I did a Google search on needing surgery while not having insurance and having no financial means to pay for it and saw your post, but it has been almost 2 years since you wrote it. Did you ever get your surgery? How are you? I am in a very similar situation. I live near Atlanta and have been to the emergency room twice, once by ambulance (as I passed out from the pain, fell, and was unconscious when I was taken in).

It surprising that even in the event of a broken bone that it would take your dr. that long to get back to you even his office staff should be able to assist you with a referal. Hope you find someone soon. Good luck.

I am a 27yo Male in reasonably good health. 4 days ago, I slipped on ice in my driveway and fell backward landing on my palm and overextending my elbow. I hurt extremely bad and more than that, I had the sense that something was "screwed up" in there. Although i could move my wrist and fingers just fine, if I extended my arm, I could feel a "pop" or "crunch" in my elbow and excruciating pain would shoot from my elbow to my fingertips for a minute or so.

I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.

Two days ago I fell down my stairs.The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised. Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.

I had a large open fracture high trauma injury. I had 10cm of broken bone removed from my tib. I underwent a long operation to graft a free flap from my lat muscle on my back, bone grafts from both hips and a skin graft. I also had a ilizarov frame fitted. A few months later I had an operation to break the top of my tib to lengthen my leg.

That's very common practice w/ a fibula break.-My brother does heavy construction & is working as we speak w/ a broken fibula.- & no it not a weght bearing bone.I broke my tibia and fibula & while my tib healed with hardware placed- my fibula was left alone-I walked around for 3 months with a unhealed fibula & never knew until Dr.told me.I guess where my break was is a fine line whether to put hardware in or not. I keep getting this weird crack in my leg when I move it. It sounds like a joint being cracked (such as knuckles, etc) but it's on the front side of my lower leg, slightly to the right, directly between the knee and the ankle. It will crack pretty loudly simply from me tensing the muscles in my leg and pushing downward (like when I get up after sitting). What in the world is this? There's no joint there so I don't know what's making that noise.

s out of state insurance from where I am living now. I have heard that the ER will have no problem accepting it and the insurance co will be billed by them although is it possible that an independent orthopedic surgeon will also accept my out of state insurance? I make a little over 1700 and I was approved after a week. You should really insist there is no reason why they wouldn't approve you. I also have my work insurance and medicaid is paying for all of my deductibles. I thought I wasn't going to get approved but all my co workers told me to try it wouldn't hurt and it sure didnt.
