). At the end of that I ended up with a eye infection, I went to a fast clinic and they said I had pinkeye, antibiotics and eye drops for a week didn't do anything. Went to a opthamologist and they said it's ocular herpes not pink eye.
