Usually a course of clindamycin or Amoxillicin is prescribed for an oral infection but Cipro should work fine.
It would be nice if anyone would answer if cipro is an ok antibiotic for a tooth infection. I had a crown come off and dentist said I needed root canal. they tried but said root was too narrow and I had to go to specialist. They gave me a prescription for amoxil for one other tooth, but I didn't6 fill it because it was just sensitive one day.
But now the one they were working on has flared up and the gum is swollen and red.
On Friday the cultures came back as well and they put her on Vanco and Cipro. She had been on Clindamycin since admission. According to the CT her parotid and submandibular glands as well as the masserteric muscle were surrounded by the infection. Early yesterday they went back in and drained everything out. Her swelling was minimal last night. Today, it’s much worse. Kinda like when we first went in. Her wbc and neutrophils are also more elevated today than than it’s been all along.
3 weeks ago she had what we thought was a sinus infection, low grade fever/headaches/drainage/fatigue, I called her dr who gave her cipro 250 twice a day, it did nothing, she went to dr on Aug 29, he said sinus infection maybe "a touch of pneumonia" gave her levaquin, she misplaced the script and wound up refilling her dental script (had for infected tooth got tooth pulled didn't need script) for amoxillin 500 4 times a day, she took it, did nothing, Labor Day weekend Sat we were
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.
My Mother suffers from sinus infections and she has found that her Chiropractor successfully treats her by draining her sinus.
Resently Doctor decided to take Urine test and found bladder infection and gave me CIPRO as an antibiotic. I feel rush under my ribs and pain in the back (right side). Do you think that this infection can cause that? I am still taking this CIPRO things and hope that this'll help. Do you know if lymph nodes can case pain or infection could go up from bladder and affect other areas? Please help!
Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Regarding the urinary tract infection It sounds like the organism causing the problem is getting resistant to the drug Cipro and you may need a new prescription. Also, Cipro may be causing you to throw up. it is possible you have a kidney infection still and it is causing pain that is radiating to the front.
Started taking ciprofloxacin for infection. Has taken it many many times before but this time i felt that my skipped beats increased quite alot. Can ciprofloxacin do this???
About a month later I started to have significant irritation with my prostate, increased frequency, and signs of bladder infection. Dr prescribed cipro 500 mg 2X daily for 10 days, based on previous prostaititis. Symptoms eased a little, but still had frequency issues, slight discomfort in pubic area, irritated meatus. Through this whole period, I have had ZERO discharge (no discharge for my wife either). My wife has had some bladder discomfort, and increased urinary frequency.
Hey there bbj, good to hear from you and especially that you achieved SVR! Sorry about the viruses though. I don't think it's a good idea to take any antibiotics unless you are certain you have a bacterial infection. They won't touch a viral infection and they can cause their own problems. If you might have influenza you should contact your doctor right away to ask for Tamiflu. It can lessen the severity and longevity of influenzas if taken early in the infection.
Thank you for your response, sometimes I feel blocked in my stomach I don't know if connected from my surgery? I don't take any pain relieve only Cipro because I still have infection, I don't like the side effect of cipro..
The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
I started out with a burning sensation while I urinated that existed right underneath my penis for about 3 weeks. I was on an extended Cipro treatment about 17 years ago when I had an intestinal infection, then again a year later for a tonsil abscess. After these events my heart arrhythmia started. I did not have one palpitation while having a very difficult birth 2 years prior to these illnesses, nor at any other time before that in my life. Then after the infections and the Cipro (along with other antibiotics) my heart started to palp.

I am right here with you girl. I had lap surgery last Wednesday and had a big nodule on my ureters excised, as well as polyps on my cervix and scar tissue from my last surgery. I have a bladder infection now as well and am on Cipro. Don't mess around, if the antibiotic doesn't work soon, go back. I am in full spasm and in the worst pain i have EVER experienced.
I had to take 20 days of Cipro for prostate infection. The e coli count was > 100,000. It took 4 or 5 day to take the temperature down and then it was a matter of getting through the 20 days. Right after I got off of Cipro (~2days) I was feeling constipated, A week after (yesterday) I realized my spleen was swollen (first time ever). Wife is a nurse and new where it was located.
