Avatar m tn Gluten free foods are fine, but these may not help with weight loss. The carb counting would be an efficient way, though you could try discussing it with your treating endocrinologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
193609 tn?1292180293 When counting carbs for effective weight loss, 50 is about the max. This would involve eliminating all sugar and flour by-products, which is why it's such a difficult way to lose weight. But, it's worked for me.
Avatar n tn I eat breakfast 15 gram carbs, snack 15 grams carb, lunch 60 grams carb, snack 30 grams carb, dinner 60 grams carb, snack 15 grams carb. Its crazy. This is my first pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Stress can hinder weight loss. Also I've found counting calories so diligently can be a detriment. I would stop counting calories and just try to eat healthy. You don't have to have 80 ounces of water a day either. I would try and get 32 ounces from water and the rest from everywhere else. Also, though this is the natural weight loss forum, I might look into taking 5 htp (natural appetite suppressant/mood booster) along with a B vitamin supplement.
Avatar f tn I kept on the very low carb diet, eating mostly proteins - fish fish and more fish I started losing weight really fast. I was originally at 112 - 115 keeping my weight at that by eating a ton on carbs. As soon as I was diagnosed I cut out carbs and now my weight is at 92 - 95 pounds. I am very small boned and when I was younger I weighed between 90 & 95 pounds until I turn 40 something. My morning blood sugar fasting when I was first diagnosed at hardly ever below 135 in the morning.
Avatar f tn caregiver222's advice is logical. If for some reason you can't afford the test, try the Slow Carb Diet. The name is misleading, it should be called the Slow Carb Nutritional Program! You can stay on it for the rest of your life! If you own an iPhone - the apps are free online. You can order it online as a hardcover or an eBook. Basically, you can everything except for "White Carbohydrates" .... Bread, potatoes, fruits, rice & noodles - for example!
988694 tn?1332359479 I also lose weight going on a low carb diet, but along comes hair loss and others symptoms...congrats!!
Avatar f tn I don't recommend counting calories or specifically counting fat/carb grams. It's honestly just too hard to do, and I tend to think that it doesn't teach us anything. Much better to concentrate on small changes that you can live with. As you mention, losing weight may help not only with your general health, but also make you have reduced risk for heart disease, cancer, and...the list goes on! Take a sec and check out www.theflexdiet.
Avatar f tn s go in your Breast milk and you should be losing weight during breast feeding . Cut back Carb would be the best . Eat only 40 to 60 carb aday and you will be slim in no time. But remember your baby all was cames first.
Avatar f tn Hi Sammyg, Don't be discouraged with no weight loss in two weeks! Some people may lose 5-10 lbs immediately starting a new diet, but that is usually water weight and not true loss. I gained 25-30 lbs without diet change and while exercising a lot in 2015 and 2016. I lost 25 lbs in 2017 after realizing how much weight I had gained (and while having other hypo symptoms) by upping my exercise regime and counting every single calorie I ate for about a year.
Avatar m tn My doctor recently said i need to get my head around the carb counting a little better as the hba1c is high. Can anybody tell me the best way of putting back on weight??
Avatar f tn The diet is working absolutely perfect. Two pounds a week is a healthy level of weight loss and with doing that way you are more likely to keep it off.
Avatar f tn Each one of your meals should include a protein source, a fat source and low-carb vegetables. Working out is extremely important to losing weight quickly and keeping it off. It is best to do some sort of resistance training like weight lifting. If that is not an option, cardio workouts work too.
Avatar f tn I am by no stretch and expert in weight loss but I am seasoned veteran in struggling over weight loss. I used to drive myself nuts over a number on a scale and through much failure final realized that losing an inch is better than losing a pound. Muscle weighs more than fat and at the rate you are exercising it may be possible that the scale is not changing even though your body mass is becoming more muscular.
Avatar n tn I recently consulted with a weight loss doctor who prescribed a sensible diet (moderately low carb) and the medication Adipex. That combination was magic for me. The diet resulted in rapid weight loss, and the prescribed medication made it easier for me to follow the diet. I did have to follow up often with my physician, but the results are worth it!
Avatar f tn Hi, I would recommend you stop all sugar, breads, rices, fizzy drinks. Any carb intake should be done before 13:00. Excercise vigourously and you definitely see results. I have lost 9kgs in 4 weeks so far.
Avatar n tn http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Weight-Loss--Dieting/Weight-Loss-Challenge-2015/show/2421436 Along with your exercise bike and treadmill (iPod or MP3 player helps keep it from getting so boring), check out YouTube for a wide variety of exercises you can do all for free. There are a lot of dance exercises, walk in place with Leslie Sansome, yoga - all you have to do is google exercise videos and you can come up with all kinds of them that you can switch up your routine with.
1434731 tn?1382722384 I have PCOS and currently take Metformin, Provera (days 1-14 of each Month) I have Atypia Endometrial Hyperplasia (pre cancerous) My treatment plan is those drugs and weight loss. It is very important that I loose this weight because this pre cancerous condition is reversable!!!!!!!!!!!! I am just stuck in a rut and don't know what to do about it. I did low carb high protein diet 10 years ago and lost 56 lbs....I need to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Counting carbs can be done with radical protein diets such as Atkins, but the weight loss won't last. Remember that all vegetables are carbs, too. Different people require different diets. Avoiding grains, for example -- whole grains are actually fine, it's the simple carbs that are the problem. Permanent weight maintenance is more complicated than a fad diet. See a holistic nutritionist and figure out what suits you best -- might be a vegetarian diet high in grains.
Avatar f tn Is it better to eat a low Carb diet or a low calorie diet..Isn't stuck between the 2,I need to lose72 lbs..n I don't want it to take forever to lose it.I also expertise 6 days a week for 1 1/2 hrs.Just confused about the two. Also I'M on 3 medications that cause weight gain. And I'M wondering as long as I do overeat will I still gain weight from these meds. Thanks Brenda!!
Avatar f tn More can be lost through water weight with diuretics and crash dieting can also increase fat loss but only for a short time. When we lose fat too fast our metabolism will slow in order to conserve fat (fuel) deposits (starvation mode) and that creates new problems such a resetting the metabolic rate and fat gains during the plateau, etc.
Avatar n tn Low carb diets have been shown to be unhealthy long-term. Veggies are all carbs. Fruits are carbs. Complex carbs such as whole grains are the best source of long-term energy. Too much protein, especially animal protein, can cause kidney problems and is linked to a higher rate of cardiovascular disease.
