Avatar n tn I eat breakfast 15 gram carbs, snack 15 grams carb, lunch 60 grams carb, snack 30 grams carb, dinner 60 grams carb, snack 15 grams carb. Its crazy. This is my first pregnancy.
Avatar m tn Good answer above. Carb intake sounds a little harsh. I was told to limit to 75-60 per meal.
Avatar f tn Hi, I would recommend you stop all sugar, breads, rices, fizzy drinks. Any carb intake should be done before 13:00. Excercise vigourously and you definitely see results. I have lost 9kgs in 4 weeks so far.
Avatar f tn I kept on the very low carb diet, eating mostly proteins - fish fish and more fish I started losing weight really fast. I was originally at 112 - 115 keeping my weight at that by eating a ton on carbs. As soon as I was diagnosed I cut out carbs and now my weight is at 92 - 95 pounds. I am very small boned and when I was younger I weighed between 90 & 95 pounds until I turn 40 something. My morning blood sugar fasting when I was first diagnosed at hardly ever below 135 in the morning.
Avatar f tn I can honestly say crash diets are not that great for long term weight loss. I have always been quite a large child, whilst all my siblings were rather tiny and I struggled so much with Weight but what I felt worked best was eating lots of protein and lean meats with lots of vegetables. I also found green tea with lemon and raspberry tea quite effective. It takes time but you'll get there.
1756367 tn?1400884364 s the recommended daily sugar intake (in grams and calories)? Does it differ by adult/children, female/male, weight/height/BMI, ethnicity, and also weight loss goals? I want to limit sugar intake in her daily diet, do you recommend a cold turkey approach to the recommended intake or a gradual decline approach? what are the likely symptoms one would have once "sugar detox" starts? Also, what's the difference between a low-carb diet and Atkins diet?
591470 tn?1218975186 I have been on a low carb diet sinse april and my weight loss has plateued at 124, which is fine. I eat 150-200 carbs a day. and am very active at work on my feet all day. My question is I recently started to los my hair. Now female baldness does not run in the family. What Vitamon or nutrient am I missing that would cause this? It has gown thin in it's strand size, and dry as well. what is missing from my diet?
10570408 tn?1412078257 I am sorry to hear that. Try and cut down on your intake of red meat and processed food as well. Replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables. If it still fails to get your weight shifting, try Liproxenol max. It was very effective for me.
Avatar n tn reduction in carb intake. The lower carb you can eat the more you can lose weight and lower insulin intake. Many people who eat low carb for diabetes advocate high fat. I personally don't think this makes sense, but it especially doesn't make sense if you want to lose weight so the less fat the more you can lose weight. So non-fat yogurt, milk, etc. And of course exercise is especially helpful in combatting the insulin resistance that makes it hard to lose weight.
Avatar n tn Its more likely to be the lack of sleep than the weight loss- but you could maybe get your blood sugars checked out- as early diabetes can cause the feelings you described... 13lb in 3 weeks is a lot to lose though - normally you would expect 3-5 the first week when your body gets rid of excess fluids and then 1-2lb a week so 9lb is the max you should really be seeing come off in the first 3 weeks. Are you eating a balanced diet and drinking enough fluid as you are exercising too.
Avatar m tn Cannot be controlled if you gain or maintain an above normal weight level. As diabetes86 stated, reduce your carb intake. This will help lower your blood sugar levels. For low carb meal planning go here for ideas http://www.atkins.com/Home.aspx . Start a written log of what you eat/drink and portion size, next to it your blood sugar levels. Test before you eat [preprandial] for a baseline measurement and then 2-3 hours after you finish your meal [postprandial].
Avatar f tn Most important is to control and manage your diabetes. Then limit your carbohydrate food intake for weight loss. Use Google to search and understand the difference between 'simple carbs and complex carbs'. Go to the Atkins web site for low carb information and recipes. Click on programs to get started. http://atkins.com/Homepage.aspx Pay careful attention to your breath, your body odor, or urine if any starts to have a fruity sweet smell.
443862 tn?1237999439 Also the less insulin you need the less chance of miscalculating and ending up high or low. Many people also now believe low carb is more effective for weight loss than low fat so it is all good! Also, obviously combining exercise with weight control makes it easier to lose and maintain weight loss as well as control blood sugar and therefore need less insulin, etc. It's all connected.
Avatar n tn I eat under 50gr of carbs a day. Reasonable or not depends on who you ask. We do know carbs are what your body turns to Blood Glucose (BG). Dont confuse the carb with the stuff its mixed with, vitamins, minerals. All those are available in other foods without the carbs.
Avatar f tn Your carb intake can also be effective with your weight gain.
Avatar f tn caregiver222's advice is logical. If for some reason you can't afford the test, try the Slow Carb Diet. The name is misleading, it should be called the Slow Carb Nutritional Program! You can stay on it for the rest of your life! If you own an iPhone - the apps are free online. You can order it online as a hardcover or an eBook. Basically, you can everything except for "White Carbohydrates" .... Bread, potatoes, fruits, rice & noodles - for example!
Avatar f tn I'd recommend against eliminating fat from your diet. There are lots of healthy fats out there from things like fish and nuts that reduce your cardiovascular risk. These fats do have calories, but research suggests that consuming more of these healthy fats will tend to keep people fuller for longer, and ultimately promote weight loss by limiting intake of high carb treats. I remember in the early 1990's when there was a big swing in favor of eating low/no fat cookies, candies etc.
793305 tn?1493925518 My belief is those things are worth trying but they are secondary to tried and true things such as weight loss, exercise and lowering carb intake. Check out the website I sent as they have a whole separate forum on diet and nutrition.
193609 tn?1292180293 When counting carbs for effective weight loss, 50 is about the max. This would involve eliminating all sugar and flour by-products, which is why it's such a difficult way to lose weight. But, it's worked for me.
6918143 tn?1386340447 PCOS and insulin resistance are actually 2 different conditions, though many wome with one, also have the other. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas and is used by the body for handling sugar/carb intake. Insulin is referred to as "the fat storage hormone". Any sugar or simple carbs taken in, will be shuttled to fat cells, if not used, quickly, for energy. With insulin resistance, the body doesn't use insulin effectively.
Avatar m tn Try lowering your carb intake slightly and incorporate some HIIT. Works like a charm to push through those plateaus. Good luck and well done so far!
Avatar f tn I lost from over 240 to low 160s by limiting carbs per meal to 60. It got to the point where I was concerned about the loss that I was considering posting here how to gain weight. What's your BMI. If It's less than 25, I would be happy.
988694 tn?1332359479 I also lose weight going on a low carb diet, but along comes hair loss and others symptoms...congrats!!
Avatar f tn I am by no stretch and expert in weight loss but I am seasoned veteran in struggling over weight loss. I used to drive myself nuts over a number on a scale and through much failure final realized that losing an inch is better than losing a pound. Muscle weighs more than fat and at the rate you are exercising it may be possible that the scale is not changing even though your body mass is becoming more muscular.
219363 tn?1189755821 Should not be a problem from a thyroid standpoint. The key to weight loss is long-term efforts -- would only do this kind of diet if you can eat this way long-term. It seems leaner than Atkins, but usually will be very difficult to maintain a diet that avoids starches entirely.
