Avatar f tn In a word... No... There are no scientific studies that show going gluten, dairy, sugar free, low carb, etc will lower your antibody count... While the antibodies may cause some inflammation/swelling of the thyroid, your main symptoms are actually the result of hypothyroidism, caused by reduced thyroid function, not from the antibodies themselves.
Avatar f tn ll need to make some serious diet and exercise changes in order to prevent it from becoming full blown type II diabetes.
Avatar n tn hi. i find it very very hard to lose weight.... despite exercise and diet..... my weight either remains the same or increases. eg. after working very hard in the gym and following a low-carb diet, i was able to lose only 3 kgs!! even my personal trainer and friends and family felt there's something not right. I recently got blood test done along with a USG scan. my thryroid seems to be fine and i do not have pcos. but my prolactin levels are high ie 31.5 ng/ ml.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it would be really difficult to do that, what with everyone having different restrictions (low sodium, low carb, low sugar, sugar free, lactose intolerance, gluten free, etc.), allergies, taste preferences, cooking skills, and the like. Perhaps visiting with a nutritionist would benefit you, so your diet can be personally tailored to you and your needs. I'm sorry we can't be of more service.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn You deffinantly need some carbs but reduce how many you eat and see if that helps. Meats are carb free most cheeses some sugar free stuff is low in carbs but not always carb free. That is a big mistake sometimes people make thinking that just because its sugar free its ok but sometimes sugar free stuff is still loaded with carbs. Example i was going to buy peeps for her for easter they were sugar free but still loaded with 28 carbs.
988694 tn?1332359479 Hi, low carb diet works wonders for diabetics. I went on a low carb diet, lost approx 100 lbs ! which put my diabetic levels back into normal range. As for thyroid function, I never noticed any changes in my hormone labs, due to low carb diet.
Avatar f tn Eating protein and fiber rich diet or low carb diet. Protein help for preserving lean muscle mass and keep hunger in check. Take gluten free food items. You can also opt for meal replacement shakes like Optifast after consulting some weight loss specialist.
1451080 tn?1438527660 I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have started a low carb diet. As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
5890854 tn?1377264632 I HAD SO MUCH ENERGY AND WAS NEVER HUNGRY BC YOU CAN EAT WHATEVER N THE HELL YOU WANT EXCEPT CARBS. IF YOU SWING BY THE ATKINS WEBSITE YOU CAN GET A FREE CARB COUNTER AND DIET PLAN... IT'S SUPER EASY AND THE WEIGHT JUST MELTS OFF. Avatar f tn Implementing a healthy diet and exercise program should bring some results, even if small ones, at first. Every ounce/pound lost, is motivation to keep trying to lose another ounce/pound. If you're not eating too much and are getting adequate exercise, I strongly urge you to see your doctor and get checked for some medical issues that can really make losing hard, but once diagnosed can be easy to treat.
1330395 tn?1275233710 re working on a calorie-restricted diet or zone/low carb diet, you can make allowances in your intake to include a mid-evening snack. For me, I allow 100 extra calories in my intake so that at about 8pm I have something satisfying that kills cravings, like a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and a double handful of blueberries. The small fat content in the cheese, and modest protein content, prevents me from coming back an hour later to empty the fridge.
1301482 tn?1325722991 Who has done a low carb diet that worked well? Can you give me any tips for low carb snacks/meals?
Avatar f tn Eat less calories than you burn. Have protein rich diet and low carb diet. Protein is important for optimal fat burning rate. It help to control hunger and make you feel full for longer. Avoid soda, dietry fat and sugar.
1533382 tn?1357962152 So I have this darned gestational diabetes and I'm on the diet and exercise plan without medication and I've posted about it before how I constantly feel like I'm starving due to the restrictions on what I can/can't eat. Well at 36+2 I'm having cravings that are super bad! I've had them the last month and a half and never over indulged but now I'm craving everything I can't have and I just don't know how to deal with it anymore!
Monkey Absolutely! Any exercise where your heart rate rises over 100 will be beneficial. Try to keep you heart rate elevated for at least 30 minutes 3-5 times peer week. Please consult your physician if you have any chronic medical problems. You will find that by dropping your calories to under 1800 calories per day you will be more successful at your weight loss. For most people they need to walk 35 miles to lose 1 lb of fat--possibly shorter for bike riding but not by much.

Avatar f tn The South Beach program also has a low-carb version of their diet. In my opinion, both the paleo diet and the low-carb version of the South Beach diet are low-carb diets that are very healthy. Good luck.
Avatar f tn The paleo diet is the healthiest form of low-carb diet, IMO. I would not go on a low-carb diet that was composed of low-carb junk food. If you eat a paleo diet, you are only eating real, whole foods (no junk food) and no grains. It's a lot of meat, vegetables, and healthy fats.
Tbd Well, unless you take drastic lifestyle steps to change the dynamics that led you to being on the medication in the first place, it is what it is. This includes changing your diet, losing and maintaining an ideal weight and exercise. Are you doing those things? More power to you if you are! Unfortunately, that is where a lot of people fail in controlling diabetes. Uncontrolled diabetes is dangerous so you will want to control is 'somehow'.
