Avatar m tn About a month later I started to have significant irritation with my prostate, increased frequency, and signs of bladder infection. Dr prescribed cipro 500 mg 2X daily for 10 days, based on previous prostaititis. Symptoms eased a little, but still had frequency issues, slight discomfort in pubic area, irritated meatus. Through this whole period, I have had ZERO discharge (no discharge for my wife either). My wife has had some bladder discomfort, and increased urinary frequency.

1168718 tn?1464983535 I was also on Cipro after my bladder surgery 8 weeks ago. So, I should be infection free, right ???? Well, I don't think it is gone, and I have yet another sugery on the 20th , one week from Tuesday. Avatar f tn This started as a UTI infection the Urologist stated but now I have none and stated my bladder is just spasming out. They tried to put me on Tovias but no relief does not work. Has anybody else ever had this problem and does anybody know how to cure it. The only thing that makes it bearable is lots of water and vitamin C tablets but does not stop it. HELP!!!!
Avatar f tn Any positive feedback on taking Cipro? Diagnosed with bladder infection. Took first dose this morning. Scared to take second after reading all bad stuff. The only thing I feel is a little tingly in arm and hand.
886230 tn?1242081720 Have any of you had a bladder / UTI infection post op? I have been doing really great up until today. My back pain was worked out with very gentle massage and extmely careful hip & lower back adjustments from my chiropractor. He said that they really threw me around on the O.R. table... Once he did his ever so gentle adjustments my back has been excellent again!
Avatar f tn Put on Cipro but culture came back negative. Urologist did Cysto and took biopies of red areas in bladder—showed inflammation. Since then have had 3 episodes of terrible burning and frequency. Had 2 negative cultures but many WBC and RBC’s. Finally did a cathed sample and came back e-Coli over 100,000. Put on Cipro and symptoms disappeared but have returned 2 more times since. Both times testing positive for e-Coli.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
Avatar f tn Hi, Recently I went to my local ER with bad pains in my lower back and around my ribs. I told them my family has extensive histories of bladder/kidney issues (my aunt died as a child due to kidney failure, for example). After they did a simple urinalysis, I was given some antibiotics and sent on my way. Now, 3 days later, I find my symptoms are not even beginning to improve.
Avatar m tn when it started I had frequent urination and that was really it so I thought maybe I had a bladder infection. I made an appointment but the earliest I could get one is four days after my symptoms started. two days before I got to the doctor I started to get this moderate pain above my penis and it was really uncomfortable. it didn't really change with urination so full or empty it was still there.

Avatar n tn It does sound like a bladder unitary tract infection. Did they do a culture? Please don't take this the wrong way but did you get tested for any STD's?
Avatar f tn I recently took Cipro for an urinary tract infection, I didn't have any problem with the drug. It cleared it up in no time. Everyone is different though.
Avatar f tn Yes, just started tx on 4/13 and started having symptoms last weekend had urinalysis yesterday and got a call to start on Septra today as they detected UI infection so Dr. ordered the culture today. Initially I was told to take Cipro thru out the course of tx. I had a reaction to the Cipro and went off it then started Septra. I'm guessng white blood cells being low from tx makes us more vulnerable to infections. Thanks for the your posting today,it helps me see what to watch out for.
Avatar n tn Doctor has prescribed cipro 500mg 2x a day for about a month because he feels it might be a prostate infection. Urine tests at lab show no infection however dipstick testing at clinic show white blood cells in urine, proteins and pus. I have done an ultra sound of the urinary tract and shows prostate to be of normal size.

Avatar n tn t do a test and prescribed me cipro for a bladder infection. I took it for 5 days, 10 pills, and am only 5 weeks. I had some cramping but no bleeding at all. The ER couldn't see anything because I was around 4.5 weeks so I'm seeing my OB tomorrow but would love to read anyone else's experiences with Cipro during pregnancy. Thank you!
Avatar f tn Hi, I have the same problem from time to time. The cause was allways thought to be an infection and Cipro has done the job in the past. How long had your husband been on Cipro for and what strenght did they give him? It is possible that an infection is still not cleared up. It might help to get a urine analysis done and blood work to determine what is taking place. Talk to your GP about this, he might send him for a cystoscopy to see what is causing this.
Avatar f tn I thought I had a bladder infection, as I had the burning related symptoms. I took Macrobid 7 days BID and the symptoms did not go away. When I've had a bladder infection in past years, the symptoms would go away within a couple days, so this was really different because I took the whole RX and symptoms remained. I then went to my GP and had a urine culture done and nothing grew; however, my doctor said to take Cipro 500 mg BID for 7 days. The burning stopped.
Avatar n tn The question is whether you have a recurrent infection or a persistent infection. A recurrent infection is treated with an appropriate antibiotic (determined by a culture) and the infection is eliminated. Then there is a period when you have no infection, then a new infection occurs. A persistent infection is one that was never eliminated but just suppressed while on antibiotics. It is caused by a focus of infection somwhere in the urinary tract. It's caused by the same bacterium.
Avatar n tn Microscopic hematuria can be due to urinary tract (bladder) infection, swelling in the filtering system of the kidneys, stone in bladder or in a kidney, blood disease, like sickle cell anemia, certain medicines and tumors in the urinary tract. You may need a series of investigations like urine examination, urine culture, ultrasound or cystoscopy to confirm the diagnosis. Please consult a urologist and get it done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
4801019 tn?1359345412 These include Bladder hydrodistention, bladder training, medications via bladder instillation like dimethyl sulfoxide (DMS), heparin and Clorpactin and surgery is kept as the last resort. Avoidance of certain diets like cheese, alcohol, citrus juices, chocolates, coffee, cranberry juice, processed meats, onions, soy products, tea, tofu, tomatoes and yoghurt often help in improving the symptoms.
Avatar f tn hey Reese- I am right here with you girl. I had lap surgery last Wednesday and had a big nodule on my ureters excised, as well as polyps on my cervix and scar tissue from my last surgery. I have a bladder infection now as well and am on Cipro. Don't mess around, if the antibiotic doesn't work soon, go back. I am in full spasm and in the worst pain i have EVER experienced.
Avatar n tn I also had some pain in my bladder area and diarrhea, which I usually have during a kidney infection. That is when I realized it was a kidney infection. I have had several in the past because I don't get bladder infection symptoms, or the symptoms are very mild. I went to the Dr. when I was really sick and my urine test was negative. Some bacteria was found (see below.) I was completely shocked. My Dr. put me on Cipro and sent my urine to the lab.
Avatar f tn had my urine specimen sent for a culture and voila, it showed infection. I have been prescripted Cipro for 7 days so hopefully that will work. I also stay away from acidic foods mostly due to having had ulcers don't want them acting up again. Good advice.
Avatar m tn I dismissed this as either a UTI, bladder infection, etc and waited several days for the symptoms go away without seeking medical care. However, this time the node swelling freaked me out a bit so I went to a local medical clinic here in St. Maarten where I have been taking a sabbatical. The doctor took a urine sample and noted that it didn't "look" like an STD. He "thinks" I might have a prostate issue and sent me home a 7-day course of Cipro.
