Avatar m tn Did the Vet mention what type of therapy? Since this is a small dog, I thing aquatic therapy would really benefit her and you should be able to use your bathtub. Ask your Vet if you can do that. Hard to explain in depth here, but look it up on the Internet.
Avatar f tn I had two surgeries and an external fixator was put in while I recovered. They put rods and screws in as well. I went through physical therapy, but to be honest didn't do my exercises at home like I should have been doing. Since that time, I have been exercising again after the doctor gave me the ok. I was doing spin classes and now recently I have tried running and stepping up my exercise and i'm getting a lot of pain in my shin area where the surgery was.
Avatar f tn Did anyone else have to do physical therapy or are planning on starting? They have me a list of exercises to do at home and they work wonders.
Avatar n tn He is going to need physical therapy, and has a long road ahead in the next few months. However, if he puts in the work required, he will most likely regain his mobility. He will experience some weakness in the leg after not putting weight on it for an extended period of time. He will also experience some stiffness and loss of mobility in in ankle. These issues will be addressed in the physical therapy.
897648 tn?1241801939 What kind of physical Therapy can I do to help my golden with hind leg atrophy. She does have hip dysplasia, was diagnosed at 2. So she actually has done extremely well with Homeopathic Product. I have started the Rimadyl a few months ago. Thank you.
333672 tn?1273792789 I had an evaluation for physical therapy on Monday and my first session today. I am having increasing trouble with walking and, although I don't know if this is going to help, I think it's worth a shot. So far I have found out a number of interesting things. My flexibility is okay for my age (although it seems worse to me than it used to be), but I have weakness in my hip flexors and in my ankle muscles.
Avatar n tn It took him about 3 months to be able to walk without crutches( I think) and he did physical therapy exercises all the time(which I think sped up the strengthening process) It took him much longer to walk without a weird limp but he was mobile by then.
Avatar f tn I had knee surgery and was given therapy exercises by physical therapists. Obviously the exercise changed as time went on. I couldn't believe what a workout they were.
Avatar m tn Your postoperative period after arthroscopic meniscal repair needs to be taken care of by physical therapy. The main focus is to decrease the swelling, regain full range of motion and build muscle strength. The typical rehabilitation plan includes six weeks in the brace, performing non-weight bearing range of motion exercises. After six weeks, patients begin weight bearing and other exercises for another six weeks. Low impact exercises are started at 12 weeks with full exercise at 16 weeks.
Avatar f tn Selma has neck exercises posted on the forum that could probably help. I went to physical therapy for 8 months after my surgery and it did help. The physical therapist researched chiari and syringomyelia and did not allow me to do anything that caused pain- ie: if the exercise caused pain she discontinued it and had me try something else. You may also benefit from seeing an occupational therapist.
Avatar f tn Or could be at the moment you may simply need better pain control, a new group of physical therapy exercises, just an adjustment to moderate treatment. I, too, was in a car accident, broke my back in three places, disks vaporized on impact, and while I have decent medicines, including Lyrica and mild opiate-derivatives, the discomfort never really goes away. I sometimes think they ought to put me on a morphine drip, at least I'd be a happy broken person.
Avatar f tn Ordered to wear a cervical collar and isometric physical therapy. The appt. was alot of coverage and overwhelming so as soon as the report comes in I will have a better understanding as to the blockage and everything going on. Have been to physical therapy in the past but very short term. 3 sessions. Oh and EDS dx as well. Waiting on my insurance approval for PT.....found isometric cervical exercises on Mayfield Clinic website but they make me dizzy, lol.
Avatar f tn Do you have any links to physical therapy exercises that are related to this condition and the broken vertebrae? Currently he is swimming several times a week as a substitute but he can't bear to do much else. Is he jeopardizing his spinal health swimming laps with the fractured vertebrae? As to a back brace, is this something that is necessary to aid in his healing or is he alright maintaining his normal routine (which involves a lot of walking as means of transportation) without one?
Avatar m tn How long does it take for the tibia fracture to fully heal, and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing process on my own other than exercises and physical therapy? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello, In addition to continuing your physical therapy and stretching exercises, with which I completely agree, swimming is another great alternative you might consider. Honey, local home made varieties, being your best choice, when applied topically helps wounds to heal and has antimicrobial properties as well. I am not specifically familiar with Manuka honey, but this applies to honey in general and my guess is that Manuka may be the name of a local variety, named accordingly.
Avatar m tn Hi Chris, Surgery is always the last resort. Try physical therapy, back exercises, yoga and pilates. Only do these exercises when you are in less pain. Pilates is the less rigorous exercise so maybe try this first. Try and strengthen your back and spine as surgery then may hopefully not be necessary.
Avatar n tn I had ataxia from a stroke in the cerebellum and haave gone to physical therapy for it. First is cocentration on balance. One the exercises that can be done for this is standing on a stair, with one's toes and balls of feet on the stair and the heel hanging off and downward. Hold that position for 3-5 minutes to strengthen the tendon at the back of the leg. One of the most important things is to build-up muscles in the legs as well as one's core ( muscles in stomach and back).
Avatar n tn I would differ, as whatever you're suffering from isn't something we can know. That fact osteoarthritis showed up on an MRI, for example, doesn't mean that's the reason you're feeling pain. It could be, but it could be muscular or other things as well. And as for exercises for this, I would get referred to physical therapy.
Avatar f tn Definitely get a second X-ray, and also especially see a physical therapist. Three weeks is not that long of a time. To me it looks like the muscles have tightened up, and it's the job of physical therapy (done correctly) to loosen them again.
195469 tn?1388322888 I will be going to a physical therapy center to have this done and wonder what it entails. Probably should ask the center, but I knew I would get better answers from someone that knows about it or has been through it themselves. Physical therapy is very time consuming and to be honest, I don't want to waste my time and energy doing exercises that are really not going to make a difference in my course with MS and my walking.
Avatar n tn for muscle balance, diet, and pressure point DYI? I am currently scheduled for epidural steroid and physical therapy this week which medical doctors say is the only treatment besides surgery for sciatica. There has got to be answere somewhere? What about the tnf injection by the doctor in California? Why is it not the number one treatment if it is a miracle cure? I have been down and fightin sciatica for going on six months so I am looking for help for chronic sciatica.
