Common Questions and Answers about Celexa withdrawal insomnia

celexa

Avatar m tn I stopped them cold turkey and suffered a week or more of rebound insomnia and withdrawal. With that behind me my GP asked me if I wanted to try Celexa; he wasn't sure if I was showing signs of depression but thought it might help with the anxiety that was feeding my insomnia. My wife has used Celexa for years and it works well for her. No side effects at all and she's completely normal. So, I thought I'd give it a try.
497348 tn?1283436066 Since this post, have you started taking the celexa? I took it for one month two months ago. The only symptoms I had were trouble sleeping and I could not orgasm. It helped me with anxiety though and when I got angry, I did not get as agitated as usual. I then tried zoloft and experienced the same symptoms only worse insomnia and I didn't feel like it helped my anxiety. Oh, and I did not have withdrawl symptoms.
Avatar f tn but when I woke up today, the numb feeling/tingling has returned (it seems happen when the ativan wears off). Is it possible to have withdrawal symptoms after having taken celexa for only 2 weeks?! Any insight would be appreciated!
Avatar m tn This is a very hard drug to stop taking, and you were on it a long time. Insomnia is the most common long-term withdrawal side effect when stopping antidepressants. Did you have insomnia before going on the Luvox? Do you have new emotional problems now you didn't have then? That could indicate you stopped taking the Luvox too quickly for you, even though you tapered off.
Avatar m tn i have been on celexa for a few weeks now. not found of any meds period. but did anyone ever start seeing spots when staring at lights more then usual or floaters more then usual ?
Avatar f tn I have had serious issues finding him another psychiatrist to prescribe the Celexa . I stopped abruptly so he could have mine. I know it's illegal but he really needs it. I'm hoping I found a doctor who can perscibe it for him next week. My appointment is longer out. I can't bare to watch him got through the tremors, mood swings, crying jags, and depression I am going through. Who knows, maybe when all is said and done, getting off it will be the best thing for me!
Avatar m tn First, you haven't lost any serotonin to replenish -- Celexa didn't increase your serotonin, it altered the way your body processes it and blocks its breakdown. I don't know if you stopped slowly or abruptly, but you could be suffering a withdrawal if you have a level of anxiety much greater now than that which you had that caused you go on the drug in the first place.
930431 tn?1245638151 Has anyone had insomnia while taking celexa. I heard that I am having a paradoxal effect ??.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm on 150 welbutrin, I too have a headache, and dizzy. I'm also on celexa, trazadone, which was cut down when I started welbutrin. I had headaches when I started celexa, but as I got used to it they stopped. I kinda stagger when I walk. Maybe I'm getting older (60), but this didn't happen until I started welbutrin. Hope this helps. I feel much better tho.
Avatar f tn I was on cymbalta for a short time and I could not sleep either. Doctor wanted me to switch from Celexa to Cymbalta. Because of my husband's insecurity position at work at that time I couldn't keep taking it (would have been too expensive without insurance). I didn't think it helped anyway. So back to Celexa. I can't take Celexa alone either, it acts like Cymbalta (no sleeping) but not as much.
Avatar n tn I have never been on Celexa myself, but I have read many posts regarding withdrawal from it and it seems to take people a month or two to feel completely normal. If you put Celexa up in "Search Medhelp" you can read other posts specific to your question. Everyday should get a little better. Take care.......
824226 tn?1238634194 I currently take 40mg of celexa at night and am taking 37.5 mg of phentemerine. I have not noticed any side effects but what are they I am curious if ever i noticed something different about myself. I cant find anything on the internet to find an answer to this question.
Avatar f tn I would only imagine that the physician, who has been prescribing you the tramadol so freely, should be willing to help you out with the side effects of the withdrawals that you are now experiencing. The withdrawal from it is essentially the same as the one for the opiates and usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms followed by several more of just insomnia and general weakness and depression.
Avatar n tn ssri withdrawal can be worse than opiate withdrawal. Doesn't have to be, but some are hit very hard by it. You seem to be one of those. Never stop these cold turkey. If you can't handle the withdrawal, go back on the last dose of Celexa at which you felt fine and taper down as slowly as you need to.
Avatar f tn That is a very interesting story, going cold turkey on Celexa and not having withdrawal side effects. For anyone reading, do not do this because the withdrawal mental effects can be unnecessarily agonizing and pointless. In your case, you had no choice the way you describe it, so I am not passing judgement. What was your dose? You should talk to a pharmacist immediately though for information.
Avatar n tn Does withdrawal from Celexa cause nausea & vomiting? I quit taking it cold turkey 5-6 days ago. While I realize this is not a good idea, it was not intentional. I called my pharmacy for a refill. They said I had no refills left and they would call my doctor for it. Unfortunately, this was over the weekend. Apparently, my doctor's office did not respond to the pharmacy's request.
Avatar m tn I was first prescribed Zolft for Depression then was switched to Paxil, then Effexor and now on 40 mg Celexa 1 x a day. I had panics due to stress and was prescribed Alprazolam along with the Celexa. I was gradually increased to 2mg Alprazolam 3 x day over 4 years and now having no insurance or vehicle my Dr. refused to see me due to missing 2 appts. I had severe withdrawels and ended up in the emergency room. I now have another Dr. who prescribed .
1166402 tn?1303847056 You might be experiencing withdrawal from the Celexa. Remeron is a different antidepressant that will act differently on you neurotransmitters. For example, Celexa was only inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin while Remoron is an antagonist of the 5-HT1A receptor and is most likely to affect your dopamine and noradrenaline (by affecting the adrenergic and 5-HT receptors) levels while not inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin itself as it's a serotonin receptor antagonist.
457882 tn?1235377080 he also prescribed me 20 mg celexa and i wondered if i should wait to get over withdrawal or take it now as im going through the withdrawal...
Avatar f tn I see no harm in taking them perscribed until my celexa kicks in because celexa takes about a month to work and im only been on it for two weeks. But my question is how come when i stopped taking the Clonozapams a year ago I was fine? When i hear so many people say about how bad the withdrawl symptoms are?
