808425 tn?1371092328 Since I am still feeling so tired maybe it will help if I actually swallow the armour with food. I am willing to try anything. I take 25mcg Levo, so I will continue to take that an hour before, but then take the armour after I get up and have something light. Sublingually caused hyper effects for me, mainly it causes heart flutters.I am so glad for these boards!
Avatar n tn now i,ve got 772 antibodies fighting my thyroid. what r the extra supplements i can take to fight them off??? my dr. has me on 400mg. of selenium and b vitamins plus i,m taking sythroid at 125mg. please let me no thanks jkh.
Avatar f tn I have Hosimoto's and I've taken Armour Thyroid since 2000 and will never take anything else. Armour Thyroid is all natural - not synthetic. The doctor who first put me on it only prescribed Armour. He didn't like the long term affects that could be caused by taking synthetics. I had surgery in 2002 and 2/3'ds of my thyroid removed. The surgeon wanted to take me off Armour and put me on Synthroid but I wouldn't let him.
Avatar f tn I am new to thyroid problems, and it looks like I will be having to have my thyroid removed. I am just wondering if after it is removed, can you take Armour instead of the synthetic drugs that are prescribed? Thank You!
Avatar f tn m pretty sure I did not take my thyroid med with the draw that had the low TSH. I always have to remember that. With the iron, if I take it daily, my hemoglobin or iron in the blood is very, very high. I'm not sure if that is OK or not, but one time a doctor said it was way too high. If I take it every other day, I maintain a good dose of daily iron, but my body for some reason is not storing it well. Unfortunately, Vitamin C does a number on my reflux.
Avatar m tn Thanks Barb. That is really helpful advice since I take Armour Thyroid and need to take Vitamin D as well since my levels are low especially in the winter.
410801 tn?1220119445 thank you all for your comments. i believe you are right Stella, i felt like once i started to take the pill, i should be fixed. now i start to realize this is more complecated than i thought. i read that a lot of people felt much better after they switched to armour. any opinion? why doctors wouldn't put us on that at the first place, if it's indeed a better solution?
Avatar f tn Hello! Hoping someone can help me with some advice...I am hypo with 2 lesions shown on scan, one fluid filled cyst, one calcified. I had a Ross procedure heart valve repair in 01, which means because I used my own pulmonary and a donor valve, I have to take no medications for this, like coumadin. Everything is fine from that standpoint. However, all this cropped up with my Thyroid 6 months ago, with the calcified nodule just being found last week.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is okay to take homeopathic OTC drugs while taking Armour? I am not talking about homeopathic to aide in Thyroid function, but for other reasons, like anxiety, cough, headache or whatever the problem may be at the the time. I just bought some "nerve tonic" for my PMS. Are there any herbs or homeopathic remedies I need to stay away from while on Armour Thyroid?
4065534 tn?1400548736 And do you do on empty stomach or with food? Because oddly enough I am noticing i feel better when I take my Armour with food.
Avatar m tn Take Armour with food? No.................Never take Armour with food. It is to be taken on an empty stomach. If taken with food, T3 will dominate over T4 too much in your body. What reason did you hear/read that supports the statement "Armour is better with food"?
Avatar f tn t take your Armour dose prier to your labs. I always try and get the earlyist apt. in the morning, and after I get my labs done, then I take my morning dose. Also are you divideing your meds up? your on 30mg do you take 15mg in the morning and 15mg in the afternoon? it really helped me to do that, otherwise I would be real hyper in the early part of the day and exhausted in the latter part of the day.
Avatar n tn I would like to know is there any food that I need to avoid since I have thyroid cancer? This discussion is related to Food & Medicine intake.
1646889 tn?1301481228 30 PM, 30mg I use the Erfa brand and can take sublingually if I need to if I snacked to close to dosing. Erfa is the same potency taken either way. Armour since reformulation in '09 is not as potent taken sublingualy as swallowed.
Avatar f tn When finances were better I started taking thyroid again but by this time the world had switched to synthetics and the health food store variety had seemed to work better. At some point I requested a change to Armour Thyroid which was accomplished and I felt better. I picked up my new prescription yesterday and it was not Armour Thyroid it was something called NP Thyroid. I hate that changes are made without even talking to me about it. I don't know whether to object or try it.
Avatar f tn Can I take armour thyroid with food or must it be taken with an empty stomach? What would be the determining factor for prescribing armour thyroid vs synthroid (and maybe cytomel)? I appreciate your help very much. It seems like it has taken forever to get the right dosage and help.
Avatar f tn m wondering if I should take two different meds, one Armour (with T3) and another like Levoxyl (w/o T3); maybe 30 mg of Armour and a small amount of Levoxyl to bring TSH down. Unfortunately, Armour only comes in 30/60/90 mg. Hard to manipulate. I'm just wondering if there is an undercurrent condition that just would mess with the thyroid.
751197 tn?1270314156 I was diagnosed a week ago with hypothyroidism and have only been on the Armour Thyroid since this past Wednesday, so I'm new to this. For the last couple of days, I've been taking it sublingually rather than swallowing. I just read an article entitled "Should You Take Your Thyroid Hormone With Food vs. An Empty Stomach?" by Mary Shomon (Google to find it, since external links are apparently prohibited here).
