Avatar m tn I have undiagnosed nervous system disorder and I get this actually but more in the groin, and down my left leg, numbness and not being able to tell if someone touches my leg or not. It certainly could be the after affects of the accident it will take a long time for all the nerves to heal, and it oculd be the results of the brain hemoraghe or just that the accident has caused some spinal cord trauma.
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar f tn You have a catheter in with an epidural so as soon as you get feeling back ask them to take it out as this will get you up & moving! They like to see you can walk/wee properly again before discharging you. I had a heavy epidural 1st time round & it wore off quicker than I expected it, I was out of bed in the morning- around 8hours, & I was discharged the next day.

Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.
Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar f tn I am quite fit and physically healthy (eat well, swim at least once a week) so I am going to have the surgery in the summer holidays this year and was wondering what the average recovery time was (preferably for someone like me or your own personal experiances) also when are you allowed to do sports again, how long you stay in hospital and if you are allowed to fly afterwards.
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.
Avatar m tn Its possible you were put in a "back slab" cast which is soft on one side. This was done to my broken wrist to allow for swelling immediatey after the accident. I then was called back to have a full fibreglass cast on after ten days or so. The reason for going back for the full cast is that as the swelling reduces the cast then may become too lose to support the bones and thus could allow for poor healing.
Avatar m tn My 6 yr old female cat jumped from a tree branch about 5 ft high. She is always jumping up onto ledges or down from them, she jumps very high, always climbing trees, etc. Anyway, her front paw is now swollen and she will not walk on it, she limps all around. She does not seem to be in pain, she still goes up and down the steps and jumps on and off the furniture and beds, going to the food dish etc.

So I told him to go and get tested now he refuse and indicates why do you have something, which I didn’t because few days before I went clinic and got the all clear. He also has a bruised kidney, broken rib and a broken bone in his hand, also the area around his spleen was sore but nothing showes up on ultra sound. There is now no blood in his urine and dependant on the result of a brain scan later today should be able to come home today. We are due to travel by air to France in two weeks time. Avatar f tn Yesterday at 41+5 i was due for an induction. However i woke at 4am having contractions so waited at home till about 10:30. My contractions wernt becoming regular or any stronger so my waters were broken at 2pm this didn't help either so was started on pictocin at 4pm. Contractions started getting a lot more intense until about 9 when i started pushing. I gave birth to my beautiful son using only gas+air at 9:28pm weighing a lovely 9lb 6 oz. Was home and in my own bed by 2am.
Avatar n tn I was given the choice to do a cast or metal rod with pins through my leg for a speedy recovery in witch i choose. It was put through the lower part of my leg down to my ankle Big mistake! I can't even walk a mile without my leg killing me. Hurts from my Knee down to where there is a small bump (feels like bone) on top of my ankle. I need to know if the rod and pins can be removed? If so how fast is the recovery and will the pain go away?

Avatar m tn The nose end of the vehicle landed on her right lower leg, crushing the Tibia and Fracturing the Fibula. She was Med-Flighted the 40+ miles to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Alabama. I would have preferred that she had been flown to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama but she was losing a lot of blood, so good thinking on behalf of the Med Flight Crew. Anyway, she spent 8 hours in the Pediatric Trauma/ER before seeing a surgeon...
