Celexa and hot flashes

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa and hot flashes

celexa

Avatar f tn ssris can cause flushing and the sweats, not the same as hormonally induced hot flashes. You're a bit young for hot flashes, and anti-depressants don't treat hot flashes. Some docs prescribe them for some of the mental stuff that accompanies hormonal imbalances, though personally I think that's a bad way to go about it -- better to attack the problem than cover it up with a med that alters the brain, but that's me.
Avatar f tn I am a 4'10" 27 year old female weighing 102 lbs. I am prescribed celexa 40 mg and adderall 30 mg BID (2x a day) by the same doctor. Lately I can't sleep at night my blood pressure is high 130/90. My heart rate seems really fast. I've been twitching a lot, have hot and cold flashes, abdominal cramping, a lump on the back of my neck (right side), body is sore, frequent urge to urinate but hardly pee and my skin is warm to the touch. What's wrong with me?
11852 tn?1216841443 Just got from the endo. Good news is all my scans came back clean, so it looks like I'm cancer-free. I would be doing the happy dance, but I'm too dam tired to really care. Sad isn't it! Doc ask me how I was feeling and I told her about the extreme fatigue I've felt for a long time. I asked if there could be other causes besides thyroid history and the menopause. Her theory is I'm depressed and Effexor (taking for hot flashes) isn't working.
Avatar f tn I take celexa and I love it. I have been taking for almost 8 years and it has worked beautifully for me. I take it at night as it does help with insomnia . I think you should do quite well on it.

Avatar f tn I have been having shortness of breath and my heart has been skipping beats on a regular basis. Is this normal? Hot flashes have been a nightmare along with being short at times with my family. Which I have read is normal. Thanks for letting me know about the shortness of breath and heart beats.
Avatar f tn I am taking Effexor XR and it has been a lifesaver for me. I am on Arimidex and was having hot flashes and was depressed after breast cancer treatment. I had been on it before and stopped taking it without any problem. I know everybody is different. It sure helped me!!!
644988 tn?1236364548 These are mostly at night but can happen anytime. I become really hot and uncomfortable, I break out in a sweat and it can last anything from minutes to half an hour. I don't think it's a menopause thing. I'm on quite a lot of meds and I'm hoping someone out there with plenty of knowledge might help me pin it down. Currently I'm taking: Citalopram 40mgs (3yrs), Quetiapine 50-100mgs (2.
Avatar n tn they called it a hysterectomy. I got through the hot flashes the first three years. the fourth I developed tissue and bone loss. fith and sixth year I begin having mental issues. Sleep disturbances and depression, anxiety attacks, memory loss and more. I took Premerin for the first year, Ive since not taken anything at all. I feel mentally horriable as if something in my brain is chemicly wrong. Dr, wants me on celexa. Three days on it and my heart is papatating. I feel sick on it.
Avatar n tn I was doing great on this plan until January the first when medicaid in my state changed their formulary and will no longer pay for either of these drugs. Now I am on 60mgs of Celexa a day and my anxiety is through the roof. I cannot even function. Hot flashes, can't breathe, wild thoughts, the whole shebang. Lately I have been taking a .5 mg tab of Ativan every morning and this is enough to help me get things under control and function for the day.
492898 tn?1222243598 Thank you SO much for sharing this information. I was on low dose estrogen/ testosterone following my hysterectomy in 2003. My PCP precscribed Celexa about 3 years ago for menopause symptoms: mostly mood swings, some depression and low sex drive. I was doing really well on this combination. I was just diagnosed in October with LCIS and had to stop the hormones. I'm having hot flashes and the other symptoms are really effecting me more.
Avatar f tn says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I saw a different doc this time because mine wasn't available. He said wellbutrin is usually for depression and since I came for anxiety that I should try something more geared to that. I took wellbutrin this morning and it relaxed me for a little while. I have been getting hot flashes all day and don't have much of an appetite, but I don't get sleepy. I hate the side effects. I don't feel like doing anything.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy in my 30s in mid 40s was having hot flashes and md put me on estrogen AND started treating Hashimoto. I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.
Avatar f tn She had to have a totally historictimy(sp) at 24-26 because she had cancer, and that through her in to early menopause and so she dealt with the hot flashes for years (she is 51 now) and she finally went to the doctor and it was her body being so out of wack so the doctor put her on some hormones to help balance her out. You might also go to your local herbs store to see if they have anything that might help you out natural but always consult with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker put in about 2 months ago after ungoing 2 ablation procedures for WPW. I have been experience hot flashes during the night and also a few during the day ever since. I am wondering if this could possibly be a side effect of the pacemaker or would it be happening anyway due to my age (52) and menopause.

Avatar n tn A lot of the medications when increased make me feel horrible, like I was going crazy sometimes. I started on Celexa and it seemed to work the best for me and I went back and forth on 20 and 40mg for several years, along with the Zanax. Finally my doctor decided I needed to be at 40mg Celexa and wanted me off Xanax and on Klonopin. When going through this change I wanted to admit myself to the hospital...I don't know what the exact cause was.
Avatar n tn do all women experience hot flashes with tamoxifen. and if not does this mean that the drug is not working This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/685418'>Tamoxifen or AI?</a>.

1026267 tn?1257591273 I think it has something to do with the thyroid thing. I was experiencing the same thing. I had a TT 3 years ago and started having hot flashes off and on. Yes, I'm 43 so you'd think it could be menopause but I went to my gyno and had tests and it's not. They come and go with me. I'll have them all day long for 2 weeks straight and then not all for months. I'm on 125 mcg of synthroid 3 days a week and 137 for 4. I also take 5 mcg of Cytomel everyday.
Avatar n tn The night sweats stopped almost immediately, and the hot flashes became fewer and less severe. Sometimes I feel a little flushed, like one is coming on, but then it just seems to fizzle. The pain in my legs and breasts has also subsided, and I’m feeling great. The best part is that I’m actually able to get a good night’s sleep again!
Avatar f tn You asked about hot flashes and B6 toxicity. All I can tell you is I started having hot flashes and B6 symptoms the very same month I went into menopause. It was like my body chemistry changed and I could no longer metabolize the B6. My hot flashes have subsided now with the help of taking herbs prescribed by a dr of oriental medicine and accupuncture. Like you I tried conventional methods to reduce my hot flashed but nothing helped until I found a licensed dr of oriental medicine.
7892775 tn?1395673991 I've been experiencing hot flashes almost 2 weeks now. They keep coming and going day and night. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting in AC I still get them and it's notjust ffeeling hot but it's also sweating. Has anyone else experienced this?
9704378 tn?1553726192 If you have any other symptoms, get checked for any virus or other sickness, but just hot flashes is usually normal. I have them, mostly at night, and our bedroom is in the basement where it's nice and freezing. Just stay hydrated and hopefully they let up. They should go away post pregnancy. Good luck!
