Avatar f tn Just that i have an elavated heart rate and trivial heart leak which they have given me a beta blocker for. I have a good diet, eat as healthy as i can and excerise etc. The doctors have just given up on me really which is frustrating because its affecting my work etc. A lot of these symptoms iv'e had since I was about 9 so really want to get this sorted!
Avatar f tn I took the glucose screening test on last Friday (6/10) and got a call from my OB's office that my number is 168 and so, the doctor wants me to undertake a glucose tolerance test as soon as possible. They said that the number above 140 is considered high and so, recommend the second test. My number for the first test with my first daughter was high also but when I went for a second test, I was considered fine.
Avatar f tn Do you think Australia will eventually use rapid hiv tests to combat the hiv rates in Australia. I know Australia has great resources but read that they have not implemented point of care rapid tests.
Avatar f tn Try bi carb soda in a bath, or oats work well to.

Avatar f tn There's a 3 day high carb test where you eat healthy but have extra servings of carbs (e.g. a meal could be wholemeal pancakes and yoghurt and fruit for breakfast or brown rice stirfry with a glass of orange juice for dinner - they give you guidelines)... It's meant to be far more accurate than the glucose test and not as much of an assault on your system. Many hospitals here (Australia) do this as their routine test, but lots still use the old system.
Avatar f tn Obese adults followed one of the two diets for two years. Those on the low-carb diet had significantly higher cravings for carbohydrates and high-fat foods, although they were less bothered by hunger.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar m tn t know what Dilatrend is--it may be diltiazem. You might ask the doctor about a beta blocker such as carvedilol--which has been shown to improve the left ventricular function. The better the LV function the better the prognosis.
Avatar f tn This is a common compaint with (at least) Metoprolol. It's the only one I've ever taken, so I can't compare. I gained almost 45 pounds which pushed my blood sugar into the danger zone, which I'm now on a diet to lose before I have to go on Metformin for that. I have 90 days to show an improvement. My recommendation to you would be to cut nearly all carbs from your diet. I restrict myself to less than 50 a day. That, and walk. I lost 5 pounds in my frst week on this regime.
1004097 tn?1251117610 2 mg eltroxin daily one in the morning and one at around mid day For the hypertension i take 1 forzacer at night The reason i ask this is because the beta blocker seams to slow the body down and the eltroxin should speed things up?

Avatar n tn Statistically it is extremely unlikely your parter had HIV, which remains rare in western countries (including Australia) in heterosexuals without special risk factors; HIV is never transmitted by kissing or oral contact anywhere on the body, including (usually) oral-genital contact; HIV cannot be transmitted through clothing. HIV is harder to transmit than many people realize, and with rare exceptions, if a bare penis is not inserted into a vagina or anus, there no risk of transmission.
Avatar n tn I have been told that eating a very low carb meal for supper is the best way to achieve a consistent night - but I have found that even plain garden salads do little to check my rise. HOWEVER, last week I travelled to the UK for a conference and for the entire week I had healthy sugar levels. My bedtime, midnight, 3am and morning levels were nearly all the same (90 - 126)..... I am so confused!
Avatar f tn I had doctors tell me the same thing but I can definitely say that my PVCs and PACS were made worse by hormones. When I became perimenopausal my symptoms became much worse. I am now in menopause and they haven't gotten any better. I am taking a beta blocker, bystolic, which has helped calm them down. You may want to ask your cardiologist if you could try one. And I'm sure you know, the more you stress and worry about them the worse they get.
Avatar m tn I am an American, but I got Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella while on vacation in QD, Australia 8 years ago. Aussie Lyme is especially miserable. It's almost always Neuroborreliosis, with few cases of arthritis reported. It usually has a different presentation (collection of symptoms) than European or American Lyme, which is probably why my doctors didn't think of Lyme when I got sick. I've never had any joint issues and luckily, no muscle pain either.
1451080 tn?1438527660 As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar f tn It happened again last night, and the only explanation I have for it is a very heavily carb-laden meal late in the evening. A couple of weeks ago, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I think eating a very large pomegranate late in the evening caused it. Same MO...heart rate upper 80s/lower 90s sustained for hours.
Avatar n tn Hi - 49yo male in otherwise good health, had an mi and placement of 3 stents in RCA. Was told that there was no damage to my heart, and have returned to all activity including hi-intensity workouts (which I was doing pre-mi). I've put on about 30 "pity-pounds" (from 185 to 215) and despite increase in exercise and near-saintly eating habits, having a hard time losing. I suspect that Toprol is causing this problem.
