1171232 tn?1263369500 I was told that eating peppermint or drinking peppermint tea will lower my blood pressure. I also heard that taking garlic supplements will also help lower blood pressure. Are these truths or fiction?
Avatar m tn low carb or low fat for fat loss? i have heard so many conflicting opinions...
594189 tn?1386916607 Lori, I read on a low carb diet you should not go below 20 carbs a day....so therefor I think you may be going to low for your body. On low carb diet, it normally is anywhere from 20-50 carbs a day, or depending on your daily actitivy. If you burn more of what you eat, then generaly you would eat more. Check out this link (if you can't see it, I'll pm you in a message then). It gives you a better idea to a low carb diet and tells you what to eat and what not to eat.
Avatar f tn My doctor did say that if I could not bring my glucose and A1C down, we would have to look at injectibles. He told me go very low carb or carb free diet. Which I am doing. I did feel hungry at first, the first few days. Now not so much, I hardly think about food. I was just wondering if after 2 weeks that is enough time to see some better results. I know it took time for me to get to this level.
Avatar f tn ve sort of put this down to the fact that I had roughly this amount before I went to bed. I tend to drink alot of green tea and black tea sometimes too, usually one big mug before bed. Yesterday I drank 2.5 in the late eveving. However I did empty my bladder before bed but obviously it takes a while for it to be processed as urine? Reason I say all this, I realise that nocturia is a symptom for diabetes.
Avatar n tn I am in the process of weaning myself slowly off of beta blocker-altenolol, was only taking it for 2 weeks. Among the comments there was a mention of a tea that might lower blood pressure--what is it?
1301482 tn?1325722991 Who has done a low carb diet that worked well? Can you give me any tips for low carb snacks/meals?
Avatar n tn I have type 2. My A1C is 5.9. Is honey off limits? I bought some green Arizona tea but has a small amount of honey in it.
Avatar f tn My question is this, can you drink sleepytime tea or the sleepytime ension tamer tea while on toprol.. I know the tea does not contain caffeine but Im not sure of the herbs and the last thing I want to do is drink something that will interfere with my beta blocker.. Any suggestions/advice you have will be greatly appreciated.
5536886 tn?1455827346 What are some changes you have made since finding out you are pregnant? I had gestation diabetes with one of my kids, so I always go back to a low carb diet when I find out I'm expecting. I also give up caffeine too. Those are the biggest adjustments I make, so it's not too bad- but sometimes I do miss having a good Chi tea! How about you, what adjustments have you made so far?
Avatar f tn Today I was told to take an acid blocker by the Dr. What a relief! That was the problem I think. What have you ladies used that helped?
Avatar n tn I had one Vada and two Idlys and a Upma in the breakfast, without tea or coffee. The Doctor changed my course of medication. She added two new drugs, viz Dapagliflozin 10 mg, and Rosuvastatin 10 mg.
Avatar f tn So far yesterday his readings were fine, up until tea time today he was fine also then at the last reading it was 6.9 before tea. So going by the readings they gave us as a guideline this is just in the normal range, but only just. Have to email the diabetes team tomorrow morning with all the readings so far to get the next plan. They are keeping a very close eye on him which is great but the not knowing one way or the other 100% is awful!
637356 tn?1301924822 I assume your medication is a beta blocker, and the body does have to adjust to taking and stopping. If you stopped "cold turkey" that may cause some problems, and I'm surprised your doctor wasn't willing to give you a small dose allocation to hold you until you can get/afford an appointment. That said, it is my guess that the tiredness will pass, but the high HR is a concern.
Avatar f tn Low carb diet will help her lose weight. It will also reduce her insulin requirements (so she needs to monitor carefully). There are many online links (you will need to search as I'm not allowed to post links here) if you google low carb and diabetes management. For an excellent book look for "diabetes solutions" by Dr. Richard Bernstein. I found that book revolutionised how I think about diabetes and how I manage it for myself (all for the better).
Avatar m tn My main question is how low can your heart rate get and still be safe? I'm afraid to take a beta block for my hypertension because my hr at night gets as low as 55 without them. I'm 24 years old I have hypertension, I'm active/normal weight I also have LVH from my hypertension. Would it be safe for me to take this beta blocker bystolic My doctor has prescribed me? He said it wouldn't lower it much but from the posts I've seen they do. Thoughts?
5623242 tn?1371127079 30 ish then a granery sandwich with rocket and low fat cheese or ham and low fat yoghurt for luch around 12.
268356 tn?1236002604 boost. it works WONDERS!!! that and green tea. i was having the same fatigued feeling and not being able to even move after 11 am because i'd be so tired. my ob said that boost is a really good nutirtional drink that has that extra energy boosting nutrients in it. i've been drinking it for almost 3 weeks now (one every morning) and i'm good all day and at bed time (usually around 9-10 pm) i'm ready to go to sleep.
1298588 tn?1330318981 The only way I was able to tell that caffeine was actually making it worse is that I stopped for a week (except for tea) and then I had a soda. I felt awful! My heart was racing more than usual, and I was really jittery, like shaky hands. Another one of my triggers is sugar (I think). I bought some caffeine free orange soda, and after one glass I felt the same jitters and shakiness and increased HR as I did with the caffeine, then I looked at the bottle and it had 50 g of sugar.
Avatar f tn Look into a diet for yeast control and brush your tongue with baking soda very gently. Use a tea tree mouthwash. Stop eating sugar and eat organic vegetables, healthy fats like REAL olive oil and REAL organic butter. No soda, no fast food, no high-carb junk foods. There are many ways to control yeast without going on an antifungal medication, which can harm your liver.
Avatar f tn I agree with Michelle it wouldn't hurt to get checked out. That said, even decaffinated tea, sometimes herbal tea, depending on what's in it, will increase my heart rate. Sounds like adrenaline might be playing a part here too, with it happening before performances. I just had an irregular beat episode playing fast at a music group. A beta blocker will slow my heart down, but I mostly have to avoid any caffeine. Good luck.
Avatar f tn s (like 300)we have him drink alot of water or diet green tea. If he is like 300 and he drinks the diet green tea or water,(like 4 bottles in an hour or so) his b/s #'s start dropping rapidly. Like he could be 300 at 3pm and drink the water or green tea and by 4pm 268 and by 4:30pm 186 and by 5:30 138. Then at 5:30 we will have supper and he will eat carbs and have insulin ratio to carb. Then at 9pm he will be 100. About a month ago this same thing happend and at 1 AM he had a seizure.
