Avatar f tn The antibiotics in the Prevpak can cause heartburn as well. I would still suggest giving it a bit more time...
1307217 tn?1282324189 Hi...antibiotics can cause heartburn and acid reflux in that they kill off all bacteria...unfortunately we need good bacteria to help us digest our food. SO it feels like u may have too much acid, when in fact u may not have enuff right now. Ask ur dr about a pro biotic to help with the stomach issues. R u sure it is ur tonsils giving u the throat pain....mayb they have to come out?.....
Avatar m tn something has triggered it like the H-pylori and by not taking the antibiotics for them; it just got worse but the antibiotics will still kill the infection, you just might need a double dose. other things can trigger IBS. Most common triggers have to deal with alergies and intolorence to certain foods, spices or perservatives in the food.

Seven months ago I got h. Avatar m tn I have a burning and uncomfortable feeling on my upper part of my chest and coughing for two months now. it started as a heartburn and I was given antacids and antibiotics. but the burning sensation and coughing is still there. What can help me?
Avatar f tn It started with really painful heartburn mainly as night, I would wake up in the middle of the night with chest pain from the heartburn then end up suffering a panic attack as I thought something was seriously wrong. I went to my gp who suggested my heartburn can be made worse by stress and that stress can make heartburn worse.
Avatar m tn It does not matter what i eat, it generally does not digest well and if i eat anything spicy it burns really bad the next day at the site of my anus, usually for the entire day. I have kind of a heartburn feeling most of the time and my stomach feels upset some of the times. Ive done research on my own to find that i could have UC, but also the same type of problems I am having are suggesting Crohn's.
Avatar f tn Prior to my diagnosis I had been getting acid reflux a good bit. It started about 6 months before I was diagnosed. I am now taking two antibiotics, prilosec, and a probiotic. My question is why do I still have Australians occasional heartburn. I still have 6 days left of treatment. Anybody want to offer any thoughts?Thank you.
Avatar m tn Thanks for posting, funky. Sometimes even GERD or sour stomach or reflux and heartburn can cause a cough. - I cough, too even though I had a surgery (fundiplication) to help my reflux/GERD. Yeah, I guess doctors can't fix everything. I'm going to try the licorice. Can't hurt.
Avatar f tn I went to my doctor, to get the test results to my stool sample. They found candida in my stool. My doctor had never heard of this before. He told me to drink apple cider and prescribed me Prilosec. I don't have heartburn. I have had abdominal cramps for a few months and this is the first positive test result I've received.
Avatar f tn I've coughed, lightly, for 3 months now. I have experienced heartburn with which over the counter meds helped. But I have a tickle in my throat throughout most of the day, and I also experience random chestpain that's more like sharp and/or a soreness in the chest. Sometimes it can be provoked by bending forward or taking a deep breath. I've been on pantoprazol for 3 weeks and antibiotics for 2 weeks (GP's prescription), no change.
Avatar n tn A couple days ago I had really horrible heartburn, I took some alka-seltzer for it and it eventually went away but even after it went away I've had a really bad stomach ache remaining and after anything I eat i feel nauseous and have thrown up a couple times as well. Can anyone tell me what it may be that i have or how i can treat it?
Avatar f tn The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have. Hope you get relief soon!
Avatar m tn The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her. Now she has heartburn almost everyday, at first the doctor gave her pantoprazole that didn't work and now she takes omeprazole, but after eating she still has heartburn almost everyday. She eats everything above ph5, which doesn't contain acid. I advised her a lot of healthy food. She is 29 years old, i'm wondering if it is acid reflux or not, and if it has something to do with h.pylory. Does she need to do a endoscopy?
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar n tn Yeah, I was on some medicine for a yeast infection actually while I was taking the antibiotics because my doctor said that it could cause one so he wanted to prevent it. So, I'm not really sure.
Avatar m tn Im looking for answers. For 2 years I had continuous stomach pain, heartburn and chest pains. I was seen numerous times in the ER when the pain got to bad. Everytime I was told there was nothing wrong. Finally one doctor decided to do a hida scan and found I had a low function gallbladder. it was only 17%. In November I had my gallbladder removed. I had a lot of pain and the heartburn instantly returned.. and I would get nauseas with one bite of food.
Avatar n tn hello there. i was wondering if anyone could suggest me something about my problem. 2 and a half months ago i started having a sore throat which usually feels dry, burning or scratchy. at the same time i started to experience heartburn which i never had before, also cough mostly when i was lying down. otolaryngologist said i have pharyngitis but none of the medication that i tried for it helped and i tried pretty much all the possible stuff.
Avatar f tn I am now currently 5 days late and took a pregnancy test two days ago and it was negative. Does anyone know if antibiotics cause mp and how much longer should I wait to take a test?
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? Indeed, some antibiotics including sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim and levofloxacin may cause headache as one of the side effects. This usually goes away after the course of the treatment. If it persists, inform your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I just turned 50 and was having upper right quadrant pain that I thought may be related to being on 4 antibiotics in 2 months, so the doctor ordered both tests. The gastro doc said I had mild gastritis and GERD (even tho I never have heartburn), he removed a benign nodule from my esophagus and said I had diverticuli that were not inflamed. About 2 weeks later I had severe chest pain and heart pounding. Went to ER and everything was OK.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics can cause diarrhea or loose stools. The doctor thought you had a bacterial infection and prescribed cephalexin for you. If you do have an infection of the throat and tonsil, you must continue the whole dose (7-10days) of the antibiotic. He should have done a throat culture to make sure it was not viral, and to make sure you were given the correct antibiotic if it is bacterial. Never take antibiotics if it is viral.
