Cipro and kidney infection

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro and kidney infection

cipro

Avatar f tn I have been on Cipro since about 1993-1994 and still use it on occasions where I end up with a UTI, or kidney infection. Since I have a permanent catheter, I'm more prone to infections. As much as I give credit to Cranberry juice or pills, as well as drinking lots of water, it does not prevent any infections nor does it cure infections, or at least not in my case. I mentioned drinking water as certain liquids are not good either. Two most often used are coffee and tea.
Avatar m tn Also, Cipro may be causing you to throw up. it is possible you have a kidney infection still and it is causing pain that is radiating to the front.
Avatar f tn Many doctors prescribe antibiotics for a week or two to ensure that the infection has been cured. Other tests such as intravenous pyelogram may also be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn You could have an obstruction or an infection in the kidney. I was quite close to dying from kidney failure when I was given the wrong antibiotics to take. This is nothing to mess around with. Please go to the ER, see a urologist, GP or urgent care.
Avatar m tn I have looked at symptoms of kidney infection and the only part that fits is the throbbing back pain. No fever, no nausea or vomiting, chills. I am fatigued, but I haven't been sleeping well because if the throbbing pain. I have been drinking plenty of fluids, cranberry juice and lots of water. I hate to waste the money on another doctor visit if they are just going to give me a muscle relaxer for back pain.
1442701 tn?1286383987 Got hit with a bad kidney infection. We went to a bowling party on new year's eve & I thought that maybe I had pulled a muscle in my back even though I didn't even throw the ball that many to times since my lower left side of my back had been hurting. Felt like labor pains Monday night it hurt so bad. On Cipro now. I just wondered if anyone else has unexpected kidney infections too.

250398 tn?1225263291 ll be a couple of months before I am back to a place I can see a doctor that I would feel comfortable understands me. Lucky I guess that I have the Bactrim and Cipro with me. Discharge seems to be much less and more cloudy to clear than white now, after 1.5 days on the two Antibiotics. But, still sore in the lower abdomen. Maybe a bladder infection. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn Resently Doctor decided to take Urine test and found bladder infection and gave me CIPRO as an antibiotic. I feel rush under my ribs and pain in the back (right side). Do you think that this infection can cause that? I am still taking this CIPRO things and hope that this'll help. Do you know if lymph nodes can case pain or infection could go up from bladder and affect other areas? Please help!
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm 20 years female. On 22 May I was diagnosed with a kidney stone and kidney infection after two months of urinary symptoms on and off. 22 May I started taking stone medicines and antibiotics for an infection I felt better for two weeks almost and the symptoms came back again I went back to the doctor at 31 May to check the stones again he told me only one left and the infection is still there.
Avatar n tn I have been struggling to get over what I thought was a UTI for the past month. (I was given a course of cipro without my Naturopathic Doc doing a urinalysis because I was going out of town the day after my symptoms began). I took the cipro (it was a short dose- 3 days, taken 2 times per day), and started to feel better. Then about a week later symptoms came back, tried to treat it naturally and then decided to try the cipro again.
Avatar f tn Hi, Usually, the signs and symptoms of kidney infection begin to clear up within a few days of treatment. Take the entire course of antibiotics recommended by your doctor to ensure that the infection is completely eradicated. Recurrent kidney infections may result from an underlying medical problem, such as a structural abnormality.
Avatar f tn They then said i had a yeast infection from medication. and put me on Cipro, and still had pain.. so then they put me on for a irriated urtheia (sorry my spelling isn't to great) I was on this for 2x a day for 30 days. Again i started to feel better, then a week later.. I had the burning/soreness back and the urologist put me on Cipro again. This has been going on for 8months and now the dr just throws cipro at me.
Avatar n tn I'd go back to the clinic as it could be that it is a kidney infection and the bacteria are resistant to the antibiotics you have. I know you don't want to cancel your trip but your health must come first!
1560663 tn?1298046527 Last month I had a kidney infection and I was put on Cipro and I also had a colonoscopy where diarriea was involved and I think it may have caused some bacteria. What is the name of a non std vaginal bacterial infection and how is it normally treated and can it be treated naturally. Thanks for any help you can give. I am also going through menopause. Oh my Doctor also diagnosed me last month as pregnant. I laughed....he then said it was probably because I was going through menopause.
2176548 tn?1340677817 Anyone here had a kidney infection before? What helps for pain? And how long does the pain normally last??
Avatar n tn I was recently within the last month diagnosed with a kidney stone that lead to a UTI. I finished a 7 day treatment of cipro yesterday and the UTI symptons went away, but my both my sides still hurt randomly from time to time. Should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn I also had some pain in my bladder area and diarrhea, which I usually have during a kidney infection. That is when I realized it was a kidney infection. I have had several in the past because I don't get bladder infection symptoms, or the symptoms are very mild. I went to the Dr. when I was really sick and my urine test was negative. Some bacteria was found (see below.) I was completely shocked. My Dr. put me on Cipro and sent my urine to the lab.
Avatar m tn I am 29 and I took cipro about 8 months ago for a kidney infection and after I took it for a few days I developed pain, tingling and crawly feelings on my back. I didn't realize that it could be from the cipro. I finished the prescription and went on to develop severe back pain between my shoulder blades and tingling skin in my arms and legs. I felt like my arms and legs had sunburn and it was hard to wear clothes sometimes. I went to a neurologist and a rhumey.
1840891 tn?1431547793 Glad you're feeling better this morning. How lucky to have not only your prescription meds at home for a UTI but also your own scientist and microscope at home! Please keep a watch on this. I'm glad that you seem to be responding to the Cipro and the analgesic, but it's important not to let it develop into a kidney infection, which can be much more serious. It's also important to consider what may be causing reoccurring UTIs?
Avatar m tn infection) so she put me on 7 days of cipro. Ive had a couple UTIs in the past and taken cipro for them and usually I would start to feel better about three days into taking them. this time though the cipro hasn't made any change. ive been off it about five days now and the pain is gone for the most part but ive been having some other new symptoms. I feel as though I cant empty my bladder and im having to strain to urinate.
Avatar f tn Mine went away after 3 or 4 days. When I was hospitalized with a kidney infection I had cipro through an IV for 4 days and was on Zofran round the clock (every 4 hours) because it made me sick the entire time.
Avatar f tn Hello, It is good that the scan has come out clear for any kidney stones. Causes can be divided according to the affected organ and they are Kidney conditions (infection, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease), Bladder conditions (cystitis, bladder polyp, bladder tumor), Urethral conditions (Sexually transmitted diseases, urethral injury, vaginal inflammation), and certain bleeding disorders. It can be due to chronic UTI or vaginitis also.

Avatar m tn He said that I had pus cells is my urine and checked it for tumors, cancers kidney stones and he said it is none of these. He asked me if I have been sexually active and I said yes. I said I had sex with a female in July and 2 days after that I had burning when I urinated. This lasted 3 weeks and then stopped in mid August. Since then I have had no burning at all and no other signs of what in my mind I am thinking could be gonnorhea or chlamydia or trich.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm going through the same thing invisible444 has right now. Today was my last day of antibiotics and I still have intense pain on my right flank. I also have kidney stones but that was ruled out last Thursday as their was no blood in my urine. I've asked to be referred to a urologist twice already and they just want to fix the problem themselves, but being that I've seen a urologist for my kidney stones before I thought best thing was to continue seeing a urologist.
Avatar f tn Even though I took all of these meds, can it be that I still have a UTI , kidney infection or kidney disease? I am in the process of getting a renal and pelvic sonogram but it is a long time from now because of the holidays. Please help! Pain is unbearable.
