Avatar f tn suffered broken ankle in May 2010. Had surgery with plate and screws to fix. 2 weeks no weight bareing, 8 + weeks in camwalker boot - weight bearing as tolerated. Then moved to right ankle element brace and cane. Have completed 2 sessions of PT. Have chronic pain i ... [More] n foot/ankle with every step I take. Both my foot/leg are still swollen and discolored. Taking pain meds daily. Recently returned to work (4 hours per day sitting).
Avatar n tn Less than a week after surgery I noticed that my hair growth on that total leg has gone from extremely light to very heavy. The other leg remains unchanged. I brought this up to my doctor at a follow up today and he acted as if I was crazy and tried to say it was probably medicine related, but I have a hard time accepting that since this happened only to the leg the knee replacement was on and at the exact time of the knee replacement. Thank you for any comment.
Avatar n tn I have met an accident so both bone broken Ulna and middle radius. After six week of plaster its removed as soon as it removed some swelling occured on wrist and pain also there. Is this normal after such operation?how long it takes to make my arm sraight presently too much pain to make it straight.
Avatar f tn A few months ago I managed to gash my leg open and the edges of the cut had to be steri-stripped together. To protect and limit bleeding I put a large plaster (band-aid) on it. When the cut had healed enough for me to remove the plaster I found I had had an allergic reaction to the adhesive. I left the reaction alone as I am used to reacting to the adhesive of some plasters and the reaction will normally leave on its own in a few days.
Avatar f tn About a year ago i went to a back doctor and he told me i had broken my rib in the accident and it healed over out of place. I still suffer pain in my back but im worried theres no way to fix it. any ideas?
Avatar m tn It depends it can be anything from wearing a special leg and ankle brace or plaster cast up to surgery for severe cases.
Avatar f tn The doctor took XRay scan of my elbow (twice - one each week) and advised me to be in crape bandage plaster for one week. Last week he told me that he cannot see the fracture and hence asked me to remove the plaster and start exercising But I have stiffness in my arm because of which i am not able to stretch it completely. When I apply pressure (using my other hand ) to straighten it up, it hurts. Can it be a cause of broken cartilage being present in my elbow?
Avatar n tn She insists I need this support, but my other orthotics from years past have not had such a high arch, etc. I have a leg length difference, and had to convince her to put a lift on one side. I have the sensation of pressing down on the inside of my foot/ankle as I walk. She now has me using a lateral post, but I still have the tendon pain, and it will not go away while i wear the orthotics. Are they worng for me? Is the arch too high? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn When just the tip is involved, is there any merit in wearing a hefty plaster cast 24/7? Most advice seems to be that I will have to expect a cast, but, as no bones have been broken, is it really necessary to wear it? - Not least, during the day?
Avatar f tn Its the same kind of technique thats use for a broken arm of leg. Plaster is used to mould and shape your belly with plastic covering on the first layer to protect your skin. I think its mostly done in the third trimester as your bump is more of a shape.
Avatar f tn Petechiae are broken capillaries that appear as red spots. If the red bumps appear in a round area surrounding the puncture, they could be petechiae or a reaction to the metal on the needle (foreign body reaction. It they appear in a band where the bandaid, plaster or tape was, they are most likely an adhesive allergy. Pretty common and either of these should resolve in a few days.
Avatar m tn I was able to have a MRI done and I was placed on their Patients Assistance program, which assistant uninsured patients with their medical bills and specialist. They referred me to local orthopedic specialist. The Orthopedic stated that my leg was healing properly and he placed a hard cast on it. I have to wear it for 3 months. I thank all of you for convincing me to seek medical attention.
Avatar f tn Many thanks to you for your reply. I think at this point in time we are going along with you of this being stress related as he shows no symptoms during the daytime. He leg was broken when he was run over by a "friends" vehicle which has traumatized him far more than we have realized. We will continue to monitor his condition/behavior and give more support to his emotional well being. Once again many thanks for your help, advice and time it is very much appreciated.
Avatar n tn My concern is that the week before I torn/split some skin at the joint of my fingers and hand during a workout session and it happens that on that morning I had felt that the wound was near enough healed to go through the day with out a plaster. So when I killed the mosquito there was no plaster covering the area. I cleaned the wound with alcohol immdieately after wiping the blood off with soaked tissue and then rinsing my hands with alcohol.
Avatar f tn d get a 2nd opion is your flight long or short hall also could you ask for more leg space to ensure that you are comfortable also leg socks are also a must I have to wear them as I have deep varicose veins I'm to get surgery to remove my radial head as it's shattered and that it's not healed properly
Avatar m tn Its on the front of my foot on the main bone coming down my leg. Whatever I do to it (cream, change of shoes, plaster e.t.c) it will not go away, or even calm down! Never really itches or gives any form of pain or discomfort, it's just there. Not sure what else to say, I have a photo but not sure how to post on here. Pretty self explanatory though. Just an idea of what it is would be helpful!
702639 tn?1228591991 The Doctor informed me that it was broken, but was not a place to plaster it. He suggested an operation, which I wasn't keen on being a diabetic. After a two hour wait, he gave me an appointment got the fracture clinic the following day. I say a Consultant who said it wasn't broken, he was staring at my x ray and it was clearly floating free from the rest of the elbow.
Avatar f tn You have severely bruised your hand and possibly by the sound of the way your little pinky is facing appears that you have some breaks in the hand. It would be a good idea to have a xray done of your hand to make sure that there are no breaks. In the mean time apply lots of natural yogurt to the whole hand. Yogurt is cooling and will help to draw out any inflammation and bruising. Tape the "ill" finger to the adjoining finger (you will probably need a couple of plasters).
Avatar m tn I have this pain in my back since I got off work, now is going down to my leg on the leftside. What is that from?
Avatar m tn s fracture) and thus I ended up just putting some coldpacks on the broken finger for a while. I squeezed it quite hard hoping the swell would go down a bit? I think I closed the break instead. So fastforwarding to 5 days later, I tell my parents about it and they take me to the doctor and they do a xray and realize that I have a fracture. So later that day I get a cast on.
Avatar m tn Its possible you were put in a "back slab" cast which is soft on one side. This was done to my broken wrist to allow for swelling immediatey after the accident. I then was called back to have a full fibreglass cast on after ten days or so. The reason for going back for the full cast is that as the swelling reduces the cast then may become too lose to support the bones and thus could allow for poor healing.
