Avatar f tn The first diet you could try to help control your symptoms is a gluten free diet. A gluten free diet is a diet free of wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats. A gluten intolerance (which is when someone doesn't have the enzymes or not enough enzymes to break down the gluten in the above foods) can cause all of your above symptoms - PCOS, RA, hypoglycemia, etc. It's easy to look this up on the internet.
Avatar f tn At this time when I eat very little sugar, or higher carb cakes (I live gluten free life, but flours like white rice flour has high carbs, that I coud not avoid yet, but I'm working on it). So when I eat a self-baked gluten free biscuit with higher carb flours, I get this strange vibration. Like an earthquake inside me. What do you think, can this be a withdrawal symptom of sugar? I hope so, and just hope that it will go away when my body will adjust.
1401296 tn?1280799533 however, my feeling is that your body needs all of the food groups, so by cutting out carbs, you could be depriving your body of necessary nutrients, etc. If you do go on a carb free diet and lose weight, most likely, you will gain it back if you go off the plan. If you stick with the complex carbs - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc - and eliminate the simple carbs - such as sugar, white flour, regular pasta, etc, - you should do better. Of course, you still have to limit your portions.
Avatar f tn In a word... No... There are no scientific studies that show going gluten, dairy, sugar free, low carb, etc will lower your antibody count... While the antibodies may cause some inflammation/swelling of the thyroid, your main symptoms are actually the result of hypothyroidism, caused by reduced thyroid function, not from the antibodies themselves.
Avatar f tn if you eat a lot of fruits potatoes and starches can cause massive weight gain try a low carb diet and see if it works if you stick with it in that is your problem you will lose a 8 to 10 pounds within 2 weeks and if not then you might have a thyroid problem
Avatar m tn Barb, I was on low-carb diet for a long time, but recently I found out that for many people like me, eating a low-carb diet may weaken the thyroid or even cause hypothyroid. If you google "low carb diet and low thyroid", you will see that eating "safe" carbs like sweet potatoes or rice will help out your thyroid a lot. http://chriskresser.
Avatar f tn The South Beach program also has a low-carb version of their diet. In my opinion, both the paleo diet and the low-carb version of the South Beach diet are low-carb diets that are very healthy. Good luck.
1451080 tn?1438527660 I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have started a low carb diet. As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it would be really difficult to do that, what with everyone having different restrictions (low sodium, low carb, low sugar, sugar free, lactose intolerance, gluten free, etc.), allergies, taste preferences, cooking skills, and the like. Perhaps visiting with a nutritionist would benefit you, so your diet can be personally tailored to you and your needs. I'm sorry we can't be of more service.
Avatar n tn I personally eat a Ketogenic diet of 20g or less net carbs a day. Most of my diet comes from meat, cheese and non-starchy vegetables. The high levels of fat in my diet help keep me satiated and promotes weight loss. I also tend to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I eat gluten free and grain free.
Avatar n tn Hi Newtoit, I'm a volunteer here and I've had Type 1 diabetes for over 11 years. It must be a difficult and a bit confusing time for your family right now, dealing with your newly diagnosed diabetic child, but it's wonderful that in such a short time you have managed to gather a lot of vital information. Having diabetes or caring for someone who has it is an ongoing learning process. Just keep that in mind whenever you feel frustrated, because we all go through it.
Avatar m tn My question is would Weight Watchers be a good diet for me go follow or the carb counting one i am on now ? I just found out i have to eat gluten free foods also this is why i am confused on which diet i should follow i am use to the carb counting .
Avatar n tn I went low carb (carbohydrate) Diet that necessitates low grain.
Avatar f tn I have also switched to a low carb keto genic diet, I haven’t been completely carb free because I don’t want any issues with keto flu. (My dr suggested this diet). I have not lost any weight and I was really hoping I would, should I also take an adrenal supplement? I literally could lose 100lbs, it needs to start coming off... please help. I suspect I have been hypothyroid for the last ten years (when I started putting on weight for no reason).
Avatar f tn Eating protein and fiber rich diet or low carb diet. Protein help for preserving lean muscle mass and keep hunger in check. Take gluten free food items. You can also opt for meal replacement shakes like Optifast after consulting some weight loss specialist.
Avatar f tn My doctor did say that if I could not bring my glucose and A1C down, we would have to look at injectibles. He told me go very low carb or carb free diet. Which I am doing. I did feel hungry at first, the first few days. Now not so much, I hardly think about food. I was just wondering if after 2 weeks that is enough time to see some better results. I know it took time for me to get to this level.
988694 tn?1332359479 Hi, low carb diet works wonders for diabetics. I went on a low carb diet, lost approx 100 lbs ! which put my diabetic levels back into normal range. As for thyroid function, I never noticed any changes in my hormone labs, due to low carb diet.
Avatar m tn Low carb diet can affect thyroid levels. Did you also test for the actual thyroid levels along with TSH, If so please post those results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report. The thyroid levels will be more indicative of your status than TSH. Even though doctors like to believe that TSH is a very sensitive indicator of thyroid status, it does not correlate well with either thyroid hormone Free T4 or Free T3.
Avatar m tn I saw on an earlier post that a high protein low starch (anti-cancer) diet was recommended and Aleda Cheng indicated that she would post the diet if wanted. The person did not request the diet, but I would be very interested in the diet. Does anyone have any information on this diet? I know the prognosis for my dog is not good, so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
1230422 tn?1301923560 Does anyone know how to set up a carb exchange diet? I used to follow one but that was over 20 years ago. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Then I was also diagnosed w/glaucoma, where Laser surgery was performed. This past week I had my 3 month check-up now slight bleed in left. I seen a retinal specicialist and he told me that he would like my A1C 6.3-6.8. I told him it is very difficult for me to get a lower A-1 C and I was never at 6.3 only when I was first diagnosed.
Avatar n tn hi. i find it very very hard to lose weight.... despite exercise and diet..... my weight either remains the same or increases. eg. after working very hard in the gym and following a low-carb diet, i was able to lose only 3 kgs!! even my personal trainer and friends and family felt there's something not right. I recently got blood test done along with a USG scan. my thryroid seems to be fine and i do not have pcos. but my prolactin levels are high ie 31.5 ng/ ml.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn You deffinantly need some carbs but reduce how many you eat and see if that helps. Meats are carb free most cheeses some sugar free stuff is low in carbs but not always carb free. That is a big mistake sometimes people make thinking that just because its sugar free its ok but sometimes sugar free stuff is still loaded with carbs. Example i was going to buy peeps for her for easter they were sugar free but still loaded with 28 carbs.
