Does the gastritis itself cause bloating, or high levels of acid which cause gastritis(Im trying to understand if what caused the gastritis is still there since I dont know what that is). I was given cipro 500 mg twice a day for a sinus infection. After completing the prescription, I still had a sinus infection and ended up in the ER with an upper respiratory tract infection and gastritis. I now have an equilibrium problem to go along with the upper respiratory infection and the gastritis. I don't know what to do st this point. Too afraid to take anything. I was reading around the web, but you know, now a days the web could make anything be anything else. You can pretty much input symptoms and you can have 20,000 other things.
So what I found to be some "sound" information was that some people do get ulcers and gastritis from using Doxycycline. Now there is a study published on Doxycycline and ulceration, which has three cases studies.
The antibiotics in the Prevpak can cause heartburn as well. I would still suggest giving it a bit more time...

It can take awhile to get rid of H Pylori. I've read that taking vitamin C, cranberry supplements and Zinc can really help along with the antibiotics.
I'm a little surprised your Dr doesn't have you on two antibiotics.
Alcohol, NSAIDs, Helicobacter Pylori, Autoimmune Disorder.
The only one that makes sense for my case is Helicobacter Pylori. (Unless Autoimmune Disorder is somehow related to food allergies.)
Pylori is a bacteria that is resistant to stomach acid.
Taking Prilosec would only make it even more hard to kill.
Therefore, antibiotics would be necessary to kill the bacteria.
(I don't even know WHY I am taking Prilosec. What is it supposed to accomplish?

After badgering the GP for months, she finally tested her for H.Pylori which came back positive. She did a course of antibiotics to kill the bacteria. In the meantime she changed GPs and was also sent to an endoscopy. The results said she has chronic gastritis, hiatal hernia and GERD. Her only symptom so far was nausea so she was surprised to hear about other problems.
