is celexa just for depression?? or does it also help with anxiety's?? is this one on the bottom of the list?? like zoloft,paxil,lexapro,prozac..this is in the same category as these others....please explain this??

So sorry to hear that your Dad is going through this. Sounds like it's such a discomfort for him to get anything down. After a while of not eating, one's appetite for anything seems to fade. Would some sort of liquid nutrition be an option? i know there are some healthy meal replacements out there that may trigger his appetite again. I'm not sure if he can drink it slowly or not. Perhaps a nutritionist can suggest some options for easy swallowing and digestion.

Where one has had great results from Celexa...another has not. Are you in therapy for your eating disorder? If not, it's a good place to start. The only way you will know what will work best for you is by trying it. But since you have the eating disorder there may be some that would work better for you, see a psychiatrist as this is his specialty and he would be the most knowlegeable when it comes to what will best fit your needs. My husband has been taking Celexa for the last 2 years and doing fine. I, too, have been on Celexa but had to quit due to becoming pregnant. I know the medicine works, but here recently his medicine doesn't seem to be helping him at all.. He takes it for his anxiety which was awful before the medicine, and he is having bad anxiety and sort of panic attacks, but the aren't as bad as they were before he started. Is it possible that bumping his milligrams from 20 to 40 might help at all?

I want to try a drug to help me with the withdrawel affects of the crutch of eating for emotional needs. My Psychiatrist said Celexa, Prozac or Zoloft are my options. Celexa being the main one. I am concerned that I will gain weight though from their affects. I am also concerned it will increase my appetite. Will it help me with my mental addiction for the need to eat all the time? Can anybody help me? Has anybody had experience with it? Please help me!

I started taking celexa about 5 months ago for mild depression and more recently phentermine for weight loss but these jerking movements were happening way before the phentermine. Can't seem to relate anything else to it. Is it possible the Celexa could cause that? Just curious if anyone else has had or ever had that before. Thanks!

It can teach you how to deal properly with all that has happened, and coping skills for any future events. As for medication, what works for one...may not another. The only way for us to know what will work for us is to take what is prescribed and see how we do. It is often trial and error in finding the right one, but well worth it when we do! Therefore, getting other's opinions is of no use to you. Celexa is widely used with excellent results, but not everyone will do well on it.

Will only say I eat a lot of raw veggies, take a Stress B, and get a lot of exercise, but I gained a ton of weight on Paxil, and am now gaining on Celexa. Wish I had a solution for you. As for constipation, had that on tricyclics, but on Paxil and Lexapro usually had the opposite problem, and on Celexa it's in between and I take magnesium. So there you go. These meds are just weird, they get weirder the older you get, and they affect everyone differently.

I finally reached the 200 mg dose of Lamictal and was on that dose for 2 1/2 weeks. Maybe I should have given it longer. I wanted relief from my anxiety and I wasn't as social. I went on a girls trip and just wanted to go to bed early for some reason. I was more quiet and had fears of death and had crying spells on it. I didn't want to waste any more time. Celexa did well for me so I decided I gave Lamictal long enough and should feel better by then.
