1808884 tn?1324345703 Even if you have limited mobility and injuries that make walking, running or jumping around to an exercise video all but impossible, you can still do low impact exercises such as stretching, lifting light hand weights, leg raises, and yoga type of flexabilty increasing exercises. They still help get blood and lymph systems moving and help improve circulation.
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
1415174 tn?1453243103 This might just be a muscular strain because of certain activities. By the way, what exercises are you doing on your leg that might possibly cause the pain? Other possibilities include myofascial pain syndrome, nerve compression, vascular conditions, etc. It might also be a radiating pain originating from the back. In the meantime, try warm compress for 20 minutes done at least 3 times in a day if the pain comes back.
Avatar f tn I am trying to find a workout video to help keep my strength and mobility. I have tried a yoga class. Did not do so well at it and personally didn't care for it. Any suggestions? Thank You.

Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.

1461944 tn?1286027942 Hey, i have had 2 microdiscectomy procedures on my l5/s1 disc for a herniation causing a pinched sciatic nerve going down my right leg and the pain still is not getting better, it is over a month out of my last surgery, i am almost 17 now, my question is, is there any stretches or strengthening excercises i can do to help my sciatic nerve pain?
Avatar n tn That's a pretty broad post. Can you afford a personal trainer at a gym? That way you can tell them what you want and they can get you started. You'll only get "huge" legs if you do tons of leg resistance exercises (and if you have the genetic ability to get them without taking steroids, which is unlikely unless you have large legs to begin with).
Avatar f tn I do crunches I have a five pound weighted ball that I lay on my back and I throw it up and catch it about 250-400 times twice daily I was doing too many crunches (up to 2000 daily) I do leg excersises and lifts and what not but very little is showing on the scale.
Avatar f tn Hello, I broke my fibula/Tibia in Feb 2007. I had two surgeries and an external fixator was put in while I recovered. They put rods and screws in as well. I went through physical therapy, but to be honest didn't do my exercises at home like I should have been doing. Since that time, I have been exercising again after the doctor gave me the ok.
Avatar f tn The last is the Single-Leg Deadlift, Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart and your hands resting in front of your thighs. Lift your left leg and support your body weight on your right leg. Lower your upper body by bending over while supporting your body on your right leg. Continue bending forward on one leg until you can touch the ground with your fingertips. Your right leg should swing behind your body to act as a counterbalance to your torso bending forward.
1285110 tn?1420147378 Anyways, the point of this comment is that they do all sorts of arm exercises with it - bicep curls, lateral bicep curls, etc. If you could get a band of some sort like that it would be easy enough to do without the system as well.
Avatar f tn Hey, Thanks for the info and the video link. I watched it and started the excercises last night. It hurts so bad it's almost unbearable to do but today I am sore but do not have the pain going down my leg! I will continue to do these exercises and I'll bet that has been my problem all along. My DR. of course did not even mention this piriformis muscle could cause anything. He just wanted to put me on pain meds. & muscle relaxers. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn Hi...leg spasms or cramping? Either should be checked by a Dr...and they should start with blood work to see if u have low levels of Vitamin B12, D and minerals like magnesium and potassium. Do let us know how u r doing and what u find out.
Avatar f tn Once you are able to walk short distances unassisted, it is important to regain the strength in your leg muscles with resistance exercises. You can do the early rehab exercises with light ankle weights or resistance bands, and you can ride a stationary bike at varying degrees of resistance to strengthen your muscles and work on your range of motion at the same time. Consider taking yoga or tai chi classes.
Avatar f tn @parvosufferer Yes those are the common symptoms of brain concussion make sure you post in the neurology forum as well The fact that you can't do a proprioceptive sensory exercise means that your internal system of the brain got affected sometimes can be shock sometimes can be severe that's why is really important to check with your doctor regarding internal bleeding and so on.
Avatar n tn squat, front squat, hack squat, split leg squat, leg press, lunge, leg extension, leg curl, standing calf raise and seated calf raise. For each exercise, complete between three and four sets of 12 to 15 repetitions, resting for a maximum of 60 seconds between sets. Google the exercises to see how to perform them.
Avatar m tn The pains were mainly in my chest, but would appear in other parts of my body like my leg, arm, and other places. Then later on that month, I had gas that would come and go along with the pains. In addition a shot time after that, I started to twitch often, and have anxiety attacks. I went to the emergency room and the doctors drew blood and did chest x rays, said I had an acid reflux problem. My mom didn't put that I was twitching or anxious.
Avatar m tn First of all start eating healthy and less, around 1700 calories daily (for more info contact a nutritionist) please don't consume less than 1500/day. You could try jogging but if that's too intense for your knee a-45-minutes walk 4-5 times a week is proven to promote weight loss. Also you can look for exercises like crunches, curls and leg raises that won't make your knee worse. You can also follow my blog on tumblr for more inspiration and tips :) feel free to ask anything.
Avatar m tn I have realised how much this is all connected to the broken leg and weak ankle, but I am now lost as to what to do. I would like to not accept this as how I shall be for the rest of my life, but I am starting to wonder. I was thinking that an Osteopath could be good by getting my hips, lower back, buttock region back into alignment? (And hey I have tried the other obvious solutions!
