1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn Did the Vet mention what type of therapy? Since this is a small dog, I thing aquatic therapy would really benefit her and you should be able to use your bathtub. Ask your Vet if you can do that. Hard to explain in depth here, but look it up on the Internet.
Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.
Avatar f tn He is still unable to move the entire left arm and fingers, and his left leg. His personality has changed, although he appears to have recovered about 90% of his previous cognitive ability. Depression after the stroke has been severe. Does anyone know of treatment that might help my son reecover the use of the paralyzed limbs? He is only 31 yrs. old, and has gone from a healthy, happy young man, to a depressed disabled person.
Avatar n tn I was given the choice to do a cast or metal rod with pins through my leg for a speedy recovery in witch i choose. It was put through the lower part of my leg down to my ankle Big mistake! I can't even walk a mile without my leg killing me. Hurts from my Knee down to where there is a small bump (feels like bone) on top of my ankle. I need to know if the rod and pins can be removed? If so how fast is the recovery and will the pain go away?

Avatar f tn My son who is 38 had a stroke on Sept. 25, 2009. His left leg and left arm is paralyzed. He has been in two different sub-acute rehab facilities since Dec. 2009. The most recent one he has been there since Feb 10, 2010 but they only started the physical therapy on about Mar 7, 2010. The physical therapists and doctors are now telling me he probably won't get any better and we should be getting ready to take him home.

Avatar f tn What is your opinion on oxygen therapy for stroke recovery? Has anyone had any experience with this?
Avatar f tn For the first 10 days following surgery I had no leg pain at all - it was like a miracle! However, over the last few days, the leg pain has begun to return. It is mainly when I lie down and although it is not as severe as before surgery, it is enough to keep me awake at night and i have had to begin taking pain medication again. I am terrified that the operation has failed.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago I was hit by a car and had my leg broken, the knee socket crushed and my shoulder broken. They performed surgery on the knee about 12 days ago and are about to do surgery on the shoulder. Both are on the left side. Is there any set up I can use that will allow me to walk in any way? As I understand it I will not be able to use a crutch on my left side. Thanks!

209591 tn?1267414714 This usually requires long-term oral therapy and often times IV antibiotic therapy. I personally do not feel it is curable at this stage but you can improve or even go into remission with proper treatment. Have you read Dr. Burrascano's treatment guidelines?
Avatar m tn As a result, I required nearly 10 hours of surgery to repair two badly broken legs and L forearm. During my recovery, my L femur was the most painful of my broken bones. However, since it healed, it has been the injury that has never caused any further issues/pain. Well, that is up until about 6 months ago when my femur started aching. Over the past few months, it has progressed to aching pretty much constantly.
Avatar f tn I am going to have surgery quite soon for my herniated/broken disc. I wondered how long if anyone has had this, how long is recovery? I mean how long for pain? WIll I feel great right away and be able to do normal things? Now, a relative who thinks they are the only one with pain and mostly lies, so I don't know whether to believe them or not said our grandfather had the surgery and was up literally dancing right after surgery that day.
Avatar m tn Alright, so I'm 24 years old and I broke my penis when I was 9 years old but never had it treated... and yes I'm 100% sure I broke it. I was masturbating and had my hand over my penis when I accidentally hit it really hard. There was a VERY loud POP! sound with unbearable pain. I screamed into my pillow so nobody would hear me and I was too embarrassed to tell my parents so I decided I would just let it heal on its own.
Avatar m tn so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.
Avatar m tn ve been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot. I still need to use a cane or crutches to get around. How long does it take for the tibia fracture to fully heal, and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing process on my own other than exercises and physical therapy? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Did your surgeon offer any physical therapy? Did he at least tell you what to expect as far as recovery is concerned? I really wouldn't wait to have that leg looked at. Nerve damage is bad enough, but if the circulation is also impaired, you've got even bigger problems.
1670015 tn?1310588684 Can anyone give me a clue how long it will be before I start to see signs of recovery and how good the prognosis is for a full recovery. Also is it good to exercise during the treatment of just rest.
Avatar f tn I see you trying so diligently to figure things out. You need your therapist to sort this out, but as you said in another posting, you are going to have to wait another week. There is one principle to keep in mind that might help you. Reality is your friend. Yes, starting with and ending with reality as the basis of your decision making keeps you on a sustainable track, tells you what you have to change in yourself, and will put your fears of change in perspective.
