Avatar f tn We do know that carbohydrates raise BG (blood sugar) ALL carbs raise BG AND most people are most carb sensitive in the morning so...
Tbd It usually involves cutting all added sugars, grains, sweet fruits and starchy veges. Low carb is defined as less than 100g of carbs per day. Very low carb is 25 - 50 g of carb per day. When you cut carbs you still energy so you get this from increasing your fat intake and making sure you have enough protein. Enough protein can be at least 100g for a woman and probably about 120g for a man. You can use a diet tracker to work out which foods have how much carbs, protein, and fats.
Avatar n tn Miss Sassy, That's a great question and one I urge you to talk over frankly with your doc. My guess is that there's a lotta frustration behind it. I'm not a physician, but I'm highly skeptical of all the seemingly "magic" pills that claim to help folks lose weight, or maintain good blood sugars. What I'm skeptical about is that it seems to me that each of us has to work hard, thru lifestyle changes, ways of eating, increasing our physical activity ...
Avatar m tn with at home or natural therapy. Natural is great but gestational diabetes needs treatment if not controlled through diet.
Avatar f tn if you go all the way to the end of her article you will find her list on NO carb and Low carb commercial foods... http://www.catinfo.org/?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response. I'm not familiar with a lot of the information you shared with me, however, I will definitely look into it. I have heard of the paleo diet. I have also been under tremendous stress this past year and I don't really see an end to it any time soon. My doctor continues to tell me to eat high fiber but I find the more fiber I eat, the more problems I seem to have. I do better with low fat, low fiber, and sort of a bland diet.
Avatar f tn Vitamin b6 and c! Ovulation tests too!
Avatar n tn I'm interested in hearing experiences or thoughts about how to wean off calcium channel blocker, and replace with natural alternatives. Please don't share any 'don't wean off them' type of advice... that isn't my question! I'm utterly convinced the particular strong ca-channel blocker in question has contributed massively to heart failure.
7267830 tn?1391994730 What are the best natural things to help with pcos and has anything worked for anyone.. I feel so alone on this one n wish I could just fall pregnant like most ppl..
Tbd To further reduce blood sugars, my first recommendation would be to look at your diet. Particularly consider eating low carb, and certainly avoiding added sugars. Some people, including me find that a ketogenic diet (focusing on very low carb, moderate protein, and unprocessed natural fats) is helpful for blood sugar. Aside from exercise, which you are already doing, weight loss, if you are overweight can help in lowering blood sugars.
1451080 tn?1438527660 As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar m tn To help answer your question, your first step is to understand the Glycemic Index (GI) of foods. By understanding the GI it will help you get better control of your diabetes. Go to this FAQ page for an explanation of GI, then click the button "Compare your diet" for chart comparisons of various types of foods. http://www.lowglycemicdiet.com/lowglycemicdietfaqs.html Other related GI links http://tinyurl.
Avatar m tn you have the typical pattern of a high-carb intake, perhaps especially sugar. High triglycerides can suppress HDL, and are associated with high VLDL. Also, high carb and low fat is what causes the preponderance of small dense LDL. The wine might help raise HDL a little bit, but will raise triglycerides even more. I'd ditch it, even though moderate alcohol is generally cardioprotective for most others.
Avatar f tn That what is until I started using stevia in my diet. Stevia is an all natural sugar substitute which comes from a plant in South America. There are some studies out there( although the studies are limited) that shows Stevia has an effect on blood sugar in a positive way. I started using stevia for about 3 days now. For 2 days already my blood sugar fasting levels in the morning dropped to 94 and 95. Does stevia have anything to do with it?
Avatar f tn t eat as much. Also cut down on your carb intake and increase your veggies and fruits. Veggies and fruits are mostly water, so you shouldn't retain a lot of calories from those. Also don't succumb to ridiculous cravings, those don't help lol if you do get a craving for something it's usually cause you're missing that nutrient of vitamin, so try and find an equivalent option that's healthier.
Avatar f tn i get them on a daily base and are very very frequent--- every couple seconds i notice a skipped heart beat . its very very frightning. im on a beta blocker but it seems they are just getting worse ! are pvc's suppose to happen every 30 seconds? this is confusing me. and at the same time scaring me to death ! please help me!
Avatar m tn Good luck with any of them.. I've been getting numerous tests done for the past half a year and they all keep coming out clean even though I am sure I have candida. Been reading it doesn't show up well in tests, and western practice doctors aren't even trained to acknowledge it as a condition unless it's a vaginal yeast infection or oral thrush where there are visual signs. I'd try the natural route if you suspect you have candida.
1756367 tn?1400884364 The Atkins diet is just one example of a low carb diet. It is perhaps the best known because it is the first low carb diet that caused a media sensation in the 1970s and 80s. Against popular medical advice that stated that we should cut fats and proteins, Atkins advocated a diet rich with proteins and fats and very few carbs. There are now many other popular low carb diets available - many are very similar to Atkins.
Avatar f tn Keep up your efforts for healthy eating. Particularly focus on eating lower carb foods / veges / meats / nuts etc. Lower carb / higher fat diet is now being shown to be more effective and sustainable for many people with diabetes than the traditional higher carb approach. If you are looking for information on this you could look at the maintenanbce phase of the Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet (this is mediteranean style eating - but without the bread and pasta), or Diabetes Solutions - Dr.
Avatar m tn I did low carb diet since 2 months ago and have lost at least 12lbs with average blood glucose 80-90mg/dl and post meals (2hours) below 120mg/dl. However, my urination is still frequent. Can frequency urination become an indicator of our actual glucose level?
973741 tn?1342342773 It is best to address this entire situation from childhood; by developing eating habits (sticking to natural unprocessed foods and avoid sweets, sodas, processed foods) that support health, and by adopting regular vigorous physical activity to keep the body working optimally and optimally sensitive to insulin. Weight should be kept to optimal level (helped by diet and exercise). The old idea is that diabetes is progressive and irreversible.
