Avatar f tn I have never been a massive eater. I eat mainly junk food but my calorie intake was always constant. I am now 14weeks pregnant and finding it so difficult tto get even a measley 800 calories into my day and i know this isnt good for me or the growing baby. I am fusy with alot of foods eg chicken, fish and salads. Its also not helping that i have developed a slight fear of vomitting so i tend to avoid high carb based meals as they are really unpleasant on the way up sorry tmi!

Business woman1 Yes. Eat more 'healthy' and naturally occuring fats. For persons with diabetes, the optimal diet (for making blood sugar control easier) is one which is low in carbohydrates, moderate in protein (approx. 1g/kg body weight) and high in naturally occuring fats. Your diet should also be high in vegetables (limit starchy veges such as potato, corn, etc, and also not too much fruit, particularly tropical fruits, which are very sweet), which are important for good nutrition.
Avatar m tn It's good to see that you are willing to make necessary lifestyle changes to maintain your health. Kudos to you. Before I get into nutrition let me touch on a couple things you mentioned in your post. "My A1C on bayer homekit showed 4.8. Idk if I did it right." I am not aware of an "Idk" test result. Normal A1c readouts are presented in % [percent]. You also didn't mention which Bayer tester is being used.
Avatar m tn There is the Mozaffarian Group’s Study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2004 showing that as the intake of saturated fat increased in post-menopausal women, the progression of atherosclerosis actually reversed! Diet and 20-year Mortality in Two Rural Population Groups of Middle-Aged Men in Italy. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 1989. Avatar n tn My numbers were okay yesterday, but today they are very high. I have been well within the range of carb/sugar intake the dietician recommended. I have also exercised faithfully each day. I followed the no fruit/dairy at breakfast and dinner snack recommendation, as well. What else can I do to lower these numbers?
Avatar n tn My husband dropped a grill onto my 3 y/o, 5lb Maltese's head. He bled from the ears/nose & suffered many seizures. Since then, he's improved greatly and it's been 4 days since the accident. He does sleep a lot and is being controlled with medication for his seizures and an antibiotic. My concern revolves around nutrition and hydration.
1534233 tn?1523388856 asok - You are the perfect example that proper nutrition - paying careful attention to carb intake - and dropping excess pounds lowers glucose levels. I wish more people were like you.
969163 tn?1281105479 Fat is not what you want on an older inactive dog. Balance carb intake with protein and you will be better off. All dog foods are pretty well balanced in this regard off the shelf. However as soon as you add potatoes and cheerios you have ONLY added carbs that will cause her insulin levels to go up and store the carb energy as fat. I would try to find a high quality canned or dry food that is - in and of itself - balanced and will be properly digested.
Avatar f tn Use Google to understand the difference between simple and complex carbs. Pay attention to all nutrition labels and read them carefully. Carb sugars are listed in grams under carbohydrates. Every 7 grams equals one heaping tablespoon of table sugar. Use Google to learn about 'hidden sugars in foods'. Look for breads with no carbs and no sodium, usually made with whole grains like wheatberry. Commercial bakeries add lots of sugar to breads for added flavor...

Avatar n tn I eat between 2000 up to 3000 calories a day but those calories are coming from low carb food. My total carb intake is about 100 grams of carbs a day verses the normal 300 - 400 grams a day most people eat (no wonder they can't lose weight). I have actually lost a few pounds with out even trying.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you need a specialist that can help you with both carb counting and your insulin intake. Any changes in your insulin intake can take time to adjust. The fact that you are testing so much shows that you are trying to take care of your diabetes. Have you talked to your doctor about the highs and lows? Has your doctor talked to you about going to the pump? There are so many varibles that come into play here. I would suggest speaking to your doctor.
Avatar m tn Carb intake has a influence on IGF1 production. Evidence shows that carb intake should be minimized to one meal per day or immediately after an exercise session. It is important to maintain enough calorie intake and increase omega-3 fatty acids. Omega 3 not only enhances anabolic actions but it also assists in protecting against insulin resistance.
