Common Questions and Answers about Carbs diet good

carb

Avatar n tn It says I should be consuming about 130 carbs but it seems to me so many foods contain carbs. An apple and banana are both things I thought was good but they contain carbs that add to my 130. Carrots is another snack I wanted to eat and also has about 10 g.
Avatar f tn You doctor is another good resource, they can give you recommended parameters for amounts of carbs, calories, etc. Using that information and blood glucose testing you could tailor you diet to keep you blood sugar within the recommended limits.
1085545 tn?1284042254 Anything high in fiber is better as it reduces the usable carbs. Soups are good. I eat eggs for breakfast with one piece of bread. There are sites that list the carbs of various foods like calorieking.
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar n tn Recently quit smoking (7 months ago) gained 15lbs. I'm 5 foot even and 156lbs. Any advice I. How to lose. I have upped my exercise and I'm on a 1200 cal diet, watching carbs, eating more veggies and increased water intake. I don't want to lose fast or unhealthy. Not looking for a number on the scale just want clothes to fit better at least.
Avatar n tn Can anyone give me tips on a good diet plan or food to eat to lose fat and weight?
988694 tn?1332359479 I, personally, try to maintain a diet low in simple carbs and higher in complex carbs, because I have insulin resistance and weight issues, so I don't need anything that compounds those issues. I have not, however, changed my diet to exclude gluten. I don't think the amount of carbs has anything to do with hypothyroidism.
Boy Diabetes means your Body can not control the rise of BG. What causes BG to rise... Carbohydrates Carbs raise BG ALL carbs Whole wheat, brown rice, most fruits, potato... all carbs raise BG Steak has very few carbs so it wont effect your BG much, however the mashed potatoes will send BG through the roof. Google "low carb hi fat diet" (LCHF) LOTS of diabetics can control there BG by eating LCHF diet without meds.
Avatar f tn Healthy diet is high in unprocessed and minimally processed foods. This means you will eat lean meats in moderation, plenty of green and brightly colored veges, moderate whole grain cereals, some fruits - but stay away or limit portions of very sweet fruits, nuts, some dairy, healthy fats / oils. Bad carbs could be considered those white carbs that break down quickly. This includes bread, white rice, cookies, candies etc.
Avatar f tn I guess it is a diet that doesn't suit you. Any extreme diet can make people feel nauseous or get the runs or get blocked up, just use common sense if your body is telling you it isn't doing it for you. Low carbs is a good thing, but no carbs can give a person really bad constipation, so at the least, take a fiber gummy every day if you're sure you want to do this diet.
Avatar n tn Yout vet IS right, high protein diets will harm you cat's kidneys...but the thing I don't get, you cat is diabetic or you're just scared that diets with carbs will cause diabetes?? Because it's not carbs that cause diabetes, it's a really high sugar diet that causes it in animals, commercial food have just the carbs and proteins and fats that your cat need (the good ones, of course there are some brands that can damage pets).
Avatar f tn Im coming up to 14weeks with my 3rd baby and I'm struggling to eat healthy. Before pregnancy I'd eat incredibly healthy lots of fish, veg, fruit but none of these things are appealing to me much. Every now and then but carbs are on the top of my thing's that taste better. Ive always got a strange taste in my mouth and at times puts me of eating completely which isnt like me. I was just wondering if any of you girls are experiencing the same thing.....
Avatar f tn what is a really good diet to go on and how does it work? i want to lose weight fast, i have tried a few diet pills but they make me tired do any of them work?
Avatar f tn , which diets eliminate all carbs. Even Dr. Atkins strongly advised against staying on his diet plan long-term for the same reason: no carbs. I visited Weight Watchers and inquired about their plan for diabetics and was told there is an extra cost because their instructors have to take additional training. I even went to a bookstore to purchase the WW book which was the size of a phone book!
Avatar m tn It works for me. Yes, you have to watch the amount of carbs you eat but it does matter what kind of carbs they are and where they fall on the GI. As for rice, white or brown, it has the same effect on my blood sugar (a bad one!) and so I have cut it out of my diet. Pumpernickel works for me and does not spike my glucose levels. The best pasta to eat is a brand called "Dreamfields"; it is specially processed to reduce the amount of digestible carbs.
Avatar m tn i need to manage my sugar better. i tried exercise, cutting out most carbs in my diet. but i get attacked by pasta and pizza from time to time. i really have cut back a lot on my diet but need other tips so that my a-1c gets better. any ideas?
Avatar n tn I'm looking for a weight gain diet that focuses on a active lifestyle since I'm going to be working out a lot.
Avatar n tn You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy. After a few weeks adjustment to it, you will fill up faster, hardly ever feel hungry, and always have a ready source of energy (your body fat!). Google it! Tons of info out there and many facebook groups!
Avatar n tn You can eat different vegetables, fruits, protein and healthy fats. Grilled fish and seafood dishes can be some nice meal options.
451075 tn?1210258648 thanks everyone for the input, means a lot. I decided to ditch Oat Brand and replace that with mixed berries in the morning. Then have some more berries during the middle of the day. I am feeling great and my workouts are great too so far (I am 3 days into the diet).
Avatar f tn Hi, I am looking for a good diet for pre diabetics that also is okay on my liver. High levels of AST, ALT, and Albumin. I eat healthy and workout six days a week. In fact lost 12 pounds since January and now weigh 141. do not drink more than once a year, so any suggestions on a good diet to prevent type 2?
Avatar f tn Yes weight watchers is a good plan. I suggest that you eat a balanced diet and exercise approx 3-4 times a day for 30 mins a eveery time. please post anytime. We are all hear to suppot each other.
Avatar n tn If you can fairly correctly estimate your dosage of insulin, based on what you eat, you should have less swings. Further a low carb diet (less carbs means less insulin means less chance of mistakes) may also help. Fat has no impact on blood sugar. Protein has less impact than carbs. The timing of dosing relative to when you eat can also make a big difference. This is called Prebolusing.
Avatar n tn Portion control is what most of us find works best. Veggie carbs and most fruit carbs are better for you than cake or candy. Meats are essentially no carbs. Potatoes and rice are OK but in very small servings. I eat one salad a day and avoid dressings high in carbs. If I am going to be more active than normal, I may replace the salad with something with a low carb count. Diabetics that use insulin and increase their activity level find that they use less insulin.
Avatar n tn Here is some information from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app on carbs. It gives a good starting amount for you to try, as recommended by the ADA. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Why-Carb-Counting-Matters/828 You can find this by going to the menu in the upper left corner of the home screen, choosing Health Guide, and exploring the Eat Right section.
