1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.

Avatar n tn I assume that this happens because of the numbness in the leg? By all means make sure your surgeon is aware of your symptoms, old and new. Don't be afraid to use the walker. I do now and again and I think I am pretty young to be dependant on one...but we do what we have to do. Shopping carts help me navigate in a store.

Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.

1070610 tn?1279274410 I am starting hydrotherapy tomorrow with the physio . She is still concerned about leg weakness and now the right leg is showing signs of weakness. I was doing stretching and gentle strengthening exercises through the relapse so I guess they are not as weak as they could have been. I havent been to the neuro. I left a message for him to let him know I was relapsing and did he want to see me?? No reply......so I just carried on as you do and coped with it.
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.
Avatar m tn My 6 yr old female cat jumped from a tree branch about 5 ft high. She is always jumping up onto ledges or down from them, she jumps very high, always climbing trees, etc. Anyway, her front paw is now swollen and she will not walk on it, she limps all around. She does not seem to be in pain, she still goes up and down the steps and jumps on and off the furniture and beds, going to the food dish etc.

209591 tn?1267414714 I see that can be quite common, for the dormant symptoms to become visible after use of antibiotics. My symptoms first symptoms last January was numbness and tingling in extremities; as well as severe fatigue and headaches. During my first visit with my PCP I was unable to distinguish between two different objects on my right side with my eyes closed (one sharp and one dull).
666921 tn?1254990618 OMG - it was seriously one of the most painful things I have ever experienced in my life - worse than a spinal tap, broken bone, and surgery recovery! I woke up from a nap feeling like there were glass shards in my ribs and I couldn't move or breathe. They had to call the paramedics. I had never heard of it before or heard of anyone who had it, but the doctor at the hospital said it was "fairly common." I think he said that so I wouldn't freak out. Meh!
Avatar n tn I was given the choice to do a cast or metal rod with pins through my leg for a speedy recovery in witch i choose. It was put through the lower part of my leg down to my ankle Big mistake! I can't even walk a mile without my leg killing me. Hurts from my Knee down to where there is a small bump (feels like bone) on top of my ankle. I need to know if the rod and pins can be removed? If so how fast is the recovery and will the pain go away?

Avatar m tn I have undiagnosed nervous system disorder and I get this actually but more in the groin, and down my left leg, numbness and not being able to tell if someone touches my leg or not. It certainly could be the after affects of the accident it will take a long time for all the nerves to heal, and it oculd be the results of the brain hemoraghe or just that the accident has caused some spinal cord trauma.
Avatar m tn The nose end of the vehicle landed on her right lower leg, crushing the Tibia and Fracturing the Fibula. She was Med-Flighted the 40+ miles to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Alabama. I would have preferred that she had been flown to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama but she was losing a lot of blood, so good thinking on behalf of the Med Flight Crew. Anyway, she spent 8 hours in the Pediatric Trauma/ER before seeing a surgeon...
Avatar f tn follow up with MRI in October to determine it was a dermoid cyst. Had no symptoms or pain....until Thanksgiving (5 weeks ago). Had right leg pain/pulling/cramping. Saw chiro, thought it was my back, but not better with chiro. Saw primary care, on pain meds, at this point pain now horrific in right buttock, posterior leg to ankle, not bearing weight on right leg, can't sit, difficult for BM....
