Avatar n tn Google it. There are several sites that just give drug label info. Wikipedia is a good starting point, as it usually is linked to the other label sites. Look for lines within the label info that refer to liver or hepatic. If there is any knowledge that a drug can harm the liver it will be on the label. You can easily come across a line on some drug labels that warns about treating patients with "hepatic impairment" (means liver damage).

Avatar n tn but - unlike the renal system, which appears to be damaged at a separate rate from the liver, and can become damaged by hepc before damage to the liver is apparent, damage to the brain by hepc appears to be via the liver. so if you have cirrhosis of the liver, that can damage your brain, which would be an end result of hepc.
997730 tn?1254278376 s also true that many drugs, including antibiotics, cause liver toxicity, but I do think there are antibiotics that are more and less hard on the liver. You do likely need to take a full course to keep the infected boil from getting worse -- but at least call the doc and talk to her. FOUR more weeks! You practically have it in the bag! Just focus on the end being so near, you can do it!

Avatar f tn Hi Brianne, You are right that drinking a lot of alcohol over a long period of time can cause permanent liver damage, but I am really glad to hear that you have significantly changed your drinking habits and your diet. Chronic alcohol use causes the liver can become inflamed and infiltrated with fat, and if continued, ultimately lead to cirrhosis (scarring of the liver).

Avatar f tn A high SGPT could indicate liver damage which may have been effects from the anesthetics...(?). But if you say the medications are bringing this down, then that is positive. The vomiting type you describe sounds very much like the kind from an intestinal blockage, and possibly with some bleeding involved (?) Yet you say endoscopy and X rays say all is well....

Avatar f tn Have been to the urologist for the exams, antibiotics, and the fact is bacteria is never found. I do wonder how much damage I have done to myself due to antibiotics I probably never needed. Now pain is back very strong in groin or testicle (can't even really tell where it comes from). Urologist found nothing remarkable. I am under a lot of stress and it is now seeming to me that this could be yet another manifestation of my old friend anxiety! Anybody else have the same experience?
16045532 tn?1445055795 Hey Regarding your initial question the answer would be Yes, stress can cause stomach problems. Stress can have a great effect on how our body system works ultimately it can weaken our immune system which makes us prone of acquiring certain illnesses. Another possible cause is a broken rib. You said that you've done test on your gallbladder, kidney, and liver and it all turn out to be okay. Then why not have your ribs checked. A cracked rib can do a lot of damage on the stomach.
Avatar m tn At the clinic, they warned me that isoniazid is processed mainly by the liver and that drinking alcohol could cause liver damage in combination and should be avoided. I have no problem not drinking, but I take norco on a regular basis for chronic pain and I'm concerned that the acetaminophen in the norco's will combine with the isoniazid and cause severe liver damage. Thus, as of yet I havent begun taking the antibiotics.
