I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone.
He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
One of the workers that applied first-aid for suffered a very large laceration/abrasion on his left shin. The wound stretched almost from ankle to knee and is almost 2 inches wide at its widest. It is only a couple layers of skin peeled back but there is ample amount of open wound. I cleaned and dressed the wound with non-adherent sponges, but I also applied alot of polysporin. I have re-dressed the wound twice now, once every 24hours since the incident occured.
Has anyone broken their pelvis during pregnancy? I broke mine in a car accident years ago and never had any problems with my first baby. This baby dropped at 28wks and my dr says he is almost certain this baby has broken it again. I'm scheduled for csection next week, which is a huge relief with the pain, but he said it could take 6-12wks to heal. Was wondering what other peoples experience was? Did it get better after delivery?
Anyway, I have shown no signs that HIV could demonstrate (and she has not either for the matter), such as a flu-like symptoms, frequent stomach/intestine problems, or a horrible rash over the past six months since we started having sex. But I have developed these two red spots on my leg (first noticed about three weeks ago), that in my paranoid state relates them to an HIV rash. I am seeing a dermatologist ASAP, along with a doctor as I said, but I'm chewing my nails here.
They told me 6 weeks to heal before i get cast off, but i was in a splint style cast for the first week, does that count as one week? and also should nt have the doctor have asked me to come in for check up x-rays just to make sure the bone is healing properly? i live in a small community was treated by a regular doctor a i think.Do u think ill need an aircast after i get regular cast off or is that just optional?
I was prescribed Ativan for 6 weeks as a sleep aid following a broken ankle. Took 1 mg at night. Reached tolerance and cut to half mg per night for a week.
I am now on day 6 of c/t. The days are ok once I am up and moving - a little nausea and anxiety but bearable.
The nights are not so good with stomach pains, anxiety and terrible insomnia plus pins and needles in arms.
Last night, less anxiety and I managed to sleep for a couple of hours around dawn without a sleep aid.
Last night we opened our backdoor to find a stray kitty (adolescent male). I noticed he was malnourished and gave him some milk and chicken (all I had for an animal). Then I noticed he was favoring one leg. I think it might be broken! I've called a few places and no one wants to deal with him, of course. They're just going to want to euthanize him instead of help him.
So my question is this--- what do I do?!?!?!?!
I have read recently that the first aid technique is now not used in some countries. I did learn it when I did my St. John's Ambulance First Aid course, but luckily have never had to use it on any one.
As you had a particle food lodged and could not cough it up and the back slaps did not work, your dad did the right thing, otherwise you could have choked to death.

11 months ago I was in a car accident and broke my left femur in 2 places (on the top by my pelvis and in the middle). After my first surgery, they put a titanium rod through my femur and a plate connecting the top of my femur with my pelvis.
After about 5 months, my doctor told me the top of my femur was fully healed but the middle had stopped healing and he needed to go in and replace the rod with a bigger one to stimulate bone growth.
To be able to apply First Aid to the wound,I used the same razor blade she was using to scrape her nails to cut off the broken nail/skin so i could apply disinfectant, it was after all said and done that i realised that i was stupid to use the same razor blade with her because she had mistakenly cut herself with the same razor like two minutes before i used it.
I have been worried, Please is this a risk considering that she is a new friend in the neighbourhood and i dont know her much.
It feels like iv done something more then just bruise or twist it because its gradually getting worse, iv broken my leg before and it kinda feels like that.
Im a lifeguard and am worried that this is affecting my work, also soeone at work suggested i might have injured my 'scaphoid bone' (spelt wrong) does this sound possible?
