Celexa for insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa for insomnia

celexa

Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a 28 y/o male and I've had a history of panic attacks (on 40mg Celexa for it). I've been pretty good, but about 2 weeks ago I came into a bout of insomnia (stress from work and grad school). My doc wrote me a scrip for 150mg of Trazodone. I've never had Trazodone before and the literature I've read seems to indicate 150mg out of nowhere is a high dose. Opinions? Anyone worked with this stuff before?
726698 tn?1249781717 My doc put me on 50 mg of Trazodone a week ago for insomnia, Its not doing ****, I took one at 10pm now its going on 2:30am, same story all week, How long does it take for this to work? I don't feel anything from it. Ive tried Ambien too, that did nothing Id just wake up 2 hours after taking it , then be ready for the sun to come up, so frustrating. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem first starting out, did it start working eventually???
Avatar m tn i have been on celexa for a few weeks now. not found of any meds period. but did anyone ever start seeing spots when staring at lights more then usual or floaters more then usual ?
930431 tn?1245638151 Has anyone had insomnia while taking celexa. I heard that I am having a paradoxal effect ??.
Avatar f tn I was on cymbalta for a short time and I could not sleep either. Doctor wanted me to switch from Celexa to Cymbalta. Because of my husband's insecurity position at work at that time I couldn't keep taking it (would have been too expensive without insurance). I didn't think it helped anyway. So back to Celexa. I can't take Celexa alone either, it acts like Cymbalta (no sleeping) but not as much.
358486 tn?1294776388 I was diagnosed with fibro a year ago but have had it for 12 years, and have been on celexa for yearS, it didnt help one thing! I switched to Cymbalta 60mg 4 weeks ago and have much less fatigue and anxiety. They are in the same family of anti-depressants SSRI which increase "feel good" hormones in your body, but i feel cymbalta works much better!! Im hoping to also start Lyrica as well. Let me know if you have any questions.
824226 tn?1238634194 They have all gone away for the time being. The side effects that were most common for me were insomnia, irritability, lower libido, and some fatigue in the evenings. I am curious if you are not experiencing these side effects has it decreased your appetite like it is supposed to?
Avatar n tn Is it worth it? I cannot speak for everyone but for myself it was worth it. I am now virtually anxiety free. I will also say that I tried celexa. It worked but gave me a side affect that had nothing to do with anxiety and so I switched to Wellbutrin. I think you have to weigh the costs and the benefits.
Avatar m tn One other thing - my Dr prescribed Celexa because he thought that my insomnia might have been anxiety related. I took 20mg of Celexa for 7 days after which the side effects (heavy chest, awful restlessness and agitation, tingling extremities) forced me to abort with a 2 day roll-off (10mg). This is Monday morning and my last Celexa dosage was at noon last Wednesday. Since then, I have continued to suffer from the side effects, which start around noon, and let up after I go to bed.
Avatar m tn t sure if I was showing signs of depression but thought it might help with the anxiety that was feeding my insomnia. My wife has used Celexa for years and it works well for her. No side effects at all and she's completely normal. So, I thought I'd give it a try. After 7 days at 20Mg I was all wound up, pacing the floor, heart palps - really terrible side effects. Worse than the sleeping pills. So I tapered off quickly 10Mg for 2 days then cold turkey.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Celexa for a couple of months now, and it gives me HORRIBLE insomnia at night, and then I'm tired throughout the day. I haven't been on any of your combinations, though.
497348 tn?1283436066 Yes celexa has for sure helped me... but the funny thing is that when i didnt take it for two days I almost felt alot better... and yes insomnia was a huge side effect for me it sucked.. i had really bad stomach aches and very vivid dreams which is normal for any ssri... anyway i can still orgasm but i feel like its not as good as it was before i started taking celexa... if that makes sence..
Avatar f tn I took the Klonopin with Effexor originally. Had to get off Effexor because of the insomnia. Celexa seems better for me. I have a couple days a month when I have General anxiety usually leading to a panic attack. I don't want this to get worse so I am hesitant to take this last step in the taper.
Avatar n tn When that did nothing for the insomnia and resulting panic, I went to a regular doctor the next day and he prescribed Celexa and Klonopin. I did sleep last night, thankfully. My question now is, can I take one of these low dose Xanax today? I started the Celexa last night and took 1 mg Klonopin to sleep. I just want to feel normal again.
Avatar n tn I have just gotten Celexa but I am scared to start using it right now because i see my gf on wed. Would bad enough side effects occur to where I might be different towards my gf? I also want your advice on what's better. Lexapro or Celexa, or maybe even what's better then those for anxiety. I have done everything to attack my anxiety by quitting smoking and all drugs but it's only help a little bit. I finally came to the conclusion that I am ready to start medication.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm new and looking for some help. I've been struggling for a long time with anxiety. I have tried CBT twice a week for nine months with Ativan as needed. I was a lot better but still not stable. I cannot sleep through the night without anxiety/panic attacks. And the morning is the worst. I just started 5 mg celexa 4 weeks ago and my doctor wanted me to increase my ativan to help with anxiety. It seems like whenever I take too much, I feel sick and loopy.
484508 tn?1290010544 I was taking Celexa for a while and did have a few side effects that were a bit bothersome. The dizziness was one of them along with constipation and almost no sex drive. The dizziness seemed to taper off over a little bit of time though. I'm glad to hear that it's a least helping your problems with depression and anxiety though. Talk to your doctor if the side effects don't go away because there might be a better medication for you that can help you but, not give you the dizziness.
1539379 tn?1294332115 Well...it's time to get out of the bed, out of the house, and back to a normal life. Went to a psychiatrist today, and long story short, he put me on 40mg of celexa (20mg first week, 40mg thereafter). I've heard it's comparable to lexapro, which has gotten good reviews. Anything I should be on the look out for? Anyone have any experience with celexa...if so, how'd it work for you?
Avatar m tn I started Celexa 2 weeks ago for anxiety/depression. Since then, my sex drive has decreased significantly. Nothing really turns me on and if I try to masturbate I can become erect but only 90% or so of what I'm used to. I can reach orgasm, but it takes a LOT of time and effort. I'm afraid that given the opportunity I'd be impervious to the charms of a woman.
Avatar f tn Somnolence is a side effect for almost all SSRI's, but so is insomnia. They affect everyone differently. I take Celexa and do find I get a little sleepy at times. I work and it doesn't seem to affect me unless I have down-time. I hope it does well for you. It has been a God send for me.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Celexa for only two days and I was wondering if, even though I take it at night before I go to bed, could it cause drowsiness when I wake up and during the day? I wake up feeling very tired, like I hadn't slept much during the night even though I've been sleeping 8 hours. I also have an incredible loss of appetite. I just tried having a bowl of cereal and I could barely eat it. I'm only on 10 mg, and I also have Ativan (.
Avatar f tn Okay...call your doctor and tell him/her that you're afraid to take Celexa. There are plenty of other meds but they all have side effects...some of which you probably won't experience at all. V.
Avatar n tn t want to take klonopin, celexa or paxil for sleeping issues. You have been prescribed these meds for anxiety, but you are self medicating and not taking the celexa so your doctor can't help you much if you continue with that practice. You need to level with your doctor so he knows what is going on - no idea why you kept that a secret? Reading about sleep disorders might help you find ways to relax so you can get a good sleep, or else go to a sleep clinic for help.
1306047 tn?1333243591 Howdy, I've had pretty severe General Anxiety for ten years now and also a form of OCD for about six years. I've never been medicated and have tried everything to beat it on my own, all to no avail. I finally got the balls to try an SSRI. I was given Celexa at 20mg. I have to say that it has worked wonders.
Avatar m tn Thinking it was the Luvox, I tapered off of it over several weeks. And for a year I was on nothing while going to my ENT for test ( for possible meneiers). Had several test that came back negative. My eardrums are protruding out so he wants to cut a little hole into each ear drum. To relive the pressure. During all this I started a new job and I would lay in bed at night and have bad anxiety and panic attacks and I could not sleep . I stated taking .
