Avatar m tn Last Sunday I came home to find my wife sat behind the front door, she said Brian I have broken my leg, She had been putting seed in the bird feeders and fell from the ladder , then crawled all the way up the garden ,through the house to unlock the door so I could get in. SHE was blue lighted to the hospital she has broken her TIBIA below the knee and another bone .
Avatar n tn Hello, My mother recently underwent bypass surgery on Mar 24,2009. Two days after the surgery she suffered a stroke. She had bleeding and swelling of the brain along with very high blood pressure. She is now out of ICU but is not responding very well. Her memory is okay but she is unable to stay awake...she is in and out. She can move her left leg and arm but don't have control of them. The doctors said it's because of the swelling and we are looking at months until recovery.
Avatar n tn After getting it all taken out, I was on crutches for 2 days, and 2 weeks later I was running on a treadmill. My leg feels totally normal after getting it removed and I reccommend you to do the same. The recovery time was nothing like the original break at all. Nobody likes the idea of operations but I cant believe the difference it has made!!! DO IT!
Avatar n tn Hi, I had an ACL reconstruction in May this year and I am still struggling! I have a fair amount of pain on the inside of the injured knee, and find it difficult to weight bear specifically on that leg (can't even get started on a single leg squat). The OS said the knee was pretty badly damaged, and he had to repair the meniscus by shaving it and also removed a piece of the torn cartilage. Just wondering if i'm way behind on the recovery, or should i do more exercises?
1196614 tn?1265075773 Here's my story , i had a broken tibia and fibula as well i was trying tio help a female from getting beaten by his boyfriend , it was slippery oitside my right leg went forward and my left leg went backwards and my big ***( lol ) landed on top of my ankle and distored my ankle and broke my tibia and fibula , i went to the hospital where i stayed two nights then on monday i had to go see the bone doctor at the other hosiptal and told me that your fracture was a bad one .
Avatar n tn I smashed my leg, running at speed slipping and landing onto of it, tibeia and fibiea having many fractures and breaks, real ugly. i had splints installed to both bones mid leg to the ankle, it is now the 6 month period, i am off crutches however after an hour of being on the leg it is a swollen mess.
Avatar m tn so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.
Avatar m tn well she really should see a Vet for xrays to determine if the hip is broken, if this heals wrong she may never get the use of the leg back but it could also be just badly bruised, perhaps some ligament damage(?) without an xray its hard for me to advise you. if its only muscle injury, it will heal itself. but if its broken than she will have lasting damage.
Avatar m tn Also, try taking walks, it helps with the leg shaking...the leg shaking was VERY annoying for me, but it should go away after a while.
Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.
3190984 tn?1344941837 Brace yourself...sorry, this is a long one! I guess I needed to talk about this or something. :) About two years ago, I ran a full marathon and was definitely in the best shape of my life. A few months later, I ruptured two discs in my back while helping my Mom put away her Christmas decorations. I didn't have insurance and didn't even know exactly how badly I was injured, but I was in extremely severe pain and could even get up to use the restroom for days.
Avatar f tn I was playing soccer when i went into a tackle my Body got twisted around but my foot and lower leg stayed still. I felt a massive pain through my knee on the inside of my knee and heard and felt a snap. My team mates imediatly came running over because they said they heard a snap sound to and that it looked nasty when i did it. My coach put ice on it and strapped it up but i can only put a tiny amount of weight on it before my knee collapses.
Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn The doctors at the local hospital placed a steel rod Inside the broken tibia and held it in place with 3 pins (after little research I think it is called an Intramedullary rod). For the first 3-4 years I didn't notice the the metal in my leg and lived a normal life each day, i.e. running, mild gymnastics training, caring for my elderly father(heavy lifting), and the life of a 16-20 year old. I am now almost 21.
Avatar f tn Lilly is a 9month old yorkshire terrier. On friday i noticed that she was picking up her back leg whilst running, but when walking she is fine on 4 legs. She puts weight on the leg, sits on it, lies on it, she is still jumping up. When my boyrfriend touches the leg she is fine, when i touch it to see whats wrong she snaps at me. (She is my dog) but only occaisionally, almost like a child who pretends their ill and forgets to say oh that hurt but will do it next time.
Avatar f tn I have type 2 diabetes and suffering with pain in my foot my toes get very cold and at times red when I try to lift in leg up in a chair or under pillows I get coldness running in my leg and a tangling pain please help when I walk I m dragging my leg at times
Avatar f tn Condition your body to run anaerobically and your muscles to react explosively with hard running; “hard” means a pace slightly faster than your current 400m pace, not an all-out sprint. If you run 400m in 80 seconds, then you should run 200m intervals in 38 seconds. Follow each 200 with a two-minute jog. Depending on your fitness level, repeat the intervals six to 10 times. As you adapt, reduce the recovery jog to 30 seconds. Run 400m intervals. Warm up and focus on speed.
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.
Avatar m tn However, not being able to workout was really affecting my mental health, so I started overdoing lower body/running everyday and ended up straining my left quad on the leg press a little over a month ago. The pain seems to be off and on but if I walk around too much it hurts afterwards and takes awhile to feel "okay" again. Well after injury number two, I started doing some light upper body again since my shoulder was getting a little better.
279415 tn?1217371630 t hit my stomach at all but i was in horrible pain and thought that i had broken my leg. So once all of the medic's and EMT's where there the trouble was trying to get me out of the room and down the stairs, which at my house is VERY difficult. They didn't know how they were going to be able to do it b/c my stairs are so narrow and step that it left the stumped especially b/c they couldn't move my leg from the position that it was in.
Avatar m tn My 6 yr old female cat jumped from a tree branch about 5 ft high. She is always jumping up onto ledges or down from them, she jumps very high, always climbing trees, etc. Anyway, her front paw is now swollen and she will not walk on it, she limps all around. She does not seem to be in pain, she still goes up and down the steps and jumps on and off the furniture and beds, going to the food dish etc.
